The LA Times just broke an exclusive story claiming that 20th Century Fox has officially signed VFX worker Tim Miller to direct 'Deadpool'. This wont be Tim's first time working on an X-Men film, he previously did work for 2 other films in the X-Men franchise. 'Deadpool' will be Miller's directorial debut.

Tim Miller has done visual work on 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World', 'X-Men', 'Daredevil', and X-2.

The X-Men spinoff is set to star Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, with a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and Lauren Shuler Donner producing.

yup...Reynolds is NOT doing Deadpool, unless they start production in the following weeks...and he drops out of RIPD....why FOX chose someone who doesnt have any experience in DIRECTINg....i will never know...atleast they have a director....smh...seems that 'Warners wants to do Gl2 faster' now cuz of this news...Warners doesnt want him to be Deadpool..and frankly i dont blame them
Dynamo
Dynamo - 4/8/2011, 3:14 PM
Awesome, now get this made quickly before WB nabs him to do GL2. They can't go wrong with the script they've got.
Hellsing
Hellsing - 4/8/2011, 3:17 PM
so what if he's new doesn't mean shit, you can't judge if the guys any good or not and long as they don't [frick] with the script the zombieland writers then this should be good movie for the fans atleast, and they deserve some credit for making a random extended cameo from a unlikely chracter work. But knowing fox they probably told them to re write the script
Dynamo
Dynamo - 4/8/2011, 3:20 PM
He's done SFX and design work. That's the same kind of work James Cameron had before he made the Terminator.

ummm... still dont believe this will happen, if it does, they will recast RR cuz he is too busy,

@Dynamo- Yeah if they move too quickly with Deadpool, what you end up getting is a totally sh!t film.

@Hellsing

to me it does cause most directors started with a low budget movie to show their talent before getting into big budget movies.

He's only a vfx worker? Please FOX, do not screw this up, I will give the guy a chance, but he better be able to deliver. I'm glad the movie finally has a director but if they are hiring a guy with no experience, well then this could just be a cheap rush. job.
BlackSands
BlackSands - 4/8/2011, 4:02 PM
sheesh.... hell, since Ryan Reynolds loves the Deadpool character so much AND basically KNOWS the character from what he says in the interviews about the topic, they might as well give him the director's chair or co-direct it.

mmm,I don't know,it is said that there's always a first time for everything.
he has worked on some good movies thou (yeah,I liked Daredevil, sue me :P).the effects in Scott Pilgrim vs The World were crazy,I love that movie.
plus, the guys from Zombieland are working on the script,so it could go anywhere

They just need to let this one go. It sounded good when it all first started but now that we are going 84 years of nothing happening but talk....I'll pass thanks.

steve williams was a special effects uy and he was given spawn and that turned out to be a disaster but at the same time a young james cameron who was essentially a designer was terminator so it could go either way to be honest.

Let's face it... If they went from Robert Rodriguez to Joe Shmoe whom we've never heard about, that means they're looking into making a much lower budgeted movie, and will most assuredly also replace Renolds with some other unknown or d-list actor like casper van dien...
I don't think this will be the movie we're waiting for...

honestly i hope this doesnt happen. its just fox shoving out as many xmen movies as they can so that marvel cant have the rights back.
cyberfiend68
cyberfiend68 - 4/8/2011, 4:14 PM
I must say i agree with BlackSands. Ryan Reynolds really knows his Deadpool. He was practically born to play the role. And can anyone else here really think of someone else who can talk half as much shit as is needed to portray deadpool accurately. Probably not. I love the idea of him playing the 'pool and hope this movie gets started soon. RR wouldn't be the first star to work on two movies at once anyway. so gl2 shouldn't pose a big obstacle seeing as how he wants the role that badly.

I still think Seann William Scott would make a great Deadpool. He's a smartass, he's played physical roles and he's a smartass. If Reynolds is out I believe he's the next best choice.
sexfoodcomics
sexfoodcomics - 4/8/2011, 4:40 PM
Fox obviously doenst want to spend a time on this movie and figure it will make money regardless cause of you the movie is about and his following. If people don't see it they will say " well the charac ter isn't too well know" if people do see it but it gets horrid reviews Fox will just keep doing what they are doing.
Luigi
Luigi - 4/8/2011, 4:57 PM
I'll never understand why Ryan can't just be the voice of Deadpool and some stunt man can be him under the mask. If it's as faithful as they're claiming then Deadpool won't spend too much time maskless anyway.
Dynamo
Dynamo - 4/8/2011, 5:00 PM
@Luigi, It's also an origin so you see him before for the scars. You also see him maskless after the scarring too.

That is a great animation, bro!

Speaking of Deadpool, hiring crew members to direct won't do well. Anyone remember "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem"?

@ darkmatter

i agree with you.

its exactly what you need someone who knows nothing about directing films. (sarcasm)

the way deadpool is you need a certain type of director, not vfx guy.

they picked tim miller because his cheap as a $1.00 whore & he will do anything fox tells him, this is gonna be shite.

Reminds me of the FX guys who directed "Spawn". Not only did the film suck but the FX were bad too!
