Kevin Smith on Clerks 3: "THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It’s been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion…
CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make"

With no release date yet (obviously). Clerks 3 is said to be Kevin Smith's final film. Expect everyone to be back for the 3rd film.

I don't care what anybody says, I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan and I'm delighted by this news! Bring on Randal and Dante and good ol' Jay and Silent Bob! I'd assume as Smith's last directing role we'll get a lot of old favourites appearing. I reckon we can expect at least cameos from Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jason Lee, Joey Lauren Adams, maybe Chris Rock and Smith's own wife.

Looking forward to this.

YES! Im a huge Kevin Smith fan and I don't know how anyone can not like Clerks. They're really good films. To each his own though.

So glad to hear this is finally getting started.

I can't see why anyone could call Clerks II a horrible movie. I am a huge Kevin Smith fan, and I do respect the fact people have the right to have their own opinions, but look at Clerks all the way to Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back and then look at Clerks II. You can undoubtably see the maturity as a film maker Smith went through. Granted anything outside the View Askew-niverse has sucked.

look Clerks one of my most fave 90's movie. hands down. it really inspired me to pick this field.. however..i think that movie is like a time capsule, much like saturday night fever was to the 70's and all those brat pack flicks to the 80's. so i just don't see the point of keep goin with those characters and world.

gotta say, though..that bit debate between lotr fan and star wars fan in clerks II was pretty enjoyable. so, if he's going ahead with this, i'd like to see a similar scene involving a nolanite and a marvel fan...that would be..interesting.

All his films aren't gold, but I enjoyed both Clerks films, so I'm all for a third. Also, there's some quality work in the smodcast network.

Christ! I find Smith quite entertaining when he's talking he seems like an alreet fella but his writing is so bad it makes me cringe, when i first saw dogma as a youth on the fringe of adolescence i absolutely loved it, however i saw it again a few years back and my god I was such a little idiot when i was younger the dialog in that film is so achingly 6th form its horrific. The guy cant write for shit, it actually embarrasses me, it makes me feel bad for the guy, i mean he's a fu.cking adult.

It's not Casablanca or whatever, but it's a hell of a lot better than Hot Tub Time Machine and other crap that scores high on RotTomato and doesn't make you laugh once or have any kind of social comment at all.

Kevin Smith is the man. Fatman on Batman is hella entertaining, as much as, if not more than, his whole back catalogue. looking forward to this!

I like the Clerks films, not to mention the rest of the "View Askewniverse". Is it "Shakespeare"? Not quite. Is he a Martin Scorsese or Steven Spielberg level filmmaker? Come on... he'd laugh his oversized ass off at that idea. But are his characters and their ridiculous banter usually entertaining? Abso-freaking-lutely!

By the way, I can hardly believe that no one here has mentioned that his almost universally hailed best film is "Chasing Amy" - and from a bunch of Comic Book fans, I'm shocked!!!

That being said, Kevin also said that Red State was going to be his last film and the Hit Somebody was going to be his last film, now Clerks III... doest it not occur to anybody that he might just be f-ing with everyone when he says it. It's becoming like Jimmy Kimmel having Matt Damon on his show... it's a freaking joke!
