Originally cameo appearances were planned in the film for Namor the Sub-Mariner, the Prince of Atlantis, but this was scrapped.

Originally cameo appearances were also planned for James Logan Howlett (Wolverine) and Erik Lensherr (Magneto), who were present during World War II (Logan was a soldier and Lensherr was a prisoner of war). These cameos were scrapped due to rights issues.

Marvel does own rights to Mamor right?

Logan and Cap were best friends, one of the few he has left, they should have put him in, or do something in the future.

The last two are Bravo Sierra they would know they did not have the rights.

I would have loved to see wolverine cameo! I know the two companies could make a deal for such a small cameo. Come on Marvel dont be cheap, that would've been epic!

I feel as if they could of had a nod to Wolverine with out even really saying he was wolverine.

Skinny Steve could of been at training camp and a man (who you never see anything but his feet) knocks Steve to the ground and says "Out of the way Bub" and then throws a cigar butt on the ground.

They can still make the wolverine cameo.. The captain america sequel is planned to take place during the past.. And I hope they do throw him in, it would be awesome

yep, they could just show some one who looks like him kicking ass and get away with out being sued by Fox.

I loved the way that they slid Wolverine in on the Avengers show in WW2. They could probably get away with something similar to that in a future movie.

Above pic of Wolverine is fraggin' awesome. Cameos by Wolvie and Mangeto would have been sweet. Too bad that didn't happen. :(

CorndogBurglar - 7/25/2011, 8:37 PM
wow.

okay, they can't use Wolverine. Even if they never say his name or ANYTHING. If the character is recognizable in any way shape or form as being Logan, even if they only show his friggin' feet, than FOX would sue their pants off all the way back to the stone age.

thats just how it is.

That would of been very interesting to have wolverine and magneto cause that would of given Marvel studios the chance to have a new version of the X-men, (A Marvel Cinematic X-men franchise would be sweet!!!)

It would've been cool, but all 3 of them are mutants. It'll never happen as lock as c*ckblock Fox are owners of the mutant race. I don't even believe that the idea really happened. I'm sure the writers were well aware of this clause before the movie began...

... development. Why take away the edit button? Seriously? What did we do to deserve the loss of it???
EarOne
EarOne - 7/25/2011, 11:44 PM
actually...yeah...they could just show a short guy (the original version of Logan) with a weird spiky hair, chomping on a cigar as just one of the soldiers fighting alongside Cap, on the battlefield.

with Namor...i dunno, maybe Marvel can say that for a MOVIE Namor, he's NOT a mutant. he's a genuine Atlantean prince, like DC's Aquaman. that way, they can use him, right??
Orphix

Surely this story is all made up nonsense?

Everyone is well aware of the rights issues. Only Namor could have been a possibility.

It's unsubstantiated trivia from IMDB, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if every one of these characters were discussed at some point. Whether or not they ever pursued getting permission from Fox for a brief cameo or not is another matter entirely. Frankly, while it would have been a rush for geeks, I think it would have hurt the overall flow of the film itself.

you didn't need to name Wolverine to give him a cameo in the movie.

they could have Simply put in a clip of him with his Wolverine beard and a cigar in his mouth and had him say Bub and you have your cameo without any repurcussions as there is nothing in any contract that says Jackman can't be in another movie and say Bub
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/26/2011, 7:50 AM
@ lordlegolas

no, there's nothing that says Jackman can't say "bub" in another movie, but there IS something in the contract that says the character of Logan/Wolverine can't appear in other movies outside of Fox. And the bottom line is if Jackman, or any other actor appeared in a Marvel movie, whether you name him as Wolvierine or Logan, or not, if he's recognizable in any way shape or form...if even ONE person looks at him and sees him for what he is supposed to be, then Marvel gets sued.

its the CHARACTER that Fox owns the rights to, not the actor.

and if you're going to do a cameo like that, then you obviously want people to recognize him as being Logan.

So no, it can never happen like that. anyone that says otherwise is just thinking wishfully...or has no idea what they're talking about...probably the ladder...just sayin'

@ comicfan

yeah man, i don't know if its more funny or irritating with some of the comments people make. they try to sound like they know what they're talking about, but they have no idea. like i said, funny or irritating? hard to decide, lol.

anyway, like you said, Wolverine has been shoe-horned up the ass of every corner of the Marvel Universe over the years. He's everywhere, you can't get away from him. I understand he's popular, but what about the people that are tired of him and don't want to see him? They're stuck with him. its ridiculous. I'm actually refreshed that he's not in the Marvel cinematic universe, for that very reason!
