With the release of Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger getting closer and closer by the day, things are certainly starting to amp up for the promotion of the film. Over at Marvel.com they have an article up discussing the differences between Sebastian Stan as Bucky in this film, and the character as he is portrayed in the comic-books, most notably his relationship with Steve Rogers/Captain America. Chris Evans (Steve Rogers) and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige weigh in with their opinions on the character below.

"In the original Captain America comic books, Bucky was a young guy, kind of a sidekick who Steve had to look out for," said Evans. "We did it a little differently, but the relationship is still very well developed. I think it's one of the best in the film--you really care about these two guys."

And exploring those types relationships are what can help make good super hero movies great. Watching our protagonist slice and dice handfuls of malcontents can be worth the price of admission, but understanding what fuels the character emotionally is what defines them as a hero--and why audiences will continue to follow their story.

"This movie takes place over two or three years, so we don’t see everything Cap and Bucky did over that time period,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. "There are many gaps that can be filled in later.”

Captain America: The First Avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving, the film releases July 22, 2011.

I actually thought Bucky would be hard to potray on film but I like this take on Bucky. If Robin was to be potrayed in any future Batman films, I would like to see him like Bucky is in First Avenger.

They are gonna do wh at green lantern dropped the ball on. I didn't feel sinestro turning to the dark side at all nor di di care much about hit character. S when he turns to the yellow spectrum it's not gonna have impact.

If they develop cap and buckys relationship and make you care for it, when Bucky turns to the winter soldier and is caps enemy u will feel that conflict much more. I can't wait to see them turn Bucky. I think the actor they picked has the looks and the skills

@Cable23 They could do Robin in a Nolan-esque Batman film by making him a Batman "immitator" who can actually hold his own rather than getting his ass handed to him like the ones in TDK. He'd end up being Bat's ally, but not his sidekick - more like Dick Grayson as Nightwing.

I won't loose any sleep over the lack of domino mask, to be honest.

And why can't two male characters have a close friendship without it being called a "bromance" anymore?

We havent seen much of Buckey hope he has a big role

For a sequel WINTER SOLDIER

this would make a much more personal battle. Cap would be fighting an old friend instead of a stupid nazi
