DCCU Of My Imagination: THE GREEN LANTERN

DCCU Of My Imagination: THE GREEN LANTERN

How I would cast and Green Lantern movie and a story-line

This is the second instalment in my imaginary DCCU. It isn’t all imaginary though as I’m going to incorporate the movies that have already been made and viewed. I previously, accidentally posted this in the news section which I have now corrected. So far, consider it in this order:

Martian Manhunter - http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Guido/news/?a=93032 obviously it cannot be release before Man of Steel unless we make Dr Who the director, it is just set several years before.

The Dark Knight Trilogy – We really don’t need to see Batman’s origin again so including this in the continuity. The trilogy was popular and well received so we might as well draw on its success. However recasting and several other changes will be made when Batman reappears.

Man of Steel – I think that a pretty good job was done with this movie and I enjoyed watching a lot. Yes, it has flaws but I think that it is a good base to start a franchise around.

Also included in this universe would be the Arrow and Flash tv series but these characters have not crossed the others paths yet.

The next movie would be – The Green Lantern

It will be somewhat a continuation of the Green Lantern Movie with Ryan Reynolds. I was not a fan of this movie but to reboot and tell the origin story and introduce all the characters again seems like a waste of a film. However, it is best to recast most of the roles and completely change the tone of the movie.

Hal Jordan/Green Lantern – Chris Pine

He has that Hal Jordan charm and arrogance about him and is a talented actor. Just look at his role as Captain Kirk to see that he could handle this role well. I know a lot of people have already suggested Pine but that's because he would be an amazing Hal Jordan, his Captain Kirk is exactly how he should be portrayed.

Sinestro – Robert Carlyle

He will be able to make a very convincingly evil Sinestro but also will be able to portray Sinesto’s decent into evil from a Hal’s Mentor.

Atrocitus – Gerard Butler

I want an Atrocitus that is intimidating and angry, certainly something Butler can do. Also I don’t want a CGI villain, instead some armour around his big physique will make him look stronger than the other characters.

Bleez – Kate Beckinsale

It’s a fairly small role but I want this character to come across as badass when she’s beating down the Green Lantern.

A green lantern is transporting Atrocitus to a prison, they are on a large space craft with several crew members and a prison facility. Atrocitus request to speak to him so his goes into the cell where he has been restrained. He tells the lantern about the prophecy of Blackest Night and how the Guardians have kept it from them. The lantern looks worried and Atrocitus sees this and says that he must make sure he doesn’t let himself feel fear or he will escape. The lantern has a look of terror in his eyes and Atrocitus breaks free from the restraints and slashes him across the chest. As he dies Atrocitus leans over him and says “You have fulfilled your destiny, Blackest Night is coming” and kills him with a final blow. He then kills the crew members and destroys the ship before flying for the nearest planet which is Betrassus.

Hal is driving home from work in the rain on an empty road by the sea very quickly. He turns a corner and the car slides across the road hits a barrier and flips into the air. Before it hits the ground it is engulfed in green light and is held in mid-air before being turned the right way up and placed down. Hal sees Sinestro floating in front of his car and he says to Hal “You are reckless… but your defeat of Parallax shows that you have potential. I have volunteered myself to educate you further in the ways of a Green Lantern. I can feel the great willpower that you have, now you need to learn to use it.” Hal follows Sinestro to his space ship and as they get in Sinestro says “We are going to a planet called Korugar, to investigate some assassinations that have taken place. It is my home planet so no mistakes can be made.” Hal asks why they need a ship and Sinestro tells him “We’re travelling a long way and may need to take prisoners. It’s best if I drive.”

They arrive on Korugar, Sinestro tells Hal to search for anything suspicious whilst he attends to some interrogations. Hal sees the people of Korugar and the way the law enforcers treat them very badly and how there are posters with Sinestro on everywhere. As he flies away from the capital he is struck out of the sky by something. Hal looks around and sees something in a red suit walking towards him. It looks like a green lantern but he has never heard of Red Lanterns. It fires move blasts of energy at him which he blocks. He engages it in a fight and sees that it is a woman Red Lantern. She is overpowering him so he sends a signal to Sinestro who comes to help him. Hal is on the ground and the Red Lantern stands over him, she points her ring at him to make the kill when Sinestro arrives. Before she sees him he fires a green spinning disk at her cutting her in half killing instantly. Hal asks who that was and Sinestro says “that was a Red Lantern, they draw their power from rage. This one was called Bleez, she lived on this planet until she went missing. Now we know what happened to her. Clearly the Red Lanterns are operating nearby, their leader Atrocitus escaped recently.”

They return to the citadel they arrived at and Sinestro tells Hal they need to launch an attack on the rebels on Koruga, as he believes they are behind the assassinations and working with the Red Lanterns. He says that he has located one of their bases and that Hal’s assistance with the attack would be helpful. They arrive at the base with space ships behind them and begin to bombard it, there is little resistance and a few rebels manage to flee. Sinestro thanks Hal for his help and tells him that he making good progress as a Green Lantern.

Sinestro gets a message telling him that a Red Lantern has been spotted on Betrassus so they fly there. As they arrive at Betrassus red light strikes them out of the sky and they fall to the ground. Sinestro attacks Atrocitus as Hal lies injured on the floor. The 2 fight before Atrocitus surrounds Sinestro in red flames. He is straining to repel them and is about to give out when Hal sends green jet planes crashing into Atrocitus then they jump on them and fly away to a nearby city on Betrassus. They receive medical care and Hal sees how the people fear Sinestro so he questions one of them. He is told about the police state that Sinestro runs and how Sinestro runs the sector as a dictator. He is also told about where more of the resistance’s bases can be found. Sinestro enters the room at this point and says to Hal “I heard you talking about more of the resistance’s bases, have you learnt the location of any” Hal replies “No”.

Atrocitus arrives in the city and they go to fight him. This time they work together and defeat Atrocitus. Sinestro is about to kill him when Hal makes him stop and instead imprisons him. They take Atrocitus back to Korugar to the citadel and then Hal disappears. Sinestro is questioning Atrocitus about Blackest Night when a guard runs in to tell him that the rebels are attacking. Sinestro rushes to a balcony to see an army of rebel spaceships and planes attacking with Hal leading them. A battle ensues which centres on Sinestro and Hal. Sinestro tell Hal how he is disappointed in the way he has betrayed him and Hal tells Sinestro how he has become evil and corrupted by power. The battle concludes with Sinestro sending a giant green punch at Hal which he blocks with a shield before cutting Sinestro’s ring arm off with a sword. He picks up the ring and Sinestro surrenders along with the rest of his army. Later Hal is putting Sinestro into a capsule whilst he shouts abuse at Hal. He responds saying “I am exiling you to a distant planet because both the Corps and the Rebels would have you executed. If I hear of you again I will find you and I will stop you.” As the capsule closes Sinestro shouts “Your betrayal has consequences Hal Jordan. Atrocitus escaped during the battle… Blackest Night is coming!”

Chris Pine I like but I want to see an original choice. Everything else in the article I don't like. Especially connecting it to TDKR. I loved TDK trilogy but it should stand alone as it's own trilogy. Face it that world is done. Whenever I see that it completely turns me off from the entire article. You say it's your imaginative DCCU when you only have one original movie in the DCCU that's not a continuation of something else. You want to see an imaginative DCCU?

I like your casting for Hal. But I really think Atrocitus needs to be CGI because any human body (even with armor in) would not be big enough. And I would actually love to see them make a spectacular Red Lantern movie!

@RedHood13 like GliderMan says it's Semi-canon, the events have taken place but when Batman is introduced he will be very different as will the world around him be. It's good to see lots of people also like Chris Pine as Hal Jordan

could work but Gerard Butler is on the border line for me, not sure whether or not you should recast him
