We're not sure anyone would really consider the following a spoiler at this stage, but just in case, spoiler warning!

The first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave us a brief glimpse of a mysterious figure while a familiar voice said, "we should tell him the truth." It was later confirmed that, yes, this was indeed Sir Patrick Stewart, who is set to reprise the role of Professor Charles Xavier for Sam Raimi's sequel.

Now, an international Screen X teaser has found its way online, and in addition to a few snippets of new footage, the winder format gives us a much better look at Professor X in his chair.

Check out the promo below, along with a new IMAX poster.

Stewart is only expected to make a cameo appearance as a member of the Multiversal Illuminati, but his presence obviously opens the door to his fellow X-Men castmates following suit and making the jump to The MCU. Of course, Marvel Studios will most likely reboot the mutant heroes for at some point, but the team could include a few previously established characters.

In Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Michael Waldron.

The Doctor Strange sequel releases in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2022.

Huh.... how are they getting more footage from the sides? Or are they croping the top and bottom? Is this like how cameras film with extra footage on the top and bottom but then we crop to format it to wide screen? Like you see on set camera screens during playback showing the extra footage above and below the crop markers. So are they like pulling from the raw footage to make these side screens? Or are they just distorting the film to give the illusion of depth on the sides? I'm confused by how this works. Can they do this to any and every film?

@ElricReturns - from looking it up now, the only things shot with 3 cameras for this aspect seem to be adverts and Korean movies. Everything else such as MoM is converted in post to fit the ratio. So it does just seem to be distorted to fit the screen like you said

This seems like a terrible way to watch a movie

Anyone here who has gone to one of these? What was it like?

@bkmeijer1 - Yeah, if the pre-vis are to be believed (and Wanda is wearing the same white shirt with blood on it in the trailer), Xavier is gonna be in the Jim Lee / 90s cartoon golden hoverchair.
