Let me be the first to congratulate the next Superman--Henry 'Hank' Cavill--on finally being named to the role that he was, arguably, born to play. Cavill lost out on the role of Superman to Brandon Routh, but maybe it was fate's way of guiding Henry away from a flop and into the hearts of a new generation. While I'm congratulating Henry, let me also be the first to say [FRICK] YOU, BRANDON ROUTH!!! I hope you enjoy working at Burger King, ya douche!

Thank you Tom Welling for the 10 years of playing Clark Kent and I hope you put on the suit and cap off you reign as my generation's Superman spectacularly. Welling kept Superman alive in this generation's heart without ever wearing the cape or suit and for that I respect him.


Now, with the 28 year old Cavill as Superman, who will be his Lois Lane and his nemesis Lex Luthor? Lex will have to be in his early 30s and Lois in her late 20s. Are there any suggestions?



I suggest Colbie Smulders as Lois



I'm drawing a blank on Luthor.

BTW, for a dated superhero, the Cavill casting broke the site. I've never seen that before. I guess we all still love Supes after all.

If your looking for some one closer to cavill's age i would go with olivia wilde she was pretty good in tron but I have not seen her in anything else so really can't see of she's great but she's definitely hot. no offence to both of you but both your "boys" never had a chance in a million years of getting the role. never had a particular favourite and just wanted a relative unknown and looks like we got it. As for lex luthor well I would like it if they hint at clark and lex friendship in the past, that would be cool but most importantly lex luthor should not be the main villain and he shouldn't be played as some goofy character, he needs to be cold and calculated.

routh was a crap copy of reeves and welling is not superman he hasn't put on the suit or done anything superman like. IF cavill pulls it off then to me he'll IMO my generations superman.

@AlexDelarge yeah there not bad picks both good actors personally I wouldn't have a problem with fassbender as lex but a lot of people will say how can he play two big villians. but it doesn't bother me.

and I hope to god that we don't see the lover "triangle" between lois and superman/clark kent. She should have a crush on superman you know like people have on actors and musicians but the guy she should fall in love with is clark kent. some chemistry and banter between the who eve plays lois and cavill would be appreciated routh and bosworth had 0 chemistry

i'm just greatful tom welling didn't get the role,i'll give this movie a chance as long as he fights a decent villain,i don't want to see him against lex luthor for the fourth movie outing.

oh & if the costume doesn't look like the iconic costume this film can kiss my ass.

For Lois, Emily Blunt and Olivia Wilde are the top choices for me.

As for Lex, there is a number of qualified actors that would own the role.

Jason Isaacs
Guy Pearce
Jon Hamm
Daniel Craig
Hugh Jackman (if you can get past the notion of him being Wolverine, he would be a fantastic Lex, his performance in The Prestige is very Luthor-esque)
Paul Bettany
Josh Brolin
Eric Bana

The first 5 would be my top 5, even though Hugh is a long shot.

Was Routh considered? He wasn't mentioned in that Deadline report, but Nolan did promise the fans that he would at least be offered a screentest. Nolan doesn't seem like the kind of guy to go back on his word and Routh doesn't seem like the kind of guy to turn down an offer like that. So what happened there? Did he screentest or what?

Whats really sad here is that those who hate Routh and Welling sit around beating up on two actors who at least took a shot of playing Superman and have made alot of money trying.
Why not at least show some respect to the two and quit knocking someone else.
This site is turning more and more into a forum for those who hate.
