THE BATMAN: Rewritten Script Will Reportedly Be Finished Before The Year Is Over

THE BATMAN: Rewritten Script Will Reportedly Be Finished Before The Year Is Over

DC has been throwing around all sorts of ideas for future solo films. From Nightwing, to Blue Beetle and Plastic Man. However, the majority of DC fans want to see The Batman and it looks like there's hope.

It feels like director Matt Reeves has been at The Batman for decades. Ever since Justice League came and went, questions surfaced on when we would ever see Ben Affleck's Batman again. Problem is, everything has been up in the air at this point. There isn't an official release date for The Batman yet, and we don't even know if Ben Affleck is coming back to put on the cowl. Regardless, Matt Reeves is definitely on board and hard at work. The best part is that some progress seems to have been made.

Well, that's better than nothing. Reeves previously stated that he wants to start shooting sometime in the middle of 2019.

“I’ve talked about making it a very point of view noir-driven definitive Batman story in which he is investigating a particular case and that takes us out into the world of Gotham,” Reeves added. “I went on a deep dive again revisiting all my favorite comics. Those all inform by osmosis. There’s no continuation of the Nolan films. It’s very much trying to find a way to do this as something that for me is going to be definitively Batman and new and cool.”

Reeves is known for directing highly praised movies such as the new Planet of the Apes films, as well as the original Cloverfield. There should be no doubt he's the right man for the job, but you have to wonder if The Batman will ever truly get off the ground. Time will tell, but it's good to know at least it's not completely dead. If everything goes smoothly, The Batman could see the light of day around late 2020 or early 2021.

What are your thoughts on The Batman and this whole debacle? Leave them all down below.

This is Umberto Gonzalez, so I'm going to take this with a massive grain of salt. Still, what is taking this film so damn long? It's ridiculous.

I hope it's a detective-driven psychological thriller, but that's just my two-cents.

@Darkknight2149 - definitely.

@Darkknight2149 - the fact that he is detective is my favortie aspect of the character.

One of my favorite shows is Luther and the kind of psychological threats he deals with, the atmosphere of that show, is what I want for a Batman film.

@NOVAtheSUPA -
Court of Owls in a live action movie? Take my money now! I would just hope that they do the Court of Owls justice, though (no pun intended). They tend to get butchered in stuff not written by Scott Snyder or James Tynion IV, for some reason. They would be amazing in live action, if done right.

I think Deacon Blackfire is another underrated choice for a Batman movie villain:

Anything, but not another origin. Batman exists now. We get that. Move on. Decades of great stories to draw from. A rogues gallery par excellence. It cannot be THAT difficult.

Rather have an HBO series than a DOA movie.

The question is: will it be or have the potential to be connected to any of the dozens of other DC movies being released this year and in production?

Exclusive!!! I have obtained the notes from WB for the rewrites:

“The story seems to character driven, can’t he just punch something”

“This scene needs more murders in it... and don’t explain why Gordon hasn’t arrested him for this”

“You have used the source material for too much inspiration please ignore the comics”

“We haven’t hinted at other characters outside this movie...WHY NOT?”

“People don’t like dark movies anymore, so here is a copy of Batman and Robin so you nail the tone we are after”

Truly inspiring stuff.

Umberto is just cooking up whatever tiny little bullshit he can to get attention. We haven't heard anything official about it, and he's taking advantage of the situation by throwing literally the SAME f*cking nuggets out there over and over again. Just stop.

Umberto again?

Even if it's turned in by the end of 2018, I'm sure it will still be FAR from complete. Like many others have said, the longer this goes on, the more likely it is that Reeves exits the project. I mean, it's been what, almost 2 years now?

And also, I seriously could give less of a shit about these (25) script rewrites. Tell me when they start casting, otherwise just don't even bother speaking about it.

A movie literally no one cares about at this point. Sorry DC, I don’t why the he11 you went with Batfleck, I was against it the whole time, although I like Affleck, you guys have seriously tarnished your brand. You’ve got Wonderwoman. If Aquaman doesn’t deliver then FU. I love DC, but at this point, you’ve just proven you don’t have the ability to manage these stories and characters. Like a bad NFL team, fire the coach. Warner shouldn’t own this anymore. Give it to Disney, or hell, I don’t even care, you’ve screwed up so much, I don’t even want to see them anymore.
