Sorry BATMAN v SUPERMAN; CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Trailer Shatters Records

Well, this timing can't be coincidental. With a new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice preview on the way, Marvel are boasting about the Captain America: Civil War trailer breaking records. Has it really though? Star Wars fans may have something to say about this one...

Marvel has today announced that the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War debuted online to a "record-shattering" 61 million global views in its first 24 hours. The trailer almost doubled the previous record held by the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron (which debuted to a then record-breaking 34 million views in 2014). The studio has also confirmed that audiences will soon be able to see the new Captain America: Civil War trailer on the big screen in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. What isn't clear here is the record Marvel is referring to. After all, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer received 112 million views in 24 hours, so it could be that they're only talking about the superhero genre. Either way, this is an impressive feat, albeit one we may see topped if a new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer tonight. What do you think?

Leave it to Mr. Clickbait himself to turn this into another Marvel vs DC thing.

I'd laugh if the Gotham thing was just a five second clip of Supes and Bats running at each other. They collide. Logo shows. Fade to black.

Honestly I didn't think the trailer was that impressive beside the final shot of Cap and Buck double teaming Ironman :/

It's simply because the Captain America: Civil War trailer is better than anything Batman v Superman has put out so far.

Not sure how this can be true, the Star Wars trailer reached out to a much larger audience.

It really is a great trailer though. It tells a story in itself with emotional arcs and great music, rather than just showing you bits of the movie without context which is what so many trailers tend to do.

Weird, since 34 mill watching the Fallon video and 7 mill watching the trailer on the official Marvel Studios youtube channel, I would like to see some source of this, anyway, good for Marvel Studios if true.

I'm not sure how they calculate that, considering that the number of views is diluted by the number of people who sees the trailer in other Channels that are not Marvel's official one. Or those who didn't even watch it on youtube but on some media coverage site.
