@LEVITIKUZ well there not gonna put on it the worlds 3rd best superhero are they it's purely just marketing and trying to sell the book. In terms of popularity it's really neck and neck between spidey and bats because of how successful there movies have been, supermans popularity has declined a bit amoung the general audience due to the fact WB has not taken advantage of him that much since the start of the cbm boom. I have so little interest in Tasm comic book, it's depressing seeing my favourite fictional character being treated the way he has over the last 5 years. It speaks volumes when the 3 best spider-man family books haven't even got Peter Parker in them.

this....is......AWESOME!!!!

Doc Ock just kicked your ass. With science!! haha.

SPOILER: It won't take. Peter's real consciousness will fight Doc, and get control again. Except now he'll have to deal with the damage Ock's done.

Great concept.

So when Chameleon pretends to be Spiderman its ok, but when Doc Ock does it, its the worst thing to ever happen to Spiderman ever? I don't get it.

let's all remember:

a) this won't be permanent. Peter will take his mind back.

b) Doc Ock is a genius. Also he was about to marry Aunt May at one point, so not the craziest thing he's ever done.

c) Ock is gonna try to bone MJ!! eww. and awesome!

d) the s**tstorm Peter will eventually return to will be epic. the Chameleon WISHES he could pull off a caper as good as this!

heres a random theory. Perhaps he gets "cured" by the anti-venom serum used in Spider-Island to make Ock Peter totally weak and forces him to enter another body, giving peter back his body but then he has to use new tech to become superior spider-man.

Kaedus - 11/20/2012, 5:52 AM
@Spideyguy94 - woh dude, there's a difference at the moment.

OMD went against Spidey's character because of the whole Mephisto stuff.

At the moment this is still technically in character, Doc Ock has just one-upped him. And this won't be the end. There's still 2 issues to go. Pete isn't going to be dead and he'll win. Even if he won't be SSM, they won't end the series with a Peter Parker loss. Even if he dies doing it.

@kaedus haha yeah I think I just said that in the heat of the moment. OMD just infuriates me even thinking about it, spidey has had about 2 good stories in 5 years and that is bad. Dan slotts run on spidey has been complete shit from the beginning, the guy just doesn't get spidey at all.

Although the story has it's floors and just looks like a simple bodyswap story, I really like that it was done in a Watchmen "I did it 35 minutes ago" way. It's much better than having an issue of Spidey being captured and the swap being shown. Now readers are wondering when the hell it happened and how.

Its just a story of another Spidey adventure..we all know Peter will survive & overcome yet another villainous attempt to destroy him.

Just sit back, relax, read the book & dont be crybabies.
It should be fun to see how Spidey gets out of this trouble.

So Doc Ock trades bodies with Peter, so he can live on while Peter dies. Are we to assume he is the Superior Spider-Man as well?! I wanted Miguel O'Hara.

First, I love that cover. It has a real old-school feel to it.

As to the 'shocking secret' revealed at the beginning of the comments section, the more I think about, the more I think this is a brilliant story. There was a story back in the '90s- I think it was Kaine that actually killed Peter Parker. Doc Ock nursed Spidey back to health. Parker was shocked to see Doc doing this, and thought it was a trick or a trap. They have this long conversation where Doc Ock tells Parker that he couldn't allow a second-rate guy like Kaine to claim that victory. He saw Parker as an honorable foe, and as he saw it, a foe deserving of a far more honorable death- at his hands- but not now, while Parker was weak. He wanted to put an end to Spidey, but only when Spidey started the fight in peak condition, which would make Ock's triumph honorable. when Parker was healed, Doc Ock let him go, with a warning that they would cross paths again.

I'm probably messing up details, this is from like twenty years ago. I hope someone reading this with a better memory than mine can cite the issues and title this story appeared in.

Anyway, this looks like the culmination of those long-brewing plans. I don't say this much about modern Marvel, but this is really interesting stuff.

People need to chill out,. Number one who really thinks Doc Ock is actually going to be Spiderman forever. Number 2 how many honestly think Peter Parker will really go out like this. Come on people use some common sense. It's an interesting arc which yes has been done before, but if you have been reading Spiderman for the last few years than it would come off as a very interesting arc. Peter has had his life in order for the first time in ever, good job, good life so you know something big has to happen. Just sit back read the comics and see how it plays out before losing it over a story arc that you know nothing at all about.

i don't care if peter eventually comes back. i simply refuse to read a comic where doc ock takes his place. this is just another stunt marvel has to pull because, let's face it, they've run out of ideas for spidey after civil war.

Interesting twist for someone who doesn't read spider-man. It does feel familiar... Where have I seen this from...

People who are pissed about this are idiots, its a plot line that, while for the moment is unpredictable, you can be sure Doc Ock won't remain Pete forever. Enjoy the ride. They haven't run out of ideas: this is a new idea.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 11/20/2012, 7:41 AM
Yeah, this is pretty crazy. An interesting twist. But I haven't read a Spider-Man comic in forever so I don't know what's been happening previously. I think we can assume Ock will be the mysterious Spider-man in the "relaunch". That's insane, but yeah, surely he won't be there for too long and Peter will be back.

He better be back.

AC1 - 11/20/2012, 8:02 AM
At some point they'll probably just reveal that it wasn't a true mind-swap, but it sort of reprogrammed Peter to think he was Ock, and vice-versa. Peter's true personality will slowly resurface, causing a transition from villain to hero during his final (internal) battle with Doc Ock through the pages of Superior Spider-Man. Seems like a really gimmicky storyline though.

I just want to toss this out there but I predicted this a week or so ago on this site in the comment section on the Dan Slott article. So it turns out I am not crazy, and Doc Ock will be Superior Spider-Man.

@xstryker "The only thing whinier than Peter Parker is his fans." Yet another person who stereotypes peter Parker as a whiner and has probably only seen the movies and never read a spider-man comic in there life.

Kind of "The Prestige"

This is killing me. Why can't I remember exactly where this twist is from?
