COMICS: AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED Set To Unfold In Marvel's Ultimate Universe

Dubbed 'Ultimates Disassembled', writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Carmine Di Giandomenico are taking over Ultimate Comics Ultimates with issue #25 from Sam Humphries and Scot Eaton.

"Avengers Disassembled" was a popular 2004 Avengers story arc from Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch. The story arc unfolded to reveal various Avengers members under physical and mental attacks that ultimately proved to be the machinations of an insane Scarlet Witch. At the conclusion, and a few deaths later, the team 'disassembles'. The Ultimate Universe have tackled some classic 616 storylines before but there's always new twist and turns introduced and expect the same to hold true in "Ultimates Disassembled'. The preview art (see below) alone indicates that this new take will most likely only share a link to the original thematically.

Joshua Hale Fialkov on the new series: "Our first story arc is called "Ultimates Disassembled." By the end of this arc, we will have an entirely new set of Ultimates. They will be five of my favorite characters in the Ultimate Universe. The first thing I did when I came in was like, "Look, here's the thing, we've seen these characters for the past 10 years now. Let's explore what it means to live in a world without them.

Yeah. I mean, we can. The difference between the Ultimate Universe and the Marvel Universe is that we can do horrible, horrible things to these characters that in the Marvel Universe would be an approval process. I think in the Ultimate Universe, because the characters are these other versions, we get a little bit more latitude. They killed Wolverine, for god's sake. "

"Ultimates Disassembled" begins with issue #25 of Ultimate Comics Ultimates.

I do not care about the Ultimate universe. Even if I did, all my interest would have died with half the cast of Ultimatum.

The only good thing in the Ultimate Universe was the first few volumes of Ultimate Spider-Man, and that's mainly because they stayed pretty faithful to the mainstream version. Everything else ranged from mediocre to stupid.

And then Ultimatum made it unreadable.

I read the Death of Spider-Man, and that was OK, but nowhere near as good as the early Ultimate Spider-Man stuff. I've heard good things about Miles Morales Spidey too, but haven't gotten around to reading it. It's not high on my list of priority reading either. May check it out in a few years.

I love teh Ultimate Universe, but I hacvve to reckon that lately the plots have become lazier and lazier (along with the art, which has become more and more awful with every issue). I hope this raises the bar, and doesnt end up as another ULTIMATUM (which was the event that screwed the Ultimate universe, IMO... Thanks Jeph Loeb).

I don't know why th Ultimate Universe gets so much hate..

They kill people, because it's what realistically should be happening every issue, and int he Ultimate universe it can happen.
