A true American hero, Captain America not only fought the forces of evil during World War II, but also bolstered his fellow soldiers with his unwavering bravery. To celebrate the real men and women who defend our country day in and day out, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service—the Department of Defense’s oldest and largest Exchange service—has teamed with Marvel Custom Solutions to offer a free Captain America comic that not only exemplifies Cap's effect on his fellow soldiers, but will also give readers an early peek at the world of ”Captain America: the First Avenger” opening on July 22.

The all-new, 32-page comic, written by William Harms and illustrated by Shawn Martinbrough, will be available in every Exchange store worldwide, hitting in the United States first and making its way around the world soon after.

Check out a lengthy interview with the writer of the special comic book and some preview art by clicking on the link below to head on over to Marvel's official report.

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22, later this year!

Still looks bad, even in comic form.

Thank God with the new costume, it's pretty much spot on with the one we all know just with Nikes and random white stripes.

@CaptainProg and MikeHawk. Our military defends these country day in and out. Even when the know damn well it's political as hell, they still strap up and do their jobs while you sit in your nice comfortable houses at nite. Ever been downtown Baghdad at the heat of the war?? Shut your mouths and respect the men and women that put it all on the line for their country.

Yeah, Romita jr is f.ucking great! But I still don't like that shoulder pads...

@ClarkFarley2012, yeah, they do that, 'cause they're just kids fooled by government lies and deceit, one of the most corrupt, ravenous and hipocrate governments of the world. They could want to be heroes, but only reach meaningless certain death.

Those guys get to be in normal circumstances at least some part of the day, are paid well for their service. Military OTOH, get shitty pay, get cut off from their normal lives and sent to shitty parts of the world to get shot at, and when they get home get little to no compensation for their service.

Clark@ you shut your mouth. They have a point. Have YOU ever been in the middle of a fatal car accident scene, been blamed for not reviving patients or working hard enough? Yeah become an emt and we can talk. Half our military will tell you theyre in it for te benefits and paycheck. I'm not saying anything is wrong with that, but do they deserve my spot on a plain cause he cooks food overseas in a "war" thanks, but I'll give it up to the Guy who saves lives daily.

i think the movie suit is good & will do for the first movie.

by the time we get round to the avengers & captain america 2 we'll have his modern day costume.

can't see what the problem is.

Respecting our men and women in the military would be not putting them in harms way unless it was absolutely necessary. That would be the day guess we will just stick to sending them for no reason but greed.

I know you guys are trolling. But, I will comment and feed the beast anyway. The comment That the book is dedicated to the real heroes is meant to show appreciation for the people who actually fight in wars unlike Cap who is just a fictional character portrayed as fighting in war. And FYI Cap is not a policeman or a doctor or any other person who may very well be a hero.It is not a slight to any of those other professions. Unfortunately, it does show you who are complaining it does not include every type of hero every concieved are either not very smart, or you are an ass trying to piss others off.

I disagree. The book IS dedicated by Marvel to real heroes of the United States military, that is a fact. It does not say "any person to ever put on a uniform." That is your opinion. And that is my humble opinion. :)

Gotta love the tossers commenting on the 'military industrial machine'. Let me guess you are either in college or just graduated and you know all about 'the man' from your studies. When you contribute to society and get in the real world one day, then come back and comment on the military, the man, or whatever other conspiracy is the topic of the day for you. You are probably the same kids that get on here and argue DC is better than Marvel or Marvel is better than DC. Grow upend learn some respect.

Bodwulf - 7/15/2011, 8:03 PM
@clark No, my reasoning is that The company called Marvel Comics put out an issue that salutes the real heroes military. I never said "anyone who puts on a uniform is a hero." You would loose in a debate because you do not listen. You must learn to actually read what the other person has written. So everything you wrote after CONTRARY means nothing because I never said it in the first place. and you are right I could not honestly say all who wear the uniform are heroes and i have never said it yet!
I think you have a bias against the military and you are letting it cloud your view.

oh, and i am not brainwashed this site is slower and the damn Green Lantern ads are annoying!!! :)
