Announced this year at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel is excited to announce a brand new limited series spinning out of the events of Spider-Verse, SCARLET SPIDERS, written by Mike Costa (Superior Spider-Man Team-Up Special, A+X) and artist Paco Diaz (Superior Spider-Man). This November, Kaine, the Ultimate Universe’s Jessica Drew, and an alternate universe Ben Reilly undertake a quest to stop the evil behind the events of Spider-Verse once and for all -- a quest so dangerous that not all of them will make it out alive!

“Obviously I can’t give too much away just yet, but the group in SCARLET SPIDERS plays a very important role in stopping Morlun,” Editor Devin Lewis tells Marvel.com. “Without this group of three and their mission, there’s a decent chance that the Spider-Men from across the multiverse won’t even survive Morlun’s assault.”

In addition to stopping one of the most fearsome spider-villains in recent years, our heroes will have to learn to cope with one another and that even though they are clones of Peter Parker, they still come from different universes and boast distinctly different personalities. “Kaine really serves as the entry point for readers to this group,” Lewis elaborates. “He’s a mainstay in the Marvel Universe, now, so that gives him a unique perspective on the events of Spider-Verse as they unfold.”

“The Ben Reilly in this story is from a universe where Peter Parker never returned from his time in Oregon during the Clone Saga,” he continues. “When we were having our first conversations on the phone, Mike [Costa] was intent on working out who this guy is. How does he think? What’s his outlook and how is it different from the Peter Parker we all know and love?”

“Ultimate Jessica Drew has already had a pretty rough go of it herself, and one of the things Mike and I discussed and were intent on bringing to the fore was her sense of identity, especially now that she has seen there’s a multiverse rife with Spider-People,” concludes Lewis.

The Ben Riley suit has always been my favorite suit out of all the Spider-Mans. I can't wait to check this out.

Every time I see the scarlet-spidey outfit or any of the sub-attires, it always reminds me of the Spiderman game for Playstation 1...Good Times.

I love the idea of Spider-Verse so a spin-off that storyline works for me. It's like Exiles but with Spideys. I have always wanted a Spider-Man family book or something. With Spider-man's family getting bigger every year it seems a Spider-family book doesn't seem ike a bad idea. It could do stories that are only a few issues long that follow different characters like Spidey, Venom, Kaine, Spider-Girl, Spider Woman, and Madame Web.

Ben Reilly's gloves should be blue not red, only three fingers should be red.

Scarlet Spider has always had the coolest costume IMO. The sweet torn hoodie, spray painted spider, wrist and ankle cuffs. Yes. Also I love Ditko's and Alex Ross' take, with the web flaps underneath the arms.

@ Odin

I noticed that as well. I think it was a mistake possibly because you can clearly see no web lines on his 2 middle fingers that are supposed to be blue and not red. Who knows??

I know that was Ben's later on Scarlet costume. I would rather seen the Scarlet suit with the torn hoodie as well. That was also always my favorite Spider suit.

Crap-- I saw that headline and thought they were bringing the Scarlet Spider ongoing back from the dead. I miss that book... it was the only light in the darkness for me when Otto Octavius was prancing around in Peter's body. Chris Yost knocked that book outta the PARK... it was cancelled way too soon, IMO.

And jeez-- Ultimate Jessica Drew looks awful. What the hell did they do to her costume? She was one of the best-looking characters in the Ultimate universe, and now... blech! That is a goddamn travesty.

On the other hand, HEY-- IT'S BEN REILLY!

Idk... I might give this a look, after all.

The artist drew her costume sloppy. She's the Black Widow now, and that's supposed to be an hourglass shape on her boobs. It's actually an awesome costume when its drawn with care.

I beg to differ.

They made her the new Black Widow? -_-

Man, the Ultimate Universe just can't help fixing things that aren't broken, can it? Even when it's something THEY DID RIGHT. No wonder people are jumping ship from these books...
