Planet Hulk Trailer from SDCC 2009

Planet Hulk Trailer from SDCC 2009

During Friday's Marvel Animation panel, Comic-Con attendees got their first glimpse of the studio's next animated feature, Planet Hulk. Now you can too!

Based on Greg Pak's comic-book storyline (Incredible Hulk issues #92 to #105), the movie begins with the Illuminati (a secret group of superheroes that includes Iron Man and Professor X) sentencing the Hulk to exile on a deserted planet because the big, green guy has become a danger to Earth. While in outer space, Hulk does what Hulk does best -- gets angry -- and causes his rocket to crash land on the vicious planet of Sakaar, where he is captured and eventually becomes a triumphant gladiator.

Yet this Hulk has more on his mind than just smashing baddies. "No one has ever seen the Hulk like this before," supervising director Frank Paur told EW. "What happens if the Hulk doesn't change back into Bruce Banner? Who is the Hulk then? That's where we start playing with the idea that the Hulk is a thinking, rational being. We start to get into the Hulk's psyche -- what makes him tick?" You'll find out when Planet Hulk debuts on DVD in February 2010.

wow, that looks awesome.
However if it isn't given a proper running time I think it will have the same failing as superman doomsday. This is an epic story it deserves more than 90 min.

It does, LEEE777! In fact, I think they may have borrowed the animators that WB/DC uses.

Better looking animation than other renderings of Hulk. His legs finally look a little more proportional to his body. My biggest issue with Hulk Vs. was his tiny legs.

Knight @ Yeah i know that but in that trailer it looks like THE HULK gets shot into space as a prisoner, unlike being tricked!

SabretoothTiger
SabretoothTiger - 7/25/2009, 10:49 AM
ya leee i think they need to stick with just one earth all this infinite universe stuff that dc and marvel have done is really annoyin dont get me wrong i like marvel and some of dc but damn theyre history is so damn confusing cause of all the reimaginings like ultimates and shit that people are starting to not even care about the origins of a lot of characters which takes away from who they are and makes them seem more like just another hero that looks a little bit similar
Imran
Imran - 7/25/2009, 11:00 AM
The thing with comics, writers find it hard to do what has been done before, it feels like copying.. So then they come up with stuff like the Ultimate universe or a new origins story, I find that to be fair.. I mean how many ways can you write that Spiderman was bit by a radioactive spider.

But when the movies decide to go out and stick with the new stuff like an Ultimate's Nick Fury (which I like by the way) that's when people start thinking WTF?.. How can you ignore the first origin story that came about and delve straight into the new shit..

If that makes sense

Fuking-A if this turns out bad I will lose all faith in Marvel. Planet Hulk is what got me back into comics, and has been one of the best stories I have read in awhile. This better be epic!

thwhtGuardian - 7/25/2009, 12:45 PM
yeah, it is a little strange that hulk is imprisoned here, rather than being tricked into space but I won't be nitpicky.

He sounds like Vin Diesel...

@ Dellamorte... The Ultimate Avengers 2 Black Panther was actually T'Challa, but Ultimates 3 Black Panther was Steve Rogers in disguise.

As for Nick Fury, it wasn't actually Fury. You find out the Illuminati used a Fury LMD (Life Model Decoy) to trick Banner, but it was all the doing of Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Mister Fantastic, and Black Bolt. Namor was against the move, Professor X was off planet at the time (but later admitted he WOULD have voted to send off Hulk).

Hope that clears things up!

Marvel would be foolish not to do world war Hulk. They should put it out at the end of 2010, it would be the perfect way to end the year.
