Expect A Blond, British John CONSTANTINE For His NBC TV Series

No word yet on what actor will play the foul mouthed occultist in the show, but Bleeding Cool reckon they've at least confirmed that this incarnation will be a lot truer to the comic book character than Keanu Reeves' big screen version. Click on for more.

When it was announced that Hellblazer's John Constantine would be getting his own NBC series many fans were concerned that we'd be getting another Americanized version of the character, but according to Bleeding Cool we can rest easy on that front, as whoever ends up in the role, he will be playing a blond haired Brit. The site maintain that although they may not cast a British actor, Constantine will "be a Londoner, and he’s going to talk with his accent." In the comics JC originates from Liverpool and would have a very distinctive Scouse accent - I wouldn't hold out for that! However, this is still very encouraging news. Who do you think would make a great small-screen Constantine?

There is more to a character than hair color and accent. Reeves must have been pretty great in the role if those are the only two things he was missing.

That guy looks SPOT ON.

Not a bad choice, either. But since he's working on GoT, I think that's highly unlikely to happen

Charlie Hunnam was always my pick, because I'd like to see Guillermo del Toro directing (as he did with Hunnam in Pacific Rim), but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would be great too (Alan Taylor could make some strong episodes I'm sure).

Ugh people want Charlie Hunnam for every blonde superhero, be creative.

Coster-Waldau is busy doing currently the greatest show on TV

I actually really love the idea of Sean Bean. Could work.

Jude Law, all day long. Actually it's kind of a shame that Johnnie Lee Miller has that shit Sherlock Holmes show because he would be great too.

Clive Owen. And what do you mean we shouldn't hold out for the scouse accent? Constantine's accent should be a mix of scouse and cockney with a slight hint of geordie. They should get an actor that can pull that off. Probably best to get a Brit, so that we don't just get Dick Van Dyke as John Constantine.
There is already a very cool British director, so I don't see why they couldn't get a British lead.
I would go for an older Constantine and just use the Hellblazer run as backstory. That would be pretty neat. Also, they need to differentiate themselves from the Dark Universe Constantine, which will likely be the younger version.
Clive Owen is the way to go.

Just dye his hair. If that's not John Constantine, then I don't know who is. Maybe Jude Law or Paul Bettany, I guess. But Clive Owen would be much better.

TheBlackSmith@ Not a bad choice. I was thinking the same thing when he popped up in Wanted. Looks like Sting, but gritty. Good choice.
