Marvel Studios may be skipping Hall H this year, but that doesn't mean Marvel won't be well represented during Saturday night's festivities.
San Diego Comic-Con released its Saturday schedule earlier today and while Warner Bros. was unsurprisingly slotted during its usual 10:30 am PST slot, the big schedule surprise comes during the 5:30 pm PST timeslot, which is traditionally reserved for Marvel Studios, but since they're not coming, it's now been booked for a Deadpool 2 panel.
Further details are unavailable at this time, but the description for the Ryan Reynolds-led panel reads, "Prepare for the ultimate superhero landing as Deadpool and pals drop into Hall H for an hour of maximum effort. Expect dirty jokes, broken fourth walls, maybe some spandex, and real, live unicorns!* *Panel may not actually include mythical creatures." Considering it does specifically say "pals," we can probably expect Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, and a number of other co-stars to join Reynolds on-stage during the hour.
In case you were wondering and/or forgot, Deadpool 2 is already out in theaters, so the film's presence at the annual convention is a little curious, to say the least. The David Leitch-directed film has grossed over $722.5 million worldwide ($313.3M domestic; $409.1M foreign), so this could just be an elaborate victory lap, but then again, considering the price of a panel at SDCC, it's highly unlikely that 20th Century Fox would just bring out one of their biggest films as a joke of sorts. An announcement about the future of the R-rated franchise seems more probable than not and since the Disney/Fox merger is still far from being official, any updates will likely be about a potential sequel and/or the X-Force spinoff, although we'd probably bet on the latter for now.
Additionally, following the panel, Comic-Con will be hosting the world premiere screening of Deadpool 2: Uncut, the recently confirmed extended cut that will release later this year when the film hits home video. For attendees, the screening will begin at 10:00 pm PST at the Horton Grand Theatre.
