STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Star Ethan Peck Reveals He Auditioned For Lead Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Star Trek: Discovery's Spock, Ethan Peck, has revealed that he was among the actors who auditioned to play Steve Rogers in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. Find more details from him here...

If you were on this site in the late 2000s and early 2010s, you'll no doubt remember the furore surrounding who would play the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Captain America. The Boys star Jensen Ackles was a popular suggestion among fans, as were actors like John Krasinski, Channing Tatum, and Jon Hamm.

A full list of names who actually spoke to Marvel Studios about playing Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger has never been revealed, but we can now count Ethan Peck among them.

While the role would ultimately go to Chris Evans, the Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor (who plays Spock) confirmed he was considered at Atlanta's DragonCon. "I've had a lot of bad ones and some good ones, I guess. But some memorable ones, I was of a smaller few [group of actors] to be considered for Captain America many years ago, which stands out."

"And also," he added, "I came pretty close to the role of The Deep in The Boys."

Peck would go on to talk about what missing out on those big roles is like as an actor and how it's affected him mentally.

"I have a recurring dream - this is the worst audition - where I am reading for Spielberg or someone of that caliber. It's happened a few times," the actor reveals. "I get the callback, and I'm like ready to go, I've signed [up]. And I'm one person away from getting called in, and I'm like, 'I don't know my lines.' And that's a true terror for me."

Things turned out quite well for Peck when all was said and done as his work as Spock has been praised by Star Trek fans. It's also hard to imagine anyone other than Evans playing Steve, and while he's since passed the Captain America mantle to Anthony Mackie, fans remain anxious for him to reprise the role at some point.

Do you think Peck would have made a good Captain America in the MCU?
