After looking into Prey, I have decided to write a little something about the story and the characters.

PREY:
Prey is set during the early days of Batman's career as he is struggling to earn the trust of the public and form a working relationship with James Gordon, who is still just a police captain.

The main nemesis of the story is Hugo Strange, a brilliant psychiatrist who holds a professional stake and a personal obsession in unraveling Batman's secrets, including his true identity. He foments a smear campaign to paint Batman as a dangerous madman, and in turn forces Batman to question his own sanity as well as the plausibility of his mission.

Villains:
Hugo Strange
Catwoman
Sal Maroni

Hugo Strange:

Hugo Stranhe is an insane psychologist who knows Batman's secret identity and desires to take the identity of Batman. Just as Batman was familiar with Hugo personally, Hugo knew of Batman long before they met. Enraged he did not kill him when he had the chance, Hugo declared that "The Batman is the only man with the imagination to sense the exact nature of our plans." Hugo had first gained fame in the world of psychology when he claimed to have fully analyzed the Dark Knight from afar. Strange would lend credence to his own claims by learning of Batman's true identity of Bruce Wayne. However, his hatred of Batman turned into more and more of a deranged obsession, using his medical expertise to hatch a series of bizarre plots based around genetics and mind control in order to defeat Batman and possibly take his place.

Catwoman:
Selina Kyle's early life was defined by tragedy. When she was just a girl, her brutalized mother Maria committed suicide and her violent father Brian drank himself to death not long after. Separated from her younger sister Magdalena and remanded to the Sprang Hall Juvenile Detention Center, an abusive state home for orphaned or delinquent girls, she opted instead to take her chances on the streets of Gotham City. Amid the crime and corruption of the poverty-stricken East End district, she survived through petty theft. Sharp wits and an amazing natural skill as a gymnast led to her becoming the slickest cat burglar the Gotham City Police Department had ever dealt with. To protect herself, she studied martial arts. Later ex-heavyweight champ Ted Grant (Wildcat) taught her boxing. For a time, she was the most accomplished thief nobody knew. She was also one of the most generous, spreading her ill-gotten gains among the downtrodden and destitute of the East End. She would have continued to rob with impunity if not for the Batman. Spying the Caped Crusader from her window on one of his first outings, she watched him in action and was suitably inspired to take up her own costume when prowling the Gotham night.

Although originally introduced as an equal opponent for Batman, Catwoman's status as hero or villain is ambiguous; she has her own moral code (she abhors killing, though has resorted to it at times) and has occasionally teamed up with Batman and other heroes against greater threats, even saving the lives of the entire Justice League on one occasion. She represents a gray area in Batman's otherwise black and white life where the line between good and evil blurs, and his attraction to her stems from this perception that, in her way, she's kind of a female version of himself: another dark, beautiful creature that prowls the night

That's about it. It sounds intresting and I think Hardy could pull off Hugo, but who will play Catwoman?

you forgot max court crucial part of the story,i hope they dont just use this as the main source like the other batman movies nolan will take inspiration from different storyline and create his own, the one aspect i would like him to take from this is batman trying to make his public image better by popping up at daytime, which is highly unlikely in a nolan film i know

Nice read, sounds like an interesting plot I'll have to read it, i could see how they could introduce Strange having him on tv in an interview say how he has psychoanalyzed from a far and then later discovering his identity but I don't see how Nolan can do Catwoman... It makes sense to go out with a bang since its his last and introduce a new Tumbler, Batcave, Wayne Manor and an iconic character but it seems difficult to introduce Catwoman and not have her be underdeveloped and underutilized with Strange being the main villain...

You know...they gave hints to the next villains in BEGINS, so there must be something in TDK

Honestly I would see BEN KINGSLEY as HUGO and HARDY as MAX.

They do hint at Black mask in TDK. When all the convicts are on the boat a few of them have a tattoo of a black mask.

@ Dennis

sigh...Hugo IS a physical and mental challenge...

like i've been saying, people obviously don't know enough about Hugo. No one can seem to understand that he can challenge batman physically.

Personally I would like:
1.Black Mask
2.Penguin
3.Hugo Strange
4.Deadshot (Minor)

Black Mask to be picking up the broken underworld, Penguin being the corrupt owner of the iceberg lounge fighting it out with Black Mask in a turf war. Hugo Strange to be a police detective trying to help hunt the Batman and soon becomes obsessed and figures out his identity. Deadshot to have an extended sequence where Black Mask hires him and he chases Batman until Batman takes him out. Overall, the main villain to be Hugo Strange and Black Mask's origin to be explained by Bruce whilst talking to Alfred or Lucius or Gordon. This would make TDKR epic!!

Replace Max Cort with Deadshot...

@corndogburglar
I completely agree...people really underestimate Hugo.

I would rather see Black Mask over Sal, and Deadshot over Max, but Nolan has a thing for putting in very...overlooked characters.

I have a feeling TDKR will primarely be about a mental battle between Bruce and himself.
Something also tells me they would put in Talia...for the reason that Nolan said he would put in new characters.
I think Hugo is THE NEXT PRIMARY VILLAIN. However, Batman will have to duke it out with someone else(or not).
Hugo is a physical challenge and I would like to see that in the movie.
Thanks Guys!
