At least he recognizes that he won't be Cap (not like he was ever going to be anyway). So props to him for that, even though he was ass-backwards wrong for the role, in almost every conceivable way.

It was pretty obvious Marvel didn't want him. He's literally the EXACT opposite from what they're after. He's Australian and has starred in Blockbuster after Blockbuster lately. . .

Right now, if I had to choose between Sam Worthington and John Krasinski I'd take Captain Australia 100x over! Wow...never thought I'd ever want Worthington as Cap! ;(

Everyone wants to complain about how wrong Sam is for Cap, but has no one noticed EVERY other actor supposedly in the running are just as wrong if not worse than him? I mean really, John Krasinski? REALLY? Like fraking REALLY? Yes I want good acting with my comic movies, but to take a wholly beloved character like Steve Rogers and throw his looks completely out the window in favor of SOME acting skills, is plain IRRESPONSIBLE. Please Marvel, get someone who can ACT and has the LOOKS, is this too hard to ask for?

BTW, what is this complaint that we are going to crap on any suggestion given? Could it be that every option has just sucked?? Either he's not an American and can't even hide the fact in acting, he looks like a reject from the Muppet Show, or he looks like an underwear model. Just because we reject one, doesn't mean we want to replace with the other! Sheesh! That's all I gotta say about it. Oh one more thing; Johnston already said that they're definitely casting an American for the role.

I definitely think an America should play Cap but I'd happily take an Aussie if it meant not having to see Krasinski's gigantic nose sticking out of Captain America's mask! :P

Its down to Hedlund, Krasinski & Vogel. I think all the power people have different choices and are trying to hammer out the details. It all comes down to who is available as well. The Office just got renewed so maybe that takes Krasinski out of the running.

If Krasinski is cast as Captain America, I will hunt down Joe Johnston and kill him! Let him keep making B-Movie shit like The Wolfman and Jurrasic Park 3 rather than risk him ruining Cap's movie! Everything I've heard so far convinces me that he's the wrong guy for the directors chair!

@ Talontd, dude, GREAT CALL! OMG that is awesome, I watch that show every week and I must agree, that guy would be spot on, plus he IS pretty much an unknown, and any other nationality could take speaking classes or get speach coaches, I mean really, there are plenty of non-American actors who play Americans, and get the accent perfect, but you hear their interviews and can barely understand them. Sam could do it, but now I am sold on Jai Whitney. Screw the nationality, make the movie well, get superb acting, and get the story right, thats all we ask...(as if it's such a small matter)

Sorry. I'm a patriot and I love my country. Captain America was made to be a symbol of America's goodness. The least that could be done is to cast an American. Shame upon anyone who says otherwise. I'd give up any other character to differing nationalities. But not Cap. Or any character that represents a country like Capt. Britain! Only a Brit should play him.

Why not just wipe your ass with the flag??? Its just a piece of cloth!! If anyone has any love for their country, they know that isn't right. I feel the same way about Cap.

I don't like Spartacus, I only watch it for the tits and violence basically, as most of the actors suck on it (except Lawless and Mensah) and it looks fake as hell, so I don't know about that guy as Cap.

The actor they get doesn't have to be American. They have to look the part and sound American. Worthington doesn't look the part and can't hide his accent if his life depended on it. If the actor can look and sound American, and can act, but is Australian or something, by all means, give him the part. Take Chris Hemsworth, for example, looks just like Cap and has a great voice, but is an Aussie.

Sam can't carry a straight American voice if his life depended on it, that is one reason why it won't work.

Who says it is just between him and Krasinsky? All this speculation and conjecture makes us all go crazy. Neither of them are fit for the part, especially in the looks category. Neither would look good or believable as a blonde. I am still hoping we will be surprised with a pretty much complete unknown.

I would whole-heartedly agree, as long as it's not a list of American toolbags. If it's the boy band "short list" or someone like Alex Skarsgard, I'm going Skarsgard all the way. America be damned, if the best we can do is a CW cake boy, we don't deserve to cast an American.
