SAN ANDREAS Director Brad Peyton Set To Helm James Wan-Produced MALIGNANT MAN
20th Century Fox's upcoming big screen adaptation of the James Wan creation, Malignant Man, has landed a director in San Andreas' Brad Peyton. Come take a look to find out more now!
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Brad Peyton (San Andreas) will helm 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of the Boom! Studios sci-fi action comic Malignant Man.
James Wan (Furious 7) co-created the comic and was initially expected to direct, but it seems as though his commitments to Warner Bros.' Aquaman has led to him passing on the project. He will however stay on board as a producer, through his Atomic Monster label, alongside Boom!'s Ross Richie and Stephen Christy. Zak Olkewicz has already completed a draft of the script.
Malignant Man follows a patient, Alex Gates, who is dying of a terminal disease and is seemingly resigned to his fate, that is until he discovers that his malignant tumor is actually a mysterious alien parasite that grants him incredible powers. With a renewed purpose and newfound abilities, Gates is tasked with fighting a secret army that lurks behind the veils of society while also uncovering the secrets of his own life.
Wan's most recent directorial venture - The Conjuring 2 - is currently the #1 film in the world, raking in over $40.4 million domestic, $91.9 million worldwide. His next project is the Jason Momoa-starrer Aquaman, which is due out in theaters July 27, 2018. As for Peyton, he just wrapped Frontier, an upcoming six-episode Netflix series that he co-created and coincidentally also stars Momoa. His next three projects (Rampage, Journey 3: From The Earth to the Moon, & a San Andreas sequel) will see him reunited with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
