Yesterday's exciting MCU Phase 4 preview officially revealed that the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel will be titled The Marvels, and Marvel.com has now followed up that announcement by sharing a brief logline for the movie.

It really doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know, but it does confirm that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers will be joined by Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, hence the "The Marvels" title. It also reuses the "higher, further, faster" tagline from the first film.

"Marvel Studios’ The Marvels will feature Brie Larson returning to the role of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers. In the film, she’ll be joined by Teyonah Parris, who was first introduced as adult Monica Rambeau in Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, along with Iman Vellani, who will appear as Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Disney+ series of the same name. Prepare to experience it and fly higher, further, and faster with the film, directed by Nia DaCosta!"

There's no mention of British actress Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat, Velvet Buzzsaw), but the trades have previously reported that she's be cast as the main villain (Moonstone would be our guess).

In related news, The Ronin has managed to confirm that Candyman production designer Cara Brower will rejoin director Nia DaCosta on The Marvels. Brower's other credits as PD and Arts Director include Our Friends, Jordan Peele's Us and Hail, Caesar!

The Marvels is set to fly into theaters on November 11, 2022. In case you missed it or just fancy another watch, you can check out the Phase 4 preview below.

Awesome! Captain Marvel will have to deal with a Monica Rambeau who probably isn’t interested in being her Lt. Trouble’ anymore. And now she has some power to back up her animosity. IF she has animosity. WandaVision sure hinted at it.

For some reason, ''The Marvels'' sounds more like it could be the name of tv show.

Anyway, I'm glad they add more lead characters. Carol worked best in the first movie when she had someone (like Fury) to bounce off.

@bkmeijer - Cap 2 and Thor 3 show me that Marvel understands when something isn't working, give it a new twist

Either this title is all a clever follow up to this scene or we've seriously taken our eye off the ball here

In all seriousness, I imagine 'The Marvels' is more likely a play on the 'Carol Corps' and is being reconfigured here to focus on Carol's impact as well as Mar-Vell's legacy. Putting Monica and Kamala in this creates a juxtaposition between someone who personally knows and is disillusioned with Carol (Monica) and someone who idolizes her but has likely never met her (Kamala), and that's without even getting to how Carol ultimately responds to them, their individual character paths and the overall plot of the story. Without knowing what the actual plot/conflict of this movie is, that's a pretty unique character dynamic to start with

Cool.

Just give her a compelling story this time around and we're good.
No need to Thor 1 and Thor 2 this franchise.
I'd rather we Captain America 1 and Captain America 2 this one.

She certainly's got it in her.

The first one was an okay one-time watch and an underwhelming movie, so I hope this one is better.

I like this a lot. CM was a decent film, but one of the MCU’s weakest because it doesn’t excel at anything in particular.

Like other Marvel films that fall into certain genres, this gives CM a purpose... hers is the girl power young adult area of the MCU. Might not be my cup of tea, but will give it raison d’etre instead of just being a poor man’s supergirl.

You can always count on a Captain Marvel/Brie Larson article to give Tyrant some extra energy.

It can only get better. CM wasn’t very good but this ensemble approach and the new talent they have behind the camera bodes well.

@BlackBeltJones - "CM wasn’t very good" says the person that contributed to its billion dollar box office?
