The end of the Fantastic Four is here! Huge choices that dramatically impact the Marvel Universe are made this February in FANTASTIC FOUR #588, from the creative team of Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta and Mark Brooks! Following up on FANTASTIC FOUR #587, Marvel is pleased to present your first look at the final issue of the long-standing series, guest starring all your favorite Marvel heroes! But the story isn’t over yet because where one door closes, another opens. It’s now up to Reed, Sue, and Ben to make life-changing decisions of their own volition that set them on a course destined to change the Marvel Universe in Johnny’s honor!

"The reaction from fans and retailers to FANTASTIC FOUR #587 was overwhelming and we’re excited to show fans, who have been chomping at the bit, to see what’s next!" exclaims SVP of Sales, David Gabriel. "It may be the end of the series, but it’s the beginning of something much bigger."

Say your final farewells to the Fantastic Four, this February in FANTASTIC FOUR #588!

Oh, good scene idea. I like it when Spider-man has to help other people with these hardships rather than being more narcissistic like he comes off sometimes. I had heard Hickman's run was good. May have to pick this up in the trade.

Yeah end of the series till Jonny is brought back in a year or 2....comic book deaths mean nothing...this woulda had more impact if theyd killed Sue!!!

@IronWarrior Superman and Cap aren't dead...anymore. lol
Torch will either (a) come back, through some simple twist of fate, (b) be continued with another character behind the flames (Franklin?), or (c) never be seen again in comics again, which is highly unlikely.

How about Reed makes an android Human Torch, like the very first one? Would freak the hell outa Sue LMAO He could be Franklin's mentor/friend kinda thing, like Red Tornado was for Young Justice.

Final issue. Then a new #1 and then 12 issues later there just going to put it back to it's original numbering when it hits #600. Marvel have really been bugging me recently. well....I say recently...it's now turned into 4 years.

The Human Torch Will Be Back No one ever stays dead in the Marvel Universe :-) Especially since the fantastic four is a completely crappy comic without Johnny...Using Spider-Man to get people to purchase the comics a COPOUT

I don't like much of what I see in modern comics, but that is a very touching and nicely written scene.

Looks good. I hope they explore Spider-Man's feelings about Johnny's death in more detail though. They were best friends after all! JaySchluffy makes a good point about them only being 12 issues away from #600 though...now I definitely think he'll be back sooner rather than later! :)

grif: I dream of the day when we'll see something like that. If those recent rumours about Marvel Studios having the rights to Daredevil back are true, that's a start!

Ummmm, did anyone notice while reading issue #587 that we never actually saw Johnny die????....We saw him overwhelmed by Annihilus's hordes....Odds are there is a standing order in the negative zone to capture any member of the FF, not kill them.

@fanboy

I agree, I thought Franklin had limitless reality altering powers. Why doesn't he just save Johnny by altering reality? I don't read F4 comics; so, I don't really understand his powers. All I know is that he is a very powerful mutant. Probably even more powerful than Hope Summers. Also, why is he still so young? I figured he'd be older, now. I guess I need to start reading more F4.
