Honestly, if you're not reading the excellent work Slott and Yost are putting out for the Spiderman franchise right now please stop commenting on it.

The problem I have with the sheer stupidity of this story is that we have seen it before. How is this not again The Clone Saga all over again. Where villain plans to replace Spider-Man but the replacement tries to be a hero, only to be undone by the real Spider-Man. I don't know how Slott is going to bring him back but you know he's going to which makes you say what was the point of this dumb ish. And just imagine if DC decided to have Lex Luthor switch Bodies with Superman and then kill his old body. But DC wouldn't disrespect they're flagship character like that.

Is it just me or Sandman looks like Ron Perlman
SmokinIndo
SmokinIndo - 8/15/2013, 10:25 AM
@wcwpoet

If Lex Luthor found a way to swap bodies with Supes, the comic would sell out in seconds. It's not disrespecting the character. It's keeping the series fresh and inspired.
CaptainObvious
CaptainObvious - 8/15/2013, 10:26 AM
@the1egend1ives- It is disrespectful. Lex Luthor doesn't stand for truth, justice, and the American way like Superman. Just like Doc Ock doesn't stand for great power and great responsibility like Spider-Man.

I used to hate this whole Superior Spider-Man idea and it did have Smallvile dumbass syndrome at first with people like MJ, Carlie and Aunt May but now I love it! Dock Ock IS a better Spider-Man in terms of efficiency than Peter ever was and I love that he doesn't take shit from anybody and doesn't hold himself responsible for every little thing that goes bad and cries over it every issue.

Oh, wow-- who didn't see THAT coming?

Seriously, this slow, obvious slide towards the inevitable transformation of "Superior" Spider-Man back into a supervillain is predictable as hell. This story is taking a very, VERY similar trajectory to Batman: Knightquest-- the unstable loose-cannon character ends up the hero, spends a year or so trying to live up to the mantle he wears, slowly starts backsliding into extremism, and ultimately goes up against the original hero for the right to bear the mantle.

Other than that last bit, the stories are matching up rather well. Frankly, at this point, I just want to see how they get Peter back and put Otto into a new, pudgy Octopus body. It's gonna happen-- that's not even a question. It's just a matter of how long they intend to drag this out...

Yeahh I've been liking this series, but that's a bit ridiculous. Why didn't they make a team with spidey's supporting anti-heroes. Venom I think is good now, Kaine, Cardiac, Black Cat etc. But now straight up working with villains sounds .... I dunno.
wcwpoet
wcwpoet - 8/15/2013, 10:40 AM
@the1egend1ives I think you're right if it was done as an arc, but to do it as like a YEAR long event sheer insanity. Especially if it was done to essentially kill of the character.

So nobody can guess why spideys acting so different. This should be a dead give away. Pete was never boring. Marvel made him that way. For years octopus failure where followed by more and just cause he has a new body he's this super bad ass that can outsmart anyone. PLEASE!!!! Total joke!

Disrespectful? This is comic book. There is nothing sacred about it. It`s effin Fiction. If you`re too serious about anything comic book, ask yourself: are you living the real world REAL enough when you got so worked up on made up fantasy?
