The villain they mean is Red Skull. And Avalanche appears to have literally been lobotomized. Presumably by someone who wants him to act like an evil mutant in order to provoke retaliation.

The villain they're referring to is Red Skull.
Avalanche seems to just be random..

I don't mind the art, but I'm more excited for Hickman and Opena on Avengers.

1. Thor likes lattes? Really?

2. Why is Cap trusting a guy who's been brainwashed more times than I can count to lead the Avengers? On top of that, why is Havok so nervous to lead when he's led several teams?

3. Way to throw your brother under the bus, Havok.

4. And since when has Cap and Thor been so tight with Xavier? They knew him for like 5 minutes. They never cared about his dream.

Not feeling Marvel NOW! at all. I love Cassaday's work, but what's here is laziness. He didn't draw any of those backgrounds, just dropped in photos.

@PantherX
Right? I notice it with the Thor covers that were shown. It's yellow there so I thought it was his hair at first, then I looked more closely. Such a dumb element.

it seems like they were successful with bringing the mutants more into the marvel u... which is dope. seems like the a vs x arc was just a catalyst for a more open marvel u. i think it looks g-n-a-r-l-y!

I actually kind of like it, but Cassaday's track record for keeping up with a project isn't exactly stellar. I expect delays and/or fill-in's ASAP. Remener's work on Uncanny X Force and Secret Avengers was pretty awesome though.

This is the only good thing coming out of the shitty AVX series.
Rick Remender is a top notch writer. I can't wait to see what kind of hell he brings to the Uncanny Avengers.

AvX was a preview of how shitty MarvelNow is going to be. It should come as no surprise. The mediocre avengers movie made tons of money so now every marvel comic will have something to do with the avengers. This is such bull. The X-men carried marvel for so many years and this is the thanks they get. DC and Marvel really don't care about the fans that have been there for years. All they want is the money. Money from kids who jumped on recently after watching the movie.

Pffft, please BruceKent1! MARVEL or DC haven't cared for their fans since the 90's. Good writing mixed with good artwork was the standard back then. Talent is what drove them… not shitty events that carry very weight when most of what is brought in is then brought out.
I remember the Nineties, good music, good tv, being into comic books wasn't that popular and my wife was still alive. Now it's the complete opposite. What happened to the world?
