Batman is one of the comic book world's most recognizable and popular heroes. Given the announcement that Zack Snyder's Man of Steel takes place in a universe where other superheroes exist, it is very likely we're going to see another franchise in the future. This is an idea I have on the cast for that possible reboot.

Ben Affleck makes great action/drama films. Argo and The Town have both received high praise from critics and moviegoers. I have been considering Affleck as a director for a Batman franchise for a while now, but I never was sure enough about it.

Then, one day, I was in chat and someone said that Affleck was a fan of the comics. That made me sure he would be the director to best handle the situation. Because, as a fan, he wouldn't screw up the source material...as Nolan did.

My idea was to cast someone semi unknown as the caped crusader. The challenge with casting this role is the actor needs to be able to pull off both the rich careless playboy and the dark brooding hero.

Going with my idea of "semi unknown," I went with Davis. I bet a lot of you will recognize him as Reese Witherspoon's ex in Legally Blonde. However, now, he is probably more well known as Alaric Saltzman in the supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries. It was his portrayal of Alaric that made me consider him for casting.

I'm convinced he can be both the rich playboy and the caped crusader.

Of all the actors I've considered for Alfred, Hinds is the youngest (but the way, I also considered Sam Neill and Malcolm McDowell). Hinds is a great Irish actor. Many people would recognize Hinds as Aberforth Dumbledore in the final Harry Potter movie. I'm definitely sure he could be the kind father figure to Bruce.

I saw this in hindsight, he kind of looks like a young Michael Gough.

Everyone knows Affleck is a great director, and he tends to put himself in his movies. So, this really kind of serves as his role within the franchise.

I want to say, EVERYONE KNOWS THE BACKSTORY. So there's no need to put it in the films again. However, Bruce's parents still play a big role in his current life. So they appear in flashbacks.

It seems everyone on this site is against soap operas. That's okay, you're entitled to your opinion. I like to at least look through that pool of actors, because like I said soap operas are this whole untapped reservoir of actors.

I chose Laura because she has this rich, noble beauty that Martha has.

Winona Ryder was also considered.

Esposito is a fairly well known actor, and he's also a phenomenal one. He could play Fox as both the master technician and the man of action that Lucius is.

He's a popular choice for the Penguin actually...but I just don't see it. No denying he's an expert actor. A lot of you might disagree with this choice, but I like it and I think he would OWN this role.

This is a fairly common choice, which you all know I try to go for originality...you know make the choices no one else made before. However, I'm not the familiar with the character to well. However, I also considered Oliver Platt.

This is certainly an unusual choice. Hudson is both a great actress and hot as hell. She, I think anyway, has the look for Vicki.

So in my head, the way the film franchise plays out, Barbara would come first before Dick. Hyland is a great young actress. She has the body for action, even though she has no credits to prove she can do it.

I was gonna make this choice first, but someone beat me to the punch. I didn't want to cast a Disney star, but Howard has a lot of martial arts experience.

Villains: I just want to say that i didn't use all the villains, just some who I thought deserve some screen time.

Need I say anything? Emerson voiced the Joker in the animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. However, physically, I think he'd be better suited to play Hugo Strange.

My original choice was gonna be Kiefer Sutherland, but I felt that he was actually to young. To my knowledge, Deathstroke is in his 60s. Bacon is a good actor who could bring out Deathstroke's ruthlessness.

I know we've seen Bane in both the Nolan trilogy and the Burton-Schumacher trilogy, but we have yet to see him right. Both films played him off as a brutal henchman. He is way more than that. Hardy had it close.

I wanted a Latin actor for a truer bane to the source material. Watch Scandal. Diaz would be a great at making Bane a mental adversary to Batman while the CGI would make him physically superior.

I think Michael could actually play any villain in the Batman universe (minus the female ones). However, his performance in the action film Gamer convinced me he would be best suited for the Riddler. Don't believe me? Watch for yourselves:

This is one of two ideas I'm taking from my live action fan cast for The Dark Knight Returns. Pepper is a HUGELY underrated actor. I first saw him as Lucky Ned in the reboot of True Grit. Looking through his credits, I've seen everything he's been in has been a hit.

This is the other idea I'm taking from the article mentioned above. Rockwell is another underrated but phenomenal actor. His portrayal of an insane inmate in The Green Mile is more than enough to convince he would kill it as the Joker. And just look at the grin.

My mind works in strange ways sometimes. It comes up with these strange ideas. Like this one. While I was looking through options for Harley, I had it in my mind that she HAD to be played by a scream queen.

Panabaker started out as a young actress, mostly doing Disney work. However, she's come a long way from her Disney credits, doing more dark work. With some work, she could be a great Harley.

Manganiello has the physique for Croc, and based on his performance in True Blood he definitely has the voice for Croc.

In my idea for this franchise, Croc would be the first villain Batman faces.

Hot and a good actress. What else is there? And seeing these trailers for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, she has the ability to do action films as well.

Given my idea of originality, Ivy was really hard to cast. I think I hit it on the nail with Knightley though. She has played tough girls and psychos.

Despite his lackluster performance in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Morrison is actually a really great actor. He gave a decent performance as the dying Abin-Sur in the ABYSMAL Green Lantern, he also starred in this New Zealand film called Tracker opposite Ray Winstone.

Graham looks a lot like Morrison, and that resemblance would make her more convincing as Talia. I know she's 12 years younger than Davis, but hey...that age gap worked for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook. The other thing is that age gap would make is believable that she's immortal.

Jason Issacs is an amazing actor who is a jack of all trades. You give him a role, and he'll play it amazingly. He would be both a terrifying and saddening Freeze.

@McCott

Not a bad fan cast at all but at the same time some of your picks I didn't agree with such as:

Bruce Wayne/Batman, not that Matthew Davis would make a bad pick, he wouldn't but when I look at him I don't see Batman at all in terms of being dark, brooding and tortured on every level like Bale, personally I would have went with either Liam McIntyre as Batman or even Matt Bomer as Bruce Wayne/Batman

For Alfred Pennyworth, I was definitely thinking someone older for the role, someone like Anthony Hopkins or even John Hurt as Alfred

As Thomas Wayne I would go with Thomas Gibson and as Martha Wayne I would go with Connie Nielsen

As Lucius Fox I would go with Denzel Washington or even Danny Glover in the role

Bryan Cranston to me he would be great as Gordon but Philip Seymour Hoffman as Gordon is appealing, I will agree but at the same time when I look at Hoffman I can't help but be reminded of Penguin

Michael Chiklis as Harvey Bullock, now this pick, this pick right here I can actually go with and agree with you on

Kate Hudson as Vicki Vale is actually a great pick now that I think about it, and certainly Hudson has never been cast in a comic book movie especially as a love interest, so I will give her a chance as Vicki Vale

Now Sarah Hyland as Batgirl/Oracle/Barbara Gordon and Leo Howard as Dick Grayson/Robin both perfect choices as far as I am concerned...I agree

As Hugo Strange I would go with Christoph Waltz

As Deathstroke I would go with Ron Perlman or even Stephen Lang but if they are going to go with a younger Deathstroke then definitely I would go with Kevin Bacon in that case if they were going younger or even after Bacon I would probably end up going with Sean Bean... now Sean Bean he would definitely be a great pick for Deathstroke

Manu Bennett he would be my pick for Bane or even Jason Momoa as Bane

Michael C Hall as Edward Nygma/Riddler is perfect, I agree most definitely with C Hall as Riddler for sure

As Harvey Dent/Two-Face I would go with Liev Schreiber

For Joker I would go with Jonathan Rhys Meyers but as your Harley Quinn pick Danielle Panabaker is actually a great pick

As Killer Croc I would go with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

But as Catwoman/Selina Kyle I would go with Eva Green, now she would be a great pick

As Ra's Al Ghul I would go with Viggo Mortensen and as Talia Al Ghul I would go with Gemma Arterton

But as Mr. Freeze, Jason Isaacs is actually a great pick, I will agree with you on that

Overall your fan cast was not that bad but could have been better but nevertheless keep up the good work

@Shadow11 Exactly. Those are picks YOU would go for. Promblem is, 9 out of 10 people would also go for it. I'm big on trying to be original.

Michael C. Hall as Riddler and Jason Isaacs as Freeze are freakin' brilliant. Both of them could play any villain of Batman's, but I believe you have found near perfect character choices for the actors. Hoffman as Commissioner Gordon is an interesting and original choice, which is why I love it. I've always seen Hoffman as Penguin, and I think he would be great as him. However, if he lost say, 50 lbs, he would make a fantastic Gordon. I am a little skeptical about your choice for Batman, though, as I believe someone with better acting skills and brooding ability is required. Like the new fan favorite Liam McIntyre. I know it's unoriginal, but dang does he remind me of both Bruce and Batman. Just my thoughts.

Anyways, I applaud you on your originality, good sir ;-)

I love what you've done with the place. Not a bad acting roster. And hey, you might not know this, but your putting Batgirl before Robin in the movie's timeline has precedent--they did that in the cartoon series The Batman.

Thanks again for checking out my "Dilbert: The Movie" fancast.

I'd say a different Bruce Wayne

I'm not saying that Rockwell can't do it, just not do it the way someone REALLY REALLY ideal could.

That being said Panabaker would be a great Harley to have Chemistry Rockwell.

your Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne are great!

Cool Robin, Cute Vicki Vale

GREAT Bullock

Phillip wouldn't be a bad Commisioner Gorden, but I can't help feel that William H. Macy would be better.

SUPERB Lucious Fox

The Alfred Pennyworth choice is very inspired, I'd like to see it play out, not the first or second choice, but for sure a third choice.

I'm going to need a better reason then the ones you've given for the Batgirl choice.

Your Doc Strange choice is of course PERFECT

Chillingly good Deathstroke choice

Great riddler, i'd love to see that.

AWESOME choice for Harvey Dent.

Not my first idea of a Catwoman, but a damn good one.

Somehow I don't think that this is the best Poison Ivy choice out there...even by a long shot.

the Ra's Al Ghul is....BRILLIANCE, seriously just...I love it.

Same with Talia

Mr. Freeze is Genius

Dude, even with my qualms, this cast gets a 10 out of 10 from me

- Ben Affleck would be an interesting pick to direct a new Batman movie!
- Nice original pick for Batman!
- I think Phillip Seymour Hoffman will have to get a little thin before portraying Gordon.
- I'm not sure if you're familiar with Bullock. But have you ever thought of Dean Norris. That's not too original either in terms of casting, but it would be interesting!
- I think we're over Kate Hudson. She hasn't done a good film lately, let alone A film. It's original, but she stinks now.
- Interesting pick for Bane. I didn't know the guy did Scandal. I just know him from Half Baked and Weeds. Great research. He could be great for Bane!
- Wow, when did Panabaker drop cleavage? Thing is, she's a little too young to play against Sam Rockwell. What about my pick, Autumn Reeser? I even thought about Elisha Cuthbert after watching Happy Endings.
- Well, they made Electro into a black character. I guess Killer Croc is next. And I wouldn't be against Joe! Hear that, folks, I approve!
- That's true, Lilly is doing action. I'm not sure if she can do seductive, she seems to sweet. But I'll let the next Hobbit film prove otherwise.
- Ah, the Silver Linings Playbook move, huh? Kat Graham would be cool for Talia. But what do you think of my pick, Milla Jovovich? She can do the accent (Zoolander).

Great cast MCott. A few of these choices I'm not entirely fond of, but a lot of these are amazing.

Not a fan of your Gordon, Ivy, or Harley choices. I don't know your Batman and I think Joe would be wasted as Croc.

But the rest are awesome.

Cheers!

I gotta say that this is a very good and original cast. I absolutely love your choice for Batman Matthew Davis is a good actor and was cool on Vampire Diaries. I also love your Lucius Foz pick because Giancarlo Esposito is a great actor and needs to be in more stuff.

This is a solid cast my only concern is that Joe Maganallio being cast as Croc... I think he could be used in bigger role on a more traditional enemy. Unless your idea would be to allow him to make the best of the Croc and make the Croc well known. Other than that i applaud u sir.
