FANCAST: DAREDEVIL (By Tweeeeenkies3)

It's coming on a year since I last posted a cast on here, so here I am with a new one! Back with a cast for Daredevil, check it out after the jump and let me know what you think.

THE CAST:

Matt Murdock/Daredevil: As a child, Matt was brought up by his father and boxer, Battlin' Jack Murdock in Hell's Kitchen of New York. When his father started working for a mobster, Matt started training himself just in case. Eventually, he came across a blind man who was about to get hit by a truck. Matt jumped in front of the truck, pushing the blind man out of the way. The truck was carrying radioactive waste, which spilled out, hitting Matt's eyes. This caused him to go blind, which also caused his senses to heighten as a result. He now serves as a lawyer in New York by day, but by night, he becomes the vigilante known as the Daredevil.

Who I casted: Logan Marshall-Green

Age: 36
Height: 5'11
Filmography: Prometheus, Dark Blue, Devil
Reason: I wanted a new face around this site for Daredevil. I have grown tired of seeing the same people casted each time, and I felt there were other actors out there for this role. I chose the wonderful actor, Logan Marshall-Green. I wanted an actor who could handle both the dramatic and action aspect. There's a complexity to Matt/Daredevil, and after watching Logan in Prometheus, I really think he'd do a great job. There's a likability and edge to Logan that I think is needed for Matt on screen.

Battlin' Jack Murdock: Little is known about his past, but we do know that he was Matt's father, and he pushed Matt to become successful, so he could have a better life than his father did. Despite that fact, Jack was a successful professional boxer, who made a name for himself. Later in life, he was asked to throw a fight, but refused. After this, he was beaten to death by a gang working for Sweeney.

Who I casted: Linden Ashby

Age: 53
Height: 6'0
Filmography: Mortal Kombat, Teen Wolf, Wyatt Earp
Reason: I wanted an actor who could handle the role of a caring father who must make tough choices for his son. After getting into Teen Wolf, we see Linden's character is exactly that. Playing the town's sheriff, he must make hard choices for his son, and we see he cares. I think that is very important for Jack Murdock. Plus, Linden has done many action roles, and he is trained. So he could easily play a seasoned boxer.

Karen Page: Karen Page was a young woman who started working at the law firm Matt and Foggy worked at. She became Matt's lover interest, becoming infatuated by his secret identity as the Daredevil. She ended up leaving to become a Soap Opera star in LA. There, she became addicted to drugs, and eventually became a porn-star. She later cleaned herself up, becoming an activist, trying to right her wrongs. She later sacrifices her life for Matt, causing her to die at the hands of Bullseye.

Who I casted: Maggie Grace

Age: 29
Height: 5'9
Filmography: Taken, Lost, Lockout, Californication
Reason: I went through multiple actresses for this role, but Maggie really fit for me. I wanted an actress who could portray both kind, loving women, or the complex, messed up characters. She has recently become a very versatile actress, taking on many types of roles. I think she has the ability to pull off Karen's first side of kindness and love for Matt. And her drug addicted side.

Foggy Nelson: Foggy first met Matt in law school, where they become best friends. They eventually started working at their own law firm, where their friendship has face both good and bad times. He has proven he can also be almost as good as Matt as a lawyer. He also ended up figuring out who Matt was outside of the law.

Who I casted: Adam Devine

Age: 29
Height: 5'8
Filmography: Workaholics, Pitch Perfect, Community
Reason: In my mind, Foggy should be there for both the role of supporting Matt and to add levity. He should be humorous, which Adam is. He is a very funny actor, and I think he has enough talent to pull this type of role off. I have not seen him really do serious work, but with his acting skills, I think he could pull it off well.

Elektra Natchios: Elektra was born into a wealthy family, coming from Greece. Her mother died shortly after giving birth to her. At 20-years-old, Elektra and her father, who was a powerful man, were held captive by a group of terrorists, where he was killed in front of her. This would cause her to drop out of college, where Matt also went to. She moved on, going to China, where she was trained by Stick in Martial Arts. Allowing her own impulses to get the best of her, she then joined The Hand. She now works as an assassin in her own right. She has been an on and off lover interest to Matt/Daredevil.

Who I casted: Katie McGrath

Age: 29
Height: 5'6
Filmography: Merlin, The Tudors, Freakdog
Reason: I wanted a new actress for this role, which was rather difficult to choose for. I went through a couple of actresses, but felt Katie had a certain spice to her. Known for playing Morgana in Merlin, where she is a double crossing, menacing sorceress. She proved she could handle the duality between good and evil, which I perfect for Elektra. She has done some action, but with training, she could be perfect for this role.

Bullseye: A deadly killer for hire capable of using practically anything as a lethal projectile weapon with flawless accuracy and deadly force. He is one of the most psychotic and sadistic characters in Marvel and serves as one of Daredevil's most dangerous foes.

Who I casted: Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Age: 35
Height: 5'10
Filmography: The Tudors, August Rush, From Paris with Love
Reason: I had a tough time choosing someone for this role, but I eventually felt like Jonathan could do well. He has recently started playing very evil characters, and will portray the main antagonist in The Mortal Instrument series. I think with his ability to play a multitude of characters will help when it comes to portraying Bulleye's psychotic nature. I really think he could do well.

Kingpin: The self-proclaimed Kingpin of Crime. He is one of the most prominent figures of organized crime in the whole US east coast. He is a mobster, the king of mobsters, controlling organized crime on the east coast with an iron fist.

Who I casted: Kelsey Grammer

Age: 58
Height: 6'1
Filmography: Boss, 15 Minutes, Even Money
Reason: I find that people seem to cast Kingpin only off of looks. People seem to only want to cast someone because they are large, but I think appearance is so superficial. I really wanted someone with a voice and attitude who could portray this crime king. Kelsey has proven that he can become quite intimidating, and could bring a new type of performance to the big screen for Kingpin. He can give a really moving performance, and I think he'd be perfect.

Stick: He was the blind sensei who has trained for Matt/Daredevil and Elektra.

Who I casted: Matt Frewer

Age: 55
Height:6'3
Filmography: Orphan Black
Reason: I chose Matt for this role because of his character in the Orphan Black. He portrays a character who takes on a leading figure in the minds of many. His ability to play influential beings really lets me know he can handle Stick's figure of authority for some characters.

Ben Urich: A journalist who was once set on finding the identity of the Daredevil. He soon became a friend and supporter of Daredevil, and has helped with giving Matt information that can be given. He now tries to find the true identities of villains around the city.

Who I casted: Tony Goldwyn

Age: 53
Height: 6'2
Filmography: Scandal, The Mechanic, Divergent
Reason: I did not want to use Bryan Cranston, because he is so overused for every CBM character. Tony is a fantastic actor, who can portray characters who love to discover secrets and help those in need. I felt his role in Scandal really proved he was a great actor. He will also portray the father of my favorite novel character in the upcoming film, Divergent!

Lady Bullseye: Lady Bullseye is an assassin that works for the Hand. A former sex slave of the Yakuza, she escaped after Daredevil's enemy Bullseye infiltrated and slaughtered the gang. His martial prowess served as the girl's inspiration. I love her....

Who I casted: Grace Huang

Age: 27
Height: 5'7
Filmography: Bloodtraffic, The Man with the Iron Fists
Reason: I chose Grace Huang because of her role in the fantasy/action short film, Bloodtraffic. She was absolutely stunning. She played a vigilante within a war between angels and vampires, who is in search of her sister. She was so badass, and she had such a command in the film. I feel like her strong voice gives her the perfect edge for Lady Bullseye. I think she could really give the character an innocence that could work, given Lady Bullseye's past.

Maya Lopez/Echo: Maya is a Native American woman, who was born deaf. Her father worked for the Kingpin, and was eventually killed by his own boss. As he died, he placed a bloody hand over her face, leaving behind a bloody handprint. As she grew, she realized she could remember anything she sees, and can even copy those exact movements without practice. She now works as Echo, painting a white handprint over her face in honor of her father. She has been a lover of Daredevil before.

Who I casted: Jessica Matten

Age: 27
Height: 5'9
Filmography: A Red Girl's Reasoning
Reason: Like Grace, Jessica was chosen for this role because of a short film. In A Red Girl's Reasoning, she portrays Delia, a vigilante, who is set on revenge after being sexually assaulted for her race (Native American). Her performance was really well done, and it was actually believable. I was impressed by both her emotional level and action skills. After seeing that, I felt she could easily portray Echo, who was also set on vengeance. Plus, you can't go wrong with casting a Native American woman and a Native American character!

Angela Del Toro/White Tiger: Angela del Toro is an ex-FBI Agent who worked on the Daredevil case. She became the White Tiger after the death of her uncle, Hector Ayala, the previous White Tiger, when she inherited his Jade Amulets.

Who I casted: Natalie Martinez

Age: 28
Height: 5'8
Filmography: Death Race, Under the Dome
Reason: Natalie was chosen because of her work in Under the Dome, where she portrays a deputy. She has a knack for playing hard-ass women, and I think a role like White Tiger suits her well. She has the authoritative attitude that fits really well.

Purple Man: A former spy and criminal, who was chemically altered, which caused his appearance to change. He now has purple skin and hair, and works as a villain to control people.

Who I casted: Gideon Emery

Age: 40
Height: 5'11
Filmography: Teen Wolf, Takers, True Blood
Reason: I was originally going to cast Gideon as Jack Murdock, but decided he was far too creepy for the role. I decided he would be the perfect Purple Man. He has a very menacing, creepy feel when he acts, and it fits the Purple Man really well. His role in Teen Wolf really proves her can play this type of villain.

Mary Alice Walker/Typhoid Mary: As a child, she was often abused, leaving her traumatized. During one possible attack, her first of many multiple personalities formed, and she killed the person. Her persona, Typhoid, was murderous and constantly ran a fever. She became the villainess, Typhoid Mary. She now seems to work with Daredevil as an anti-hero of sorts.

Who I casted: Melanie Laurent

Age: 30
Height: 5'2
Filmography: Inglourious Basterds, Now You See Me
Reason: Melanie is an actress who has proven herself extremely quickly that she can act well. She played the femme fatale, Shosanna Dreyfus/Emmanuelle Mimieux in Inglourious Basterds, and has been moving on, becoming an even bigger name. I wanted an actress who could portray a deadly beauty, and I felt her sharp features fit perfectly. I have not seen her play an evil character, but seeing how talented she is, I could easily see her killing this role.

Leland Owlsley/Owl: Leland was a wall-street wizard and got the nickname Owl by his peers. The IRS started snooping and revealed his ties to the underworld. Depressed, he took a serum that gave him the ability of flight.

Who I casted: David Richmond-Peck

Age: 39
Height: 6'0
Filmography: Orphan Black
Reason: Like Matt Frewer, I chose him because of his role Orphan Black. He was creepy as hell, and I thought he would be a good choice. With some makeup, he would also look perfect.

Natasha Romanova/Black Widow: Former KGB agent Natasha Romanova, known as Black Widow, is one of the greatest spies ever and is one of the best agents S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever had. She has been a lover and friend of Daredevil.

Who I cast: Yuliya Snigir

Age: 30
Height: 5'5
Filmography: The Inhabited Island, A Good Day to Die Hard
Reason: I chose my favorite Russian actress, Yuliya Snigir. She is an amazing actress, who showed her action skills in The Inhanbited Island. With her job as a model, she knows how to be seductive, which is needed for Natasha. She did so well in A Good Day to Die Hard, and only proved that she would be great.

I hope you all enjoyed. Let me know what you think below.

I love what you've done with the acting roster. Matt Frewer also scores bonus points as he's had experience with Marvel Comics characters before. You may remember him as the voice of the Leader in the 1996 Incredible Hulk cartoon. He's also done something more along the lines of urban noir in that same realm--he was the main character in an old episode of "Batman: The Animated Series", titled "The Man Who Killed Batman".

You might want to check out (on a lighter note) some of my more recent fancast attempts, and you may just like them: "Spider-Man: The Clone Saga", "Michael Turner's Fathom", and "Sinister Six: The Series".e

Well, I haven't seen you post here in a long frickin' time. Well, let's see what we got.

- I think I saw Logan Marshall Green try martial arts on The O.C. one or few times. I gotta say, I love the pick. I just hope MrBlueSky doesn't mind it, he and I like Alex O'Loughlin.
- Never seen Maggie Grace cast in a role like Karen Page. Very original!
- Not a big fan of Workaholics, so I can't say much about Adam Devine.
- Pretty fantastic choice for Elektra. The European background for McGrath is also a plus! It's better than Jennifer Lawrence, who I seen cast in this other guy's semi-lackluster cast (just can't see it yet).
- Seeing as Kelsey Grammer isn't playing Beast for a long time, I could get behind him as Kingpin. Boss, that is all.
- Interesting choice for Stick.
- In case you didn't know, Natalie Martinez was in a short-lived soap called Fashion House. Don't know why I brought it up, except for the fact that she does have good dramatic skills. But she's good for White Tiger, though.
- Perfect RUSSIAN actress for Black Widow.

This is an EXCELLENT cast!

I didn't EVER think of Marshall-Green as Daredevil. You won me over right there!

Maggie Grace is hot. Well, that's the long and short of it I guess. But that is original too and it works.

Adam Devine I don't know much about, so I'll just assume he's good.

I want someone more...European... for Elektra. But she does have a good look going for her so I'm good.

Rhys Meyers is a decent choice for Bullseye.

I still want Val Kilmer for Kingpin but I don't know if THAT'S ever gonna happen!

Te other villains too are very ORIGINAL and very apt for their roles.

All is all, as has already been said before, One of the best fancasts on the site!

I have literally never thought of anyone for Kelsey Grammer, I thought he would never do something like that. But after he joined something like Transformers 4, anything is possible.

I think he would be amazing as Kingpin.

As leXheX said, this is [frick]ING AWESOME!
Brilliant cast, I'm glad 2 see Logan Marshall-Greene getting more attention; I've actually considered him myself 4 a DD cast, but have yet 2 properly start planning it... Still Grammar as Kingpin is [frick]ing win! I really, really love that choice, I can picture him playing the role similarly to how the character was portrayed in the old 90's Spider-Man cartoon... Only choice I'm iffy about is Myers; he can play villains well and all, but I think he comes off a bit too snobby/regal 4 a role like that...

Anyway, overall great cast, some solid choices and if the actual cast shaped up like this I think we'd b in for a treat! Hope u can return the favour n check out my Avenger's cast!

@RoadDogXXIV...Thanks for the comment, man. Thanks for the more in depth review!

@Jolt17...Thanks!

@aNarcHy2day...Thank you. About my Elektra choice: Katie McGrath is actually European. She's from Ireland! But, thank you for the other comments. :)

@ForeverPower...Glad you think so!

@taran6...Thanks!

@TheSoulEater...I knew some people might not like Jonathan, which is totally fine. Thank you!

@MrDonut...Logan Marshall-Green is a really great actor, so he deserves more attention. I am also really happy and shocked everyone is liking Grammer for Kingpin. That's great! As for Meyres: I can see why you'd think that, honestly. But as an actor, I do think he has the capability of changing that arrogant nature. Thanks for the comment, and I will definitely check out your cast!

LOL... I know she is. What I meant was "Mainland Europe". And yes I know Ireland is technically, and any other sort of "-ally" in Europe... but still.

That said, I already mentioned it is a non-issue. Good choice!

This is near perfect. I love DD and I'm either extremely reasonable when I see fancasts or extremely critical because he's such a great character. I want tosee DD become marvel flagship movie soon.

I say NEAR only cuz I don't know every actor but from what I do know and can see this is fantastic. U would to see DDs 1st year in the law firm with Elektra college flashbacks.

Thumbs way up on this one
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 7/7/2013, 9:10 AM
Although Marshall-Green is my current pick for a reboot Hal Jordan - not just because his last name, I swear - but Matt Murdock shouldn't be bad for him, either; he's that guy who deserves and can carry a big CBM role, I think. If he's not returning as Beast, Grammer will own as Kingpin, while I liked Laurent in Now You See Me, and I think she can do well for Mary. Love your Elektra and Foggy picks, though A Good Day to Die Hard isn't exactly a good starting point to check out Yuliya's performance, but I believe I can be wrong, and I'm surely willing to give her a chance. That's some detailed feedback from me, but as I've said, this simply is a great stuff.

I like it except for the choice for Kingpin. Grammer would bring tremendous emotional presence, but he would not be threatening physically. You need both for Kingpin. Maybe there's a lineman in the NFL that can act too, lol.

Good work!

Well casted. I can't see any flaws with your choices here.

I really ant Mavel to reboot Daredevil now that they have the rights back. But I will say this I thought that Be Affleck did a great job as Matt/Daredevil, his chracterization of him was dead on. And Jon Favreau was great as Foggy. Though I wasn't really impressed with the rest of the casting. And I enjoyed both the theatrical and director's cut.

Thank you to everyone who has commented. It's great that you all have enjoyed the cast, and I really appreciate the kind words.

For those questioning Grammer as Kingpin: I totally understand your concerns that he may not be physically imposing, honestly. He is getting older, but his performance as Beast proved he could be pretty damn powerful, physically that is. But I did cast him for his acting skills over physicality, really.

As for Black Widow: I did recast her, even though I like Scarlett Johansson. I decided not to act as if this was part of the current MCU, but my own little cinematic universe. So I decided to take my own creative direction with her.

Thanks again, everyone.

great choices

As Kingpin I would have went with Ray Winstone but Kelsey Grammer as Kingpin I will say it is interesting but not who I would have chosen

Love Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Bullseye, he would be perfect for the role that's for sure

And I really love your Jack Murdock picks as well as your Karen Page, Stick, and Foggy Nelson picks as well as your Ben Urich pick

Logan Marshall Green as Matt Murdock/Daredevil is another interesting pick but definitely not who I would have chosen, I would have went with either Chris Pine or Armie Hammer

And as Elektra I would have went with Missy Peregrym or Eliza Dushku

As Purple Man I would have gone with Til Schweiger

But the rest of your fan cast I really like a whole lot and I want to see Daredevil get rebooted because if any franchise should be rebooted, it should be The Man Without Fear
