NYCC '14: GOTHAM Panel Highlights Include New Details On 'The Joker' And A 'Harley Quinn' Tease

Plenty of new details about Gotham were revealed at the show's panel in New York today, including some hints about which iteration of The Joker we'll see, the chances of Harley Quinn and The Court of Owls making an appearance, and much more. Check it out!

The Gotham panel at this year's New York Comic-Con earlier today featured plenty of very interesting details, with executive producer and pilot director Danny Cannon quickly shooting down the popular fan theory that the comedian seen in the first episode was a younger version of The Joker (paying homage to Alan Moore's classic "The Killing Joke"). He told those in attendance that they're going "way, way back" for their version of the Clown Prince of Crime and revealed that he "probably isn't telling jokes yet." When one fan asked about whether or not we might also see Harley Quinn, Cannon apparently dodged the question before adding, "We’ll get there." The Court of Owls were also mentioned, to which he teased, "We are sneaking in a few things in Season 1. And if FOX lets us have a Season 2, there’s no end to what you will see from them."

There were some interesting details revealed about the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth, with the following lines of dialogue revealed which seemingly reveal that he'll be training the future Batman. It also sounds as if Alfred and Harvey will come to blows soon too!

Bruce: I'm angry all the time. Will that anger stop?

Alfred: I don't know.

Bruce: Will you teach me to fight?

It bugs me that so many of Batman's enemies are going to be like 10 years older than him in this universe.

The Court would be awesome but it took Batman and almost the whole Bat Family to bring them down, so how the hell is Gordon going to stop them?

Gotham has been so disappointing to me, really hope the over-the-top stuff like the kidnappers and balloon killer subside...Penguin will probably save the show...

@netmantriplesec no one in the bat man mythos has ever been his exact age. Many times have the bad guys been older by a few years or younger like freeze. Dent and even joker or other the point of the story is not to have batman rolling around for 10 years vs the joke its to have him. Face and beat a few of the bad guys and then others coming in like clayface or others

I'd rather see a show about Bruce Wayne leaving Gotham for seven years to train to become Batman than this show.

Yeah DCguy, I actually liked the pilot best...has potential to be really good, just gotta find the right tone...I hope it actually gets darker...

The concept works on paper, but in practice this show leaves so much to be desired.

I honestly have no interest in where it's going - I'd rather they jump ahead 10 years for the second season. Now THAT could be interesting.

I'm usually the one who sticks up for the "comic" aspect in comicbook movies and shows, but Gotham imo would be better as dark and gritty, not goofy, that's all...

I don't hate the show, but I agree that it's been incredibly underwhelming. The references are worse than AoS and the script isn't amazing. Hopefully it finds it's footing soon.

Like arrow it starts slow and picks up overall as a show later on so wait and see i enjoy it

That's why this show will fail. They're bringing in all these Batman villains, but there is no Batman to fight them.

GCPD should be dealing with criminals who aren't future Batman villains. Then again, no one would watch the show, if they went that route.

That's why Gotham is such a bad idea.
