DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS Trailer Sees Krypto The Superdog Assemble A Team To Help Rescue Superman

Warner Bros. has finally released a trailer for DC League of Super-Pets, and Krypto the Superdog is going to need some help as he races into action to save the Man of Steel himself: Superman! Check it out.

We've known about DC League of Super-Pets for a while now, and Warner Bros. finally shared a first look at footage during DC FanDome. As promised, that's been followed by a trailer revealing more about what to expect from the animated adventure (and yes, that's John Krasinski voicing Superman).

The ensemble also includes Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Keanu Reeves, and Marc Maron, but it's Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart who will seemingly take centre stage as Krypto the Superdog and Ace the Bat-Hound. In this trailer, we learn that the former assembles a team of superhero animals in order to rescue the Man of Steel himself.

"In 'DC League of Super-Pets,' Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side," reads the synopsis. "When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes."

It looks like a fun time and is clearly a movie aimed at younger fans of the DC Universe. Something tells us we can probably have fun with it too, though, and this 3-minute sneak peek includes the sort of Easter Eggs that comic book readers should appreciate (even when it does feel a little too much like The Secret Life of Pets with superpowers thrown in for good measure).

We're keeping an open mind, that's for sure, and this first proper sneak peek is worth checking out.

Jared Stern wrote and directed DC League of Super-Pets, and it's currently set to be released in theaters on May 20, 2022. You can watch the new trailer for the animated movie below:

I don’t understand the point of doing this if you’re not embracing the Super Pets fully and just doing it like half way. Like Kryptos fine but Ace is unrecognizable and the rest are just random animals who get their powers like Inhumans or something? The [frick]?

@Asterisk - Yeah lol. Like no kid is gonna care, but WW's pet is an alien kangaroo named Jumpa. Ace don't have powers, lol. The turtle is correct, but the name was Terrific Whatzit.

And the "squirrel" is part of the Green Lantern Corps... Not just a regular squirrel lol.

But again, no kid is gonna care.

@KWilly - but it would be significantly more interesting and get more people on board if they had like an alien kangaroo and a squirrel Green Lantern I think. Just saying they’re going for the lazy route

@Asterisk - Agreed. But these are made by the same studio that made SCOOB so...

@Asterisk - No worries, the children won't notice.

@GeneralZod - they need to stop pussifing kids introductions to these characters

@Asterisk - These animal characters were created 60+ years ago specifically for children and young teens.

@GeneralZod - that’s not what I mean. I’m fine with superhero animals being kid oriented lol. I’m talking about actually adapting the source material and not just changing it some generic shit they think kids will understand better.

Yeaah The Rock and Kevin Hart's involvement kills almost any interest I had for this tbh.

WB giving me that sidelook and saying "Well? You said gimme Superman or give me death, well here it is!"

lel.

But seriously, after watching Sony's Into the Spider-verse i was sure that WB or Marvel Studios were gonna give us something similar, especially after that movie's critical success and yet....basically nothing of that calibre.

I think at least WB should try it.

Wow, I guess it is possible for WB to even [frick] up a Krypto movie. The Rock and Kevin Hart's voices do not fit the characters at all.

Also, why does Ace have super powers, wtf?

All of the resources wasted on this could have made a CG Batman Beyond film

Also Cyborg with an afro looks pretty cool lol.

From these humble beginnings 67 years ago, Krypto has come a long way.

Krypto teabagging Supes, and Cyborg's afro amused me. If they're going to have powered cats and squirrels they could have gone with Dex-Starr and Ch'p, but for the most part the trailer was about what I was expecting.

Mr. The Rock!
For shame!!
You can't use the word 'Ass' in a promo for a kids cartoon!

Here, I censored it for you:

"If you think the JUSTICE LEAGUE is bad, just wait til you see…"

You're welcome.:)

So it's exactly how I said it would be. Krypto, Superman's dog. And a bunch of other animals who really have no place being "Super Pets". Side note: I'm old enough to remember watching Lynda Carter on "The Muppet Show" back in the 70's. (Scr*w you! I'm old!) Anyway, this pig's power of growth is a DIRECT lift from Miss Piggy's powers in the sketch they did on that same show called "Wonder Pig". It's almost like they saw the show and said, "THAT'S Wonder Woman's Super Pet!" Only it's not.

For a kids movie, it looks decent.

Although they seriously messed up Ace the bathound.

Everyone else is probably original characters, should have used actual comic animals like Wonder Woman's kangaroo.

although the turtle might be a reference to that turtle speedster, Fastback

Dwayne Johnson?

The premise has potential, however, this looks absolutely dreadful. I don't understand how Warner Bros animation does DC so well on tv and direct to video yet consistently drop the ball on theatrical releases. Meanwhile, Sony is making the excellent Spider-Verse films. This kind of mediocrity should not be tolerated when the competition is so high. I hope this bombs.

I had really high hopes for this, but it just doesn't look very good. It is possible to make entertainment for kids that adults can enjoy too, but not many people are doing it.

This is for kids. kids will enjoy it. nothing else to be said.
