CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Concept Art Reveals Alternate Designs For The Villainous Bucky - Part 2

In the second part of our look at alternate designs for Sebastian Stan's Bucky/The Winter Soldier, we bring you guys some versions of the character (and his metal arm) which are totally unrecognisable...

In 2014, Marvel Studios released Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, two movies which changed the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever. In the case of the former, the Russo Brothers brought a whole new style of action to the genre and put Steve Rogers on a path that is still playing out to this very day.

The movie also introduced (or re-introduced) another character who has played a key role in the MCU and will more than likely continue to do so moving forward. We are, of course, talking about Bucky, Steve's best friend from World War II who was resurrected by HYDRA as the Winter Soldier.

In the second part of this feature (you can find the first by clicking here), we once again take a look at incredible pieces of concept art showcasing alternate designs for the character, including different arms, masks, and uniforms. We also have some keyframes depicting the moment the villain gunned down (and seemingly killed) S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury in Steve's apartment.

A totally different take on Bucky's mask, this actually reminds me of Jack Flag (a character who was killed by the evil version of Steve Rogers not too long ago). Surprisingly, it works really well here.

Some great action shots of Bucky, I'm not a huge fan of that first mask design but it certainly would have made his look menacing (albeit not quite as badass as the version we ended up getting).

Another very unique take on Bucky, there are some clear sci-fi inspirations here and I'm not sure that would have been the best direction to take the character in for such a grounded adventure.

A lot of changes have been made to the hero's (well, villain's) comic book appearance here and some work and some...don't! They all bring something new to the table, that's for sure.

More versions of the Winter Soldier with his arm covered up, it's easy to see why Marvel Studios put so much thought into this and we can probably expect to see more of this moving forward.

A drastically different take on Bucky's arm, this makes the hero turned villain look like the Terminator and I'm not sure that would have ultimately been the best direction to take things in.

This obviously the version of The Winter Soldier that ended up on the big screen and it's hard to complain because he looked great and definitely made Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting proud.

Marvel really had us all believing that Nick Fury had been killed off during the events of this movie and it was a great bit of redirection for us and from a narrative standpoint too.

The Winter Soldier was a really imposing villain in that movie. I wish he would use the mask more though
