He makes dolls out of his victims – and he's tired of being referred to in the media as the Gotham Strangler. His moniker is the Dollmaker, and he and his insane family are going to hunt down Gotham City's public figures and turn them into the ultimate collectables. As the Dollmaker ups the stakes, Batman finds himself in a race against time – because one of his allies is the Dollmaker's next target!

Looks epic, Detective Comics has been my favorite DC line so far next to Justice League. Can't wait to pick #3 up.

Must reach special compartment in utility belt. There's a door. Must reach for the doorknob to open it. There's a bad guy on the other side of the door. Must use fist to punch him in the face. Good job. Creepy villain, lame resolution to the cliffhanger.

Man I used to collect Tony Daniels "Spawn" and "The Tenth" stuff and I got to say that this guys has improved so much! Loving the Dollmaker villain too. I might just pick this up just for the art.

@SteveRogersSon Batman's suit has been "high tech" for years now. He's been had tech in the cowl and belt, they've just recently started with the gauntlets and a few other new things but it fits with the contemporary direction of Comics these days. At least it's not a full suit of armor with blasters and jet boots. Makes sense for a billionaire waging a personal war on crime set in today's time with today's technology.

While I definitely prefer Snyder or Tomasi's writings in the other books, Tony Daniel has certainly started to come into his own as his writing has progressed. His stuff on "Batman" was pretty good, especially the arc involving Black Mask; I really dug that. However, he does have a certain "old school" flavor that is sometimes cringe worthy. But compared to some of the otehr artists-turned-writers that DC has hired--*cough cough Neil Adams and David Finch--Daniel is a welcome addition. He understands his character far better than some; his dialogue just needs a bit of work.

This comic is cool. But hey we all can't be happy. We do need people out there in the world to not like Detective Comics and be ditch diggers.

Anyway nice artwork and the way Batman gets out of very dangerous situations.

I don't like The Dark Knight or Detective Comics, but have enjoyed Batman so far, and Batman & Robin looks like it'll at least be interesting given the ending of #2. Over all though, just too many Bat-related comics in the DC universe to keep up!

1. Batman
2. Batman & Robin
3. Detective Comics
4. Batman The Dark Knight
5. Nightwing
6. Batwoman
7. Batgirl
8. Redhood and The Outlaws*
9. Teen Titans*

*Redhood and The Outlaws and Teen Titans are both a bit of a stretch, but honestly - both teams are lead by former Batman proteges and former Robins, and both books read like it very much. Also, Batman is a main member of "Justice League: International" too, so that list could really almost be 10 books long.

Then again, he's a main member of the JLA and I wouldn't necessarily count that book as a "Bat" book. I guess the difference is that you take Batman out of both teams and the JLA is still interesting, while the JLI is left with Booster Gold and Guy Gardner...
