NEW YORK, 1941
Skinny Steve Rogers, a WWII supporter, will not be accepted into the army. He is saddened, but is glad when his cousin James "Bucky" Barnes, comes to visit. The two have fun together, and when they happen to bump into an old man, Steve quickly apologizes. The man asks Steve about the war. Steve says that he would love to serve, but that he won't be accepted. The man says that he is Abraham Erskine, and tells Steve that he can serve, if he comes to the bookstore on May 16th, three days from then. Steve agrees, and catches up with Bucky.
When he gets to the bookstore, he finds a woman waiting for him.
" Hello, are you Steve Rogers? We know if your lying."
"Um, yes."
"Very good, follow me."
She pulls out a book, and then presses a part of the wall that was reveled. A hidden door opens, and they walk down a long hallway towards a laboratory. There are two other men there, both bulky. Steve takes a shot, along with the other men, and is placed in a coffin-like container. A flash of light comes from the window of each. The containers are opened and Steve steps out, tall and muscular. However, the other men's bodies are burned to a crisp. Steve is horrified by the sight, but is proud of himself and is congratulated.
GERMANY,1941
A man is writing in a diary.
"May 16th. I am saddened to say that Serum X was not able to cure my... condition. But I am a Zemo! I will not rest until I can take off this cursed mask."
He stands up, and walks toward the window. He sighs,looking down on the valley near where he lives. He takes a sword down from his wall, and goes to practice with one of his trainers.
U.S.A ARMY BASE CAMP,1941
"And this is your shield. It is completely indestructible."
" Cool"
" Peggy! Have you heard the news?"
"What? Is it serious?"
"Very. The guy who... made that guy."
"Yes?"
"He was murdered last night. He took his secrets with him."
A funeral is held later that week. Steve mourns with Bucky, Peggy, and other men involved with Operation:Rebirth, along with family and friends. The next day, Steve signs up for war, and Bucky also signs up. Steve trains before joining the fight, and then leads a team of 3 men and a woman. Himself, Bucky, Peggy, and young Nick Fury
GERMANY,1942
" July 27th. Myself and top men are working on a serum much like that of the... american hero. I spit at the mention of his name. Nonetheless, the project was successful. If only that HYDRA spy hadn't killed him. The professor would have been useful, but uncooperative. But I have my methods."
He shuts his diary and starts pacing in his office. The Baron takes his sword and talks to himself.
"I need your blood to perfect the serum. I will take it. From off my blade. Ha Ha."
He goes to practice again. His opponent puts up a good fight, but is impaled like the rest.
"If only you the american."
U.S.A BRIEFING STATION, 1943
"Hello Cap"
"Hi Colonel. What's the mission?.
"You sir, are going to lead an attack on this german castle."
"Why?"
"It has a terrorist living inside, a baron. His name is Zemo. Excellent swordsman."
"Don't worry."
"I won't, and good luck."
ABOVE GERMANY, 1943
"You ready for this guys, cause' you better be."
They skydive out of the plane into the courtyard of the castle. They make their way into the castle, fighting this way and that. They discover sewer passages, and go through to the labs. They see terrible experiments going on, but know they cannot stop them. They make their way toward the Baron's office, but Cap says that only he will go in.
He enters the room, walking calmly as the Baron faces his window.
" Hello Captain."
"Iv'e come to stop you."
"Ah. I only want a cure. I cannot take off this mask. It is glued to my face. I am also horribly disfigured."
"It's still wrong to torture people to help yourself."
"Give me a small amount of your blood, and iI will leave you, your friends, and your country alone."
"No Baron."
"I was only going to take it through a needle. Now I will take from my sword.
They start to battle, going out the door and not even looking at the others. They go through the labs, into the dining hall, past a bunker, destroying everything. The Baron climbs a ladder leading to the top of his castle. He enters a turret, which breaks away, reveling a rocket. It is then when Cap sees Bucky climbing the ladder. He tells him to go back, but Bucky stays where he is. They both jump on the rocket. Zemo sees them,and ejects himself laughing. The pair discover that the plane is set to explode. Bucky gets stuck in a rim on the ladder, and Cap tries to get him free.

He falls and falls screaming "Bucky! Bucky!" Then nothing.
"Bucky!"
"Cap. Calm down"
Where's Bucky? Where am I?
"He's dead Cap. I'm your friend. Your old partner, Nick. You've been asleep. For 70 years, that is."
"What?'
"Have a look outside."
"Fine."
He goes outside, only to find himself in the middle of New York, Present Day.
"Did we... we..."
"Yea soldier, we won."
End Credits Scene: We see a bloody arm floating in water, and Bucky's broken body on a chunk of ice, when a Russian watercraft pulls up.
