Just when the upcoming Captain America the Winter Soldier film is only 2 months and away, the directors of the film right away confirm the third installment to the first Avenger. They seem confident that the Winter Soldier film will gross over a billion dollars in revenue and from what we've seen in the first trailer, they maybe right and if so, then 2014 now has another potential film competing with other films like Transformers Age of Extinction and the Hobbit There and Back Again all the way up to the top of the box office of this year's highest grossing films.

Also with Chris Evans being confirmed to return after Age of Ultron, speculations now narrow down to the one Avenger that Whedon intends on killing off,

Black Widow
capsc3

I know some of you wouldn't want a character played by a beautiful hottie like Scarlett Johansson to be killed off in the film but apparently beauty and normal martial arts skills aren't gonna be enough for her to survive. And if anyone wants to know why Black Widow would be the Avenger that director Joss Whedon intends on having Ultron kill off it's simple. Scarlett hasn't mentioned anything about returning after the Avengers sequel and hints on her death in the movie are because of Joss Whedon mentioning that her role in the movie will be big as he said that her character's role in the movie will be "significant". Some of you may doubt it but think about it.

01

Whedon wouldn't dare make the robot kill off the two new recruits Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver because with the two mutant siblings being in league with Baron Strucker, Marvel would need those two to survive so that we can see them more after the sequel and I'm sure that Marvel would let them return so that in the future, they can make the ultimate choice to either prove themselves as Strucker's pawns or as true noble members of the Avengers but of course if Strucker and the two siblings survive they would be intended to return for the third Captain America film in order for that to happen

Plus if the Black Widow spin-off Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige mentioned today is in development, it's likely to be a prequel or if it's after Age of Ultron, it will very much feature flashbacks throughout most of the film while having to recover from losing her.

And if Steven Rogers does die in the third film, then if Sebastian Stan's character survives in Captain America The Winter Soldier, then he should be able to take on the mantle as the next Captain America for the third and final Avengers film..com)

I don't understand why everyone assumes that Whedon's gonna kill someone off. I mean yes he did say he had to make the stakes more real. But he never came out and said, 'I AM GOING TO KILL SOMEONE'. That could mean anything. And I don't know why if he is going to kill someone, he'd kill an Avenger. Why not Nick Fury? Why not someone else?

Why would Marvel want to shoot a Black Widow movie after Age of Ultron, and have it set as a prequel? It would just go against the pace and phses of the movie series.

At the end of the day, someone will be killed off, but there isn't much to go off. We know Iron Man, Thor and Captain America will return because Downey Jr is signed on for avengers 3 and the other two have movies after Avengers 2. That leaves Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye. I personally think Black Widow will be the one who dies, but your ideas aren't useful enough to argue the case.

because some of you are not familiar with what point of views some of the characters have to show for it

Lmao. Jesus the DESPERATION for BW and Hawkeye to bite the bullet is just pathetic. Just say you want her to die just like every other hater instead of giving us this "article" with no receipts.

Kill Cap in Avengers 3 after dying in honor for the world, and his team in sacrifice, have Bucky as the new Captain America in New Avengers/A4

*SPOILER (JK)* Joss Whedon loved killing off fan favorite characters in his past projects. I would not be surprised if he does it here again.

Yep I can see Black Widow making that 'ultimate sacrifice' especially now she's hooked up with Cap. Marvel just loves to make Cap the sympathetic symbol.

Not sure about this. Even if it makes sense story wise, it's still a gamble b/c GA love her and they could take a bunch of flack for it.

Whedon kills off MINOR fan favorite characters, not major ones, and I think Black Widow is now a major character. Whedon only kills off major characters if he has a way to bring them back. Look at Buffy. Yes, he killed off, and different points, Angel, Spike, and Buffy herself. But all 3 came back the next season. He did kill Buffy's mom and Tara, and Anya at the very end of the series. On Angel, he killed Fred, but put a demon in her body. And he killed Wes off in the finale.

I do not see Black Widow dying, I think she is too popular now. I'm not sure they'll kill anyone, but if they do it'll probably be either Hawkeye (he's kinda useless anyway), Fury ( if he survives TWS), War Machine (if he's in it), or maybe Thor if they do plan to bring him back.

@spookybear3

No. There is only ONE Black Widow in the comics. That is Natasha. Yelena Belova TRIED to take the Black Widow mantle from her but failed to do so. Lol. In the Ultimate universe there were officially 2. After ultimate Natasha died some one else took her name. Monica Chang I believe.

How does killing black widow make it good for the seeding of this universe? I'm pretty sure if anyone would die it wouldn't be her. I have a feeling hulk is gonna get chucked out into space.

You're right. So that makes 3 in the Ultimate universe. Although the last two were never spies.

First, no major character needs to die to show the stakes are high. Ultron taking over the world would be proof itself that shit got real.
Second, I don't know where you're getting that Marvel expects Cap2 to make a billion. That would be well above the record for an April release, and it's not realistic for this movie. They probably expect to make what Thor TDW made or a bit more at most.

@ gliderman

I totally agree that Cap should not be killed. Its WAY too soon. He's only had two big adventures since being thawed out (Avengers and Winter Soldier). He hasn't even become the icon he is meant to be yet.

However, saying there still 60years of stories to adapt before killing him is a little crazy, especially considering that about 50 years of stories went by before Winter Soldier was ever introduced in the comics, yet here is in the MCU, showing up on Cap's 2nd mission. See what I mean? You can't go by the chronological events of the comics.

Yes Spider-Woman, Peter's clone, in the Ultimate Universe will become the new Black Widow. Not Spider-Man.

I think it'll be too soon to have Bucky take up the mantle of Captain America since there's more stories to tell from the comics which revolve around Steve Rogers (Captain America). If there is going to be death then i'm sure it could be Black Widow or maybe even Hawkeye. They probably would serve there purpose in AoU make a sacrifice which causes one or maybe even both of the characters to be killed off which gives the team a purpose to remain together and work together.

I agree with @0mega. Killing off Thor sets up the Ragnarok storyline nicely for his third movie. He can always come back in Avengers 3 to help fight Thanos.

How about Thor AND Black Widow die? Ultron needs to look formidable... he's freaking Ultron.
