Fancast: Sinestro Corps War

Check out my cast for Geoff John's kickass storyline.

First things first, I'm going to say that the Sinestro Corps War has to be one of my favorite events to come out in recent years, along with Fear Itself, Final Crisis, and  the entirety of Grant Morrison's run on Batman (which was pretty psychedelic). I love everything about, but mostly all of the things relating to stuff mentioned in Alan Moore's Tygers story. Anyway, I was planning on doing a cast for this ever since early 2012, and I'm happy to get it off the ground.

Anyway, enjoy the cast!

Green Lantern Corps:

Chris Pine (Star TrekInto the Woods) as Hal Jordan: A test pilot for Ferris Aircraft, and the Green Lantern of Sector 2814. Hal is in possession of a Green Lantern power ring, which is powered by his willpower, and allows him to create energy constructs of whatever he imagines.

Reason for Casting: Yes, I know this pick is overused, and a lot of you will be calling me a hack for casting him, but I really like Pine. What convince me to cast him was his performance as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek films. He played a cocky and impulsive jackass in those films, and those characteristics fit Hal really well.

Omari Hardwick (Kick-AssMiracle at St. Anna's) as John Stewart: An architecht and former U.S. Marine, who serves both as the Green Lantern of 2814 and as a member of the Green Lantern Honor Guard.

Reason for Casting: Hardwick is a pretty great actor, and I'm convinced he could make a pretty good John Stewart based off of seeing him in Dark Blue.

Jensen Ackles (My Bloody Valentine 3D, Supernatural) as Guy Gardner: A former teahcer and bartender who serves as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 and member of the Green Lantern Honor Guard.

Reason for Casting: I have to thank CBM User DDD for coming up with this pick. Anyway, you need an actor who's great at playing funny assholes for a Grade A Jackass like Guy. And Jensen as been playing Dean WInchester, who's also a Grade A jackass. If Jensen just plays up the asshole side of Dean, then he'd be great as Guy.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Don Jon, The Walk) as Kyle Rayner: The host of the Ion entity who also serves as Green Lantern of Sector 2814. During the war, he gets captured by the SInestro Corps and is forced to become the host of Parallax.

Reason for Casting: Levitt's a great actor, and is good at action, comedy, and drama. I think he'd be great as Kyle, and it helps that he's played an artist before (in 500 Days of Summer).

Michael Dorn (Star Trek: First Contact, Megas XLR) as Kilowog: The Green Lantern of Sector 674, who serves as a drill sergeant for new recruits.

Reason for Casting: Dorn is a really talented voice actor, with a nice, deep voice that fits Kilowog. Plus, it would be awesome to see Worf voice Kilowog!

Cillian Murphy (Sunshine, Breakfast on Pluto) as Salaak: A senior administrator of the Green Lantern Corps, and the Keeper of the Book of Oa.

Reason for Casting: I have a feeling that Mistress Kizuna will be happy that I didn't cast Cillian Murphy in a villian role. Anyway, Cillian has an otherwordly feel and voice to him, and is great at playing intellectual characters. I think he'd be great as Salaak.

John Hurt (Midnight Express, Dogville) as Ganthet: A member of the Guardians of the Universe (who are the founders of the Green Lantern Corps). During the war, he and Sayd are exiled by the Guardians for embracing emotions.

Reason for Casting: I use to have Anthony Hopkins in this role, but decided that he was too overused. Anyway, Hurt's a great actor, and has a sagely, wise voice that fits Ganthet really well.

Judi Dench (Shakespeare in Love, Skyfall) as Sayd: Another member of the Guardians, who is banished with Ganthet for embracing emotions. Together, the two form the Blue Lantern Corps, who are devoted to spreading hope throughout the universe.

Reason for Casting: Like Hurt, Dench is a really talented actress with a pretty distinct voice. She'd do good as Sayd.

Michael Trevino (The Vampire Diaries, Charmed)  as Sodom Yat: A Green Lantern from the planet Daxam, who becomes the new host of Ion after Kyle Rayner is incapitated (just as a prophecy predicted). As a Daxamite, Yat gains the powers of super strength, flight, super speed, super hearing, x-ray, heat, microscopic, and telescopic vision, and super breath. The Ion entity grants the user the abilities of a Green Lantern power ring without the need for one.

Reason for Casting: I have to thank RoadDogXXIV for this pick. Anyway, I haven't see much of Trevino's acting, but he has the right look and feel to him that'll work with Sodam Yat.

Peter Cullen (Predator, Transformers: Age of Extinction) as Mogo, the Living Planet (voice): A living, sentient planet who is prophisied to be the last Green Lantern. Asides from the abilities of a Green Lantern, Mogo can alter his weather and surface conditions, and travel through space at faster than light speeds.

Reason for Casting: Cullen's a fantastic voice actor, and I think that his deep, booming voice would work well with Mogo.

Sinestro Corps

Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek Into Darkness, 12 Years A Slave) as Thaal Sinestro: A disgraced member of the Green Lantern Corps, who makes a deal with the Anti-Monitor to spread fear throughout the universe, creating the Sinestro Cirps. Sinenstro is in possession of a yellow power ring, which allows him the abilities flight, and can create yellow energy constructs. The power ring is powered by fear.

Reason for Casting: I've decided to retire my old pick of Gary Oldman, sincd he's getting up there in age. Anyway, Cumberbatch is a fantastic actor, and is really entertaining to watch. It was his performance as John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness that convinced me to cast him. He rocked there, and he would rock as Sinestro.

Steve Blum (Cowboy BebopBen 10) as Hank Henshaw/the Cyborg Superman (voice, with Henry Cavill's likeness): A former astronanunt turned evil cyborg, who was imprisoned by the Green Lantern Corps until being freed by the Sinestro corps and subsequently joining them. Henshaw has the abilities of Superman (including flight, super strength, invulnerablility, superbreath, heat vision, x-ray vision,  and miscroscopic vision), along with the ability of technopathy, and is in possession of a yellow power ring.

Reaso for Casting: Blum is a really fantastic voice actor, and I really think he can nail the role of the Cyborg Superman.

Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, Life) as Clark Kent/Superboy Prime (or as I like to call him, "Super Crybaby Prime"): A hero turned villain from Earth Prime, who was imprisoned by the Green Lantern Corps before being freed by the SInestro Corps and subsequently joining them. Prime has the abilities of the Silver Age Superman (including superhuman strength, speed, endurance, a healing factor, heat vision, x-ray vision, invulnerability, flight, superhuman hearing, microscopic vision, and vortex breath), and does not possess the weaknesses to kryotonite and magic. He also wears a power suit that collects and feeds him yellow solar energy, letting him maintain his power levles even when exposed to red sunlight.

Reason for Casting: I admit that I feel bad putting DeHaan in a role like this, since I think nobody deserves to play a little whiner like Prime. Anyway, DeHaan is a really talented actor, and what lead me to cast him as Prime was seeing him in the movie that made him famous, Chronicle. Seeing him psychotic and unhinged at the end of the film convinced me that he could handle the anger and intensity of Prime. And I have to admit, at first, Prime did have decent reasons for his issues. That is, until Countdown turned him into an unbearable, whiny crybaby/manchild. But to get back on track, DeHaan would be great as Prime.

Tony Todd (The Crow, The Final Destination)  as the Anti-Monitor (voice): The enemy of the entire mltiverse and the villain of the first crisis, who was reborn following the rebirth of the multiverse. He makes a deal with Sinestro, and becomes the Sinestro Corps' Guardian of Fear. The Anti-Monitor posses near limitless cosmc powers, including matter and energy manipulation, reality warping, and absorption of entire universes.

Reason for Casting: Todd has this really creepy-as-hell and unsettling prescence to him, as seen in the various horror flicks he has starred in. Along with that, he has a really creepy and deep voice. With these two attributes, he'd make an awesome Anti-Monitor, and wouldn't be wasted in this role (like how he was wasted as the Fallen in Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen).

Luke Goss (Hellboy 2: The Golden ArmyTekken) as Amon Sur: The son of the famous Green Lantern Abin Sur, who felt abandoned by his father, and joins the Sinestro Corps to get revenge on the Green Lantern Corps. Amon can regenerate his limbs and is in possession of a yellow power ring, allowing him to create yellow energy constructs, as well as the abilities of flight and force field protection.

Reason for Casting: This pick was based off of Goss's performance in Hellboy 2. He was great as playing a man obssessed with revenge there, and is no stranger to acting in heavy make-up. He'd do great as Amon.

Kevin Grievoux (Underworld, I, Frankenstein) as Arkillo: The drill seargeant for the Sinestro Corps, who may be considered as Killowog's evil counterpart. Arkillo posses a yellow power ring, along with his natural abilities of superhuman strength and endurance.

Reason for Casting: Grievoux has this really deep  and creepy voice that would fit Arkillo well. If you don't know what I mean, then check Grievoux out in Underworld.

Frank Welker (?Transformers, Scooby Doo) as Ranx, the Sentient City: A sentient city as old as the Stars itself, who is destined to destroy Mogo and end the Green Lantern Corps once and for all. Ranx allies itself with the Sinestro Corps in exchange for letting him get revenge on Guy Gardner. Besides its yellow power ring, Ranx also has the ability to alter its cityscape.

Reason for Casting: I mainly decided to cast Welker as Ranx, since it would be an awesome counterpart to Cullen as Mogo. Plus, Welker is an extremly talented voice actor, and it would be awesome to see his Megatron voice come out of Ranx.

Anyway, please leave your thoughts and comments below. I hope that you've enjoyed this cast. And I'll try to have another cast up in time for Halloween.

- I wouldn't mind Chris Pine as Hal Jordan!
- Looks like I'll have to dig into Dark Blue. Maybe I'll understand Omari Hardwick more.
- I think I have another choice for Guy Gardner while Jensen is one of my many choices for Hal. Then again, he would work!
- Hmm, I was thinking of Stephen Lang or Dennis Haysbert (original Justice League actor). But I'd be down for Worf as Killowog!
- Great pick for the Guardians!
- You may have to risk it all and watch The Vampire Diaries. Especially since your old Harry Osborn choice, Ian Somerholder, is on that show. It's not bad, even though True Blood is miles ahead.
- Again, I praise you for using my choice for Sinestro!
- Henry Cavill may have to portay Cyborg Superman, while Steve Blum would work in animation/video games. Nonetheless, inspired!
- Dane DeHaan deserves a good role to make up for Harry Osborn!
- Great villain roles.

Another home run for MrBlueSky! Keep up the good work!

Michael Dorn as Kilowog is really the only standout outside DeHaan

Interesting cast...
Some feel very off to me but others you hit the nail on the head; my personal favourite has to be John Hurt as Ganthet- that dude just classes up anything he touches.

@SupermanFan Thank you!

@RoadDogXXIV Thanks. Stephen Lang seems like an out-of-the-box choice for Kilowog. And I might check out The Vampire Diaries.

@DoctorAlgenorKrieger Thank you, but I wish you could have gone through a more thorough analysis of this cast.

@SimplyAZ Thank you

@RedNTheHood Thank you

@MrDonut Sorry if this cast isn't up to speck (I personally thought I could do a lot better with it), but I'm glad you like Hurt as Ganthet.

@Pasto Thank you

@DrunkenNukem Thanks, man. Glad you like Todd as the Anti-Monitor

CUMBERBATCH as SINESTRO...PERFECTION...and totally original.

TONY TODD as ANTI-MONITOR...now that's one hell of a choice!

ACKLES is my pick too...a total shoe-in for good ol' GUY.

My favorite...WORF as KILOWOG...now that's a dream-casting.

This is what we probably was gonna get after GL...

Strong as Sinestro was awesome and I want him back, one of the best castings WB has ever done for their DC characters, saying that could see Sherlock playing him too, he's got the chops!

Like I said to RoadDog, if Ackles dyed his hair for the character sure :p Luv a bit of Supernatural!

DDD @ ^5 too man!

Todd as Anti-Monitor is a dream, an awesome one, just wanna see that character on the big screen so much.

Pine cool enough and don't matter if he's been used plenty before, great choice!

Thumbs up!
