Here in the UK, we got Iron Man 2 and Kick-Ass weeks earlier than the US. I can cope with a few extra days wait for Captain America especially as we're getting Thor early. A week seems like a long time, but they'll more than likely start showing advanced previews before that anyway! Plus, I guess it was it always obvious that this would be released in the US first...I am a little pissed that all those other countries beat us to it though! :P

It's about time we get one first. I suppose it would be a crime if Captain America opened all over the world before it hit the states.

@Lansdowne5 - Because the movie is called Captain AMERICA! Of course the good ol' USA and the Northern United States (aka Canada) are going to see it first.

Well, I would have been a bit silly not to give the USA the first look at Captain America after all! Good stuff Josh. I'm looking forward to a trailer for this.

29 JUL 11 corresponds exactly the END of school holiday season. A very bad date to releasing a blockbuster movie.

just to make sure again...its up to the national distributor when they wanna release the movie they bought the rights for... its not the studio or production teams fault.

still, if i were the studio i d do anything to release things in russia way AFTER anywhere else since most camrips etc originate there...

Thorverine & Unionjack; Opening on the weekend of the fourth is a terrible idea no matter what film it is. The majority of Americans that are doing anything on the fourth are cooking out with friends and going to watch fireworks displays. They are held in every single community in America. As nice as Cap would fit on the fourth it would be a deathnell. People are simply to busy on the fourth to fill the theaters.

I agree with those who say a July 4th opening makes sense. With Green Lantern opening a week before the scheduled release of CA, and with the late summer opening date ... I don't see this movie making the money the studio is hoping for.

I used to scoff at the idea of release dates affecting B.O. receipts, but it does appear to make a difference. Earlier in the summer is better.
