Chris Evans Reveals How They Filmed Cap And Bucky's Beatdown On IRON MAN In CIVIL WAR

In a new Captain America: Civil War interview, Steve Rogers actor Chris Evans says that the scene where Cap and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) double-team Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is mostly CGI.

Chris Evans says the fight scene where Bucky and Steve toss Cap's Vibranium shield back and forth to beat down Iron Man was one of the trickiest scenes to shoot in the film. "That's CGI.  It's too impossible to try and navigate actual throws like that and get the shots you need.  That's the tricky part of the shield in general.  Sometimes you have the full, real, heavy shield and sometimes you have the foam shield if you have to hit someone in the face, sometimes it's no shield when you have to do really acrobatic things with it.  During that one, it was a lot miming and really tricky to go back and watch playback [and realize], 'Maybe I threw too soon or he caught too late,' you really have to make sure, even in your miming of the exchange that the timing is still there.  That was one of the trickiest scenes in the movie."

That fight scene was definitely the wow moment of the previous trailer but if the early reactions are any indications, it's just the tip of the iceberg of what Marvel has in store for fans on May 6.  A certain insect is said to have an especially spectacular fight scene.

Well that explains why it looked a bit odd in the trailer, but I'm sure they'll clean it up a bit for the final cut.

@DeusExSponge - In what way did it look odd? That trailer was perfect, especially the 2nd one.

@RickGrimes - The sequence just looked odd to me, like it was a little too fast. Just a small nitpick though.

@RickGrimes - In the way that people on the internet always bitch about CGI looking wonky even though it usually never does.

@DeusExSponge - There super powered beings fighting ironman, there tag team shield tactics should be fast not slower. I understand your nit picking, what a nit pick though, just like when people hated on spider-mans eyes moving.

@Yaf - I have nothing against CGI, just thought that the action sequence looked odd.

@RickGrimes - Yeah it is one hell of a nitpick, but on the other hand I loved Spidey's moving eyes.

@RickGrimes - The moment he showed up, and his eyes moved was glorious! Good lord, I was hyped to the max after that moment. Can't wait to see what role he plays in the movie.

@DeusExSponge - I love that they took inspiration from alex ross and steve ditko for spideys look.

@RickGrimes - Not sure if not liking Spiderman's eyes is nitpicking, since that's a noticeable difference from the comics. However, I'm definitely into it, I think they're supposed to mimic a camera, which is perfect for Peter Parker. But I didn't for a second think that was a fake shield, and I think anyone who says they thought so is kidding themselves/trying to impress.

I'm really excited to see how the action in this film turns out. Most of what I've heard said the fight between iron man and cap is amazing, only rivaled by how Spidey fights in the movie.
