According to Variety, DC Entertainment and WB have assigned a new PR chief in Courtney Simmons..

Simmons will oversee media relations and internal communications for DC Entertainment and be responsible for developing and leading the PR strategy for the DC portfolio of characters including franchises such as Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash along with Mad magazine, Vertigo titles and other DC properties.

Simmons was previously VP of communications for Disney Interactive Media Group and a communications executive for Sony Online Entertainment. She also ran media relations and government affairs for the Legoland California theme park and for Six Flags' Magic Mountain theme park in Los Angeles.

Hopefully this will mean some more attention is given to Vertigo as was promised by company President Diane Nelson when DC Entertainment was first established. Since then we have had, emm, The Losers. With not even an announcement of any other projects in development. Would be nice to hear about some movement on The Flash too!

Maybe she'll read the opinions of fans like us on sites like these and make a movie or tv show that sticks to canon. I don't want to see a diluted version of some of my favorite DC characters. I could be wrong she'll probably stick to the script that DC has been writing for years.

DC is always behind Marvel... they need to stop talking about making movies and actual put them out... they claim they have the best characters but they've only been able to get three of their big ones in theaters... it's shameful they haven't made a Wonder Woman film and are making a TV series instead...

what happened to this wave of new films they promised to replace Harry Potter? I only see Green Lantern as being a new character ... I loved Watchmen but nobody knows the book outside of comic fiends..

still skeptical about The Flash's development and why we need Green Lantern 2 so soon when Supermax (Green Arrow) sounds a lot more interesting

^ Not that the comics any different. DC Comics are all about the big 5 but thank you Geoff Johns things are changing. Marvel traditionally have more characters turn into comics, even if they have only Spider-Man that can match Batman & Superman in mainstream consciousness.

Yes Marvel have many unique non-legacy B & C listers and in movie making process that's their advantage.

@Ror DC Entertainment was formed barely over a year ago and since then we've had The Losers and Red. That's 2 Vertigo based movies in the one year since then. Um...What else do you want? I'd say that's pretty good.

@ Christopher, they didn't say there would be a "wave". They said the strategy was one or two DC based tentpole films per year. 2011 sees the last Harry Potter film released and Green Lantern. Next year will see The Dark Knight Rises and Superman. They're walking the walk and doing exactly what they said they would do. Once they finish Nolans Batman and get Superman back on track, 2013 will be ready for The Flash and either GL2 or a different character.

Remember Warner Brothers puts out OTHER MOVIES besides CBM's. Comparing it to Marvel whose only purpose is to put out their properties is irrelevant.
