Disney Closes In On Fox's Assets As Comcast Bows Out - But Will The FANTASTIC FOUR Be Part Of The Deal?

It looks like the Disney/21st Century Fox deal is all-but sealed, as Comcast has decided to formally exit the chase. However, those hoping to see The Fantastic Four join The MCU may be disappointed...

Variety reports that Disney has taken one step closer to finalising that deal with 21st Century Fox none of us have been able to stop talking about, as Comcast has seemingly decided that it's foolish to attempt to compete with that almighty Mouse money and bowed out of the chase.

So, pending an official announcement, it looks like a done deal. However, one set of Marvel characters that fall under the Fox umbrella may not be joining the party.

It turns out that Constantin Films still retains the production rights to The Fantastic Four, and even though they partnered-up with Fox for the past three movies, the fact that we have no idea how ownership of the property is currently divided means there is a chance that The Thing, Human Torch and co. won't be joining The X-Men in The MCU if the deal does go through.

We'll just have to wait and see how this whole thing unfolds, but in the meantime let us know what you make of this. Would The Fantastic Four be that big a loss, or would you prefer to see them mix with The Avengers over The X-Men? Sound off below.

$60 billion is a small price to pay for Marvel's FIRST family.

@TheFamousJMC - They probably won't even have to pay lol

Fox has absolutely trash the FF franchise for the past 15 years, there's no way in hell that Constantin won't be chomping at the bit to partner with the MCU on future FF films. Maybe they can finally start making some money off of those rights lol

@SonOfOdor - F4 will just go on to TV and look like shit too. every1 is expecting Marvel to do something about the property once they get it back. They got blade, daredevil, ghost rider, etc. back and MCU did nothing but give it a tv shows. I know blade is not a tv show.....yet.

@mastakilla39 - Actually, a Blade TV show was made in 2006 with Sticky Fingaz of Onyx.

@TheFamousJMC - without Fox to assist Constantin in making a film the rights may revert back to Marvel anyway.

@TheFamousJMC - I agree but Constantin wanted to do what Fox is doing, shut down their film division and focus on sports. We also have no idea how this works-Marvel had to get permission from Fox in order to use Ego, a F4 property. If Fox had exclusive rights to make these films, that should transfer over, and Disney could make things hellish for this foreign company that doesn't know what it wants to do with itself

I can't see Disney doing this deal without getting the FF family back. If Feige is talking about the next phase being in the cosmos, he needs Galactus and the Silver Surfer. I'm sure they will buy back whatever rights they can from Fox and do a deal w/ Constantin.
