FAN-ticizing: My Take on Having New Armor in Iron Man 3

Could there be a Stealth Iron Man suit in Iron Man 3? Or maybe Ultimate armor?

One of the greatest things about Iron Man is the amount of suits he has in the comic universe, but not all of them should make it onto the big screen version.

No underwater armor, space armor, etc., etc. please.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Ultimate armor make it onto the screen. Perhaps not as his new full-time armor, but as some form of armor to be used for a specific task.

I don't care if it gets destroyed and is a one-time use that is only on screen for only a couple of minutes. It would just be cool to see it and even Hasbro gave a glimpse as to how a film-version of the Ultimate suit would look.

I would really, really love to see the stealth armor make its debut over all else, including the Ultimate suit.

The Bowen Designs version (above) of a stealth suit really nails what the screen version could look like.

Even though director Jon Favreau is not taking part in the third installment, fans still get Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, but bringing in a couple of cool suits could have the makings for another Iron Man film the fan base can get behind and really excited for.

Just my 2 cents, but I really hope Marvel Studios is reading this and takes one of these two suits into consideration.

I'd say they'd update his armour into the new one in the comics like what Iron Man 2 did and maybe an extra suit on the side.

I don't mind updates and upgrades to make improved armour BUT different specific suits for different occasions always seemed a little bit backward looking.

Surely, if he is such a tech-wizard, he should come up with a suit that can do everything. Otherwise it's not very 'special'.

I like to see his suits just develop and be an extension of what has happened before. So, for example, MK 1 could propel him into the air, MK 2 could fly proper, MK 3 solved the freezing problem so he could attain even greater altitude. So the next suit should get him into the stratosphere at least.

Hopefully they should build on all the other aspects of the suit as well (repulsors, flight speed, strength, etc).

Ultimate wont happen, but with the rumours that the 3rd film will have an espionage feel to it, Stealth Armor could make an appearance, although I wouldn't expect it to look exactly like it is up there. It's probably be an upgrade added to his next mainstream armor, with it having some kind of cloaking device installed, which may look like the above image when cloaked as a nod to the comics.

@Orphix agreed, although we're already on Mk 6 in the movies, Mk4 was a slight update of Mk3, which was destroyed in the first film, Mk5 was a portable armor based on Silver Centurion, and Mk6 was the newest one with the new arc reactor to cure his poisoning from the exposure of the chemicals of the arc reactor from the first film.
And sometimes you need different things for different situations, and if he had everything on one armor, it wouldnt be very efficient for him to use, he'd be weighed down by God knows how many weapons, and he'd have countless gadgets to choose from.

@ ACira

Yes - forgot about MK 4 being destroyed and MK 6 with the new improved reactor. Now he has this new found power source goodness knows what MK 7 will be capable of?

Though I admit you can't do ABSOLUTELY everything in one armour I think Stark should be able to make something that almost does. He is, afterall, a brilliantly gifted inventor and superhero in the Marvel Universe.

Doesn't seem like he is pushing the boundaries if he makes one suit for underwater, one for space, one for stealth, etc.

I remember I wrote a piece on here about Iron Man 3, and I mentioned what armors I'd wanna see. The suit he currently wears, the Resilient suit would be an awesome concept. And I definitely want the Ultimate suit too. The only thing is I think the Resilient suit while it does maintain the look from the films to an extent, it's too high concept and far fetched. As the for the Ultimate suit, it may be too different of a look for the films, where each armor while different has a similarfeel to the ones before it.

I think it would be a great nod to the ultimate armor fans if tony first used that as a 'hulkbuster' suit in the Avengers since the suit is bulky, but hulk rips it apart (a nod to those who hate the suit) then tony works on something like the modular or extremis suit without going into great detail of how he made it this way we don't need a big story line (extremis) of a new suit.

i'm hoping for Hulkbuster armor in Avengers.

also, no Extremis. That crap was weak. So his armor is stored in his bones. and when he puts on the suit it just comes out of his bones and the rest of his body and forms on him. and exactly how does that happen without ripping him to pieces? they never explained that, and to me thats lame story telling.

I was never fond of Extremis either. I think one of the main attraction of Ironman is he is just a guy in a suit - and to a certain degree he is trapped in it - or at least to it.

Makes him more vulnerable in many ways.

If the suit just comes out of him it just seems more like a 'power'. And his story of being 'wielded' to the suit is more like that of a mutant. He is stuck with it.

The stealth armor would be cool, but I have never liked the design of the ultimate armor. I really enjoyed seeing the Silver Centurion armor in IM2.

i want something similar to

have it much more sleek and streamlined, very stealthy, with a cloaking device that makes it look black, like ACira said above.

Should this be his only armor in the film? absolutely not.

i'd just like to see this more high tech, lightweight upgrade, as it were. Perhaps utilizing vibranium??
