The graphic novel widely regarded as one of the best Batman stories ever written is getting a second sequel. After Frank Miller returned to his future Gotham in 2001, Scott Snyder, the man behind Batman: Endgame is teaming up with comic book legend Miller (300, Sin City) to write a sequel to the classic Dark Knight Returns, the inspiration to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Snyder has been doing some incredible work on Batman since the introduction of DC's New 52, working on stories such as Court/Night of Owls and Zero Year. According to BleedingCool the story is likely to be set much further into the future than the first story and will revolve around an older Carrie Kelley (the original story's Robin) as she looks for a successor to watch over Gotham once she is gone.
Unfortunately Miller isn't well enough to do the book's artwork and DC are currently considering using various artists for the different issues. Artists such as Jim Lee and Greg Capullo are currently in the running to work alongside the duo.
What do you think of the prospect of another Miller Batman story? Surely Snyder, who has been hitting home run after home run with Batman as of late, can hel to avoid a repeat of The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Sign off your thoughts on the news below.
It's been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants. The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new...and old.
