I read the comments, not all of them (CBM can get PRETTY busy), but a LOT of them. The CBM community and comments have always been one of my favorite things about the site. I know for many that the engagement there is what keeps people coming back. While working on content for the weekend, I thought that a post highlighting what users were discussing might be fun to put together and a fun read for you. Depending on the feedback here, I may even make it a weekly community post…
Three Snyder stories ran and all three got users chatting! His comments about not wanting to make "amusement park ride" MCU movies pulled 65 comments. The longer interview about losing the DCEU, Joss Whedon's Justice League, and consulting on James Gunn's Superman is up to 95, and the Rotten Tomatoes piece on The Last Photograph pulled another 77.
Over 230 comments on three stories alone!
The top-voted reply on the amusement park story came from SuperiorHeckler, who just quoted Snyder's full remark back at everyone, the whole "the ups, the drops, the kind of cruising part" line, and pointed out that people were reacting to a headline rather than the quote. From my experience building and running the sites, that's pretty common.
Right underneath it, BiffDitko took Snyder's "I had no interest in that" and answered with two words: "We Know." Same thread, same upvote count, opposite conclusion. That's been the Snyder argument on this site for about a decade now. He has people that like some of his work, others that LOVE him, some that don't care, and another group that absolutely can't stand him…
Our Lanterns episode 5 piece asked whether DC Studios had finished off Hal Jordan as a character. 103 comments later, the answer from most of you is "no," and many are annoyed. I had my own say on that one Saturday.
KineticAce put it bluntly: "Hal is still a better character than John. Real comic fans know." Plenty of you pushed back on the second part, but it was still the most-liked comment on the piece. Lisa89 skipped the Hal debate and asked whether pure editorials belong on the main page at all. CBM runs on user-generated content, so yes, editorials belong on the homepage. Not only that, good editorials that users will find interesting are ENCOURAGED. Users generating the content is what this site runs on.
The show's still going, so this one isn't settled. Sunday night's episode 6 will probably decide where that thread goes next, or more likely, a new post about the latest episode will strike up a whole new conversation.
The Supergirl streaming story only drew 41 comments, but it was the friendliest thread of the week. A movie that flopped in theaters is sitting at number one on HBO Max, and Puckaluck admitted the word of mouth had them expecting to hate it, then said they didn't mind it and that Milly Alcock has a future as Kara.

And in our X-Men rumor post about which classic members might join the cast, alten2345 caught us: "Rogue wasn't in Giant Size X-men." They're right. Rogue debuted in Avengers Annual #10 in 1981, by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden, six years after Giant-Size X-Men #1 in 1975. She showed up as a Brotherhood villain, and she didn't join the X-Men until Uncanny X-Men #171 in 1983. Good catch, alten2345!
Our story on Lilly Wachowski accusing the Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling and the new HBO series' supporters of "funding trans genocide" is at 115 comments, the top thread in this roundup, and the most lopsided. Most of you rejected the accusation outright, and a lot of the replies went well past rejection into language I'm not going to reprint here because I try to keep the content PG-13. A handful of readers pushed back and were voted down for it. I'll share my personal opinion on this in the comments below!
