Hey everyone, Hulksta here, and you may wonder the same thing I do sometimes. How villainous are the villains in the MCU. Are they really as dire as the story positions them to be, or are you just falling for a writers ridiculous writing. So let's dive in shall we*

*Hulksta cannot guarantee a scientific formula that ensures accurate results. If you want accurate results, get a calculator.

OBIDIAH STANE (AKA IRON MONGER)

Movies Appeared In: Iron Man

What Was At Stake: Pepper, A Couple Of SHIELD Agents, A Soccer Mom and Her Kids, Iron Man

If you were Tony Stark, or closly associated with Tony Stark, you had something to worry about from Iron Monger. Besided threatening a soccer mom and her kids, there was no real immediate threat from Obidiah.

Villain Threat Rating: 2/10

EMEIL BLONSKY (AKA ABOMINATION)

Movies Appeared In: The Incredible Hulk

What Was At Stake: The Bronx, Betty, Army Dudes, The Hulk, The Leader

Now it get's a bit better, now The Abomination did duke it out with The Hulk in a busy neighbourhood. Shit got smashed, Betty got emotional; and worst of all Emil inadvertantly caused the origins of The Leader. Now that is some pretty heavy stuff right there.

Villain Threat Rating: 4/10

GENERAL ROSS

Movies Appeared In: The Incredible Hulk

What Was At Stake: The Hulk, His Relationship with Betty

Seriously, this dude just wants to kill or capture the Hulk. Whatever dude, dream bigger.

Villain Threat Rating: 1/10

JUSTIN HAMMER

Movies Appeared In: Iron Man 2, All Hail The King

What Was At Stake: Nothing

This dude really was more of a financer then a villain.

Villain Threat Rating: 1/10

IVAN VANKO

Movies Appeared In: Iron Man 2

What Was At Stake: Iron Man, Pepper, Atendees of Stark  Expo

Vanko was willing to kill himself and blow up a ton of drones within the area of Stark Expo to get shit done. This is a guy who is thinking big.

Villain Threat Rating: 5/10

LOKI

Movies Appeared In: Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World

What Was At Stake: Asgard and Midgard

So first off, Loki deceives his brother so that he can rule Asgard, but fails, then he tries to conquer Midgard and put in a pretty solid effort in doing that. Then in The Dark World he offs his adoptive dad and takes over the throne! Loki has done what few other villains ever do, and that's achieve his goal.

Villain Threat Rating: 9/10

THE DESTROYER

Movies Appeared In: Thor

What Was At Stake: A small town

More of a minion of Loki, The Destroyer threatened a small New Mexico town and that's about it. Could he have gone farther if unchecked? Maybe, but of course he was stopped

Villain Threat Rating: 3/10

THE RED SKULL

Movies Appeared In: Captain America: The First Avenger

What Was At Stake: The World

Red Skull wanted to betray his Nazi companions, take over the world, and reshape it in HYDRA's own twisted fashion. While seemingly unsuccessful, the events of The Winter Soldier prove otherwise. So I'll give him points for this.

Villain Threat Rating: 7/10

THANOS

Movies Appeared In: The Avengers

What Was At Stake: Earth, the rest of the known universe

Thanos wants it all man. He doesn't just stop with Earth, he thinks bigger. Grand plans indeed.

Villain Threat Rating: 10/10

'THE MANDARIN'

Movies Appeared In: Iron Man 3

What Was At Stake: A liquor store being out of stock

Pfft!

Villain Threat Rating: 0/10

ALDRICH KILLIAN

Movies Appeared In: Iron Man 3

What Was At Stake: Earth

Killian wanted to overthrow Tony mainly, but he also wanted to control the world, in a subdued sort of way. Is that more evil? Yeah, I'd argue so

Villain Threat Rating: 7/10

MALEKITH

Movies Appeared In: Thor: The Dark World

What Was At Stake: The 9 Realms.

He wanted to cover the nine realms in darkness, that seems pretty evil to me!

Villain Threat Rating: 8/10

ALGRIM/KURSE

Movies Appeared In: Thor: The Dark World

What Was At Stake: See Above

He was just helping his master, mind you he was pretty strong!

Villain Threat Rating: 8/10

THE WINTER SOLDIER

Movies Appeared In: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

What Was At Stake: Freedom

Wiping off people off of HYDRA's list, he was more of a minion for Alexander Pierce but he was so Terminator-like in how he constantly pursued his targets and managed to do so much in his brief time on screen.

Villain Threat Rating: 7/10

ALEXANDER PIERCE

Movies Appeared In: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

What Was At Stake: SHIELD, most of the human race

Pierce wanted to kill a huge portion of the human race and he managed to bring SHIELD to its knees. While not the best villain, he did do well at what he focused on.

Villain Threat Rating: 8/10

BROCK RUMLOW/CROSSBONES

Movies Appeared In: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

What Was At Stake: Not Much

The guy was pretty incompetant overall, and besides threatening a girl and a desk clerk he was pretty much barking and not really biting.

Villain Threat Rating: 1/10

"So first off, Loki deceives his brother so that he can rule Asgard, but fails, then he tries to conquer Midgard and put in a pretty solid effort in doing that. "
...
no not really he just wanted to prevent Thor from ruling because it would have been a bad mistake (to him) and mostly just wanted to ruin his brother's big day he was named rightful king he didn't take the throne (at least not in the first Thor movie)

Were not completely sure Loki killed Odin, that was just left up in the air but whatever he did does have Odin out the pic for the time being, that should take him down a point :D

I liked your description of The Mandarin Movies Appeared In: Iron Man 3

What Was At Stake: A liquor store being out of stock

Pfft!

Villain Threat Rating: 0/10

It shows that some of these Marvel villains arent really a big threat.

Lmao @ the Mandarin's threat! And honestly Brock Rumlow shouldn't even be on here as he is clearly just a HYDRA henchman and is not even developed into Crossbones yet, that will be in Cap 3. His entry is null and void. I would put TWS and Alexander Pierce higher than Loki as well.

@Niklander TWS was hardly taken care of, he was a problem all the way through. Even Pierce held out long because he was prepared for derailing, and like I said above Rumlow should not be on here as his character was just pretty much introduced, but he was also given Falcon a run for his money until the helicarrier crashes interrupted.

It seems that you have a very narrow view of what a villain or antagonist is, but nice write up anyway!

It's so sad to see that there's not one major female villain in there.
It's terrible.

I'm really hoping Enchantress is the main bad guy in Thor 3 because she's a great character, I don't want her working under Loki, make them equals if anything.

It's sad that we haven't gotten Madame Masque as a big screen Iron Man baddie.

Come on CBM universes!

i would have given the Abomination a higher rating. He did tear a few city blocks. Had Hulk not have been there to focus his attention he would have done much more damage. Your Mandarin description is spot on. Its nice to see the MCU have different levels of threats for the villains.

I think obediah should be closer to a 7. Although he wasn't going to take over the world, he sure was about to kill tony. And who knows were it would have gone after that. May have taken some time, but he was pretty darn dangerous.

We're now complaining about not getting a major female villain? Really? Sheesh, people complain to simply complain.

Yah know, we haven't gotten a major black villain. I'm highly offended by that.
