First off, this film will take place in the same alternative universe as the 2009
Star Trek film, so I can take some liberties (like Picard having hair). And instead of showing how Picard become the Captain of Enterpirse-D, it'll show the early days of him being the Captain. And at the end of the film, Tasha Yarr will die (and it will leave an impact on the rest of the characters) and Worf is promoted to the Chief of Security.
Anyway, on with the cast:
Heroes:
James McAvoy as Captain Jean-Luc Picard: The recently assigned Captain of the USS Enterprise-D. He is very intellectual and a master of diplomacy and debate. He has a fondness for Detective stories, the works of William Shakespeare, and Earle Gray tea.
Reason for Casting: I have a precognitive feeling that everyone's major complaint about my choice for Picard is that McAvoy already played a younger version of a Patrick Stewart character in
X-Men: First Class. However, I'd like to see McAvoy to channel Picard (like what Karl Urban did with Dr. McCoy in the 2009 film). Plus, McAvoy is a fantastic actor and never gives a weak performance.
Chris Evans as William T. Riker: The First Offcier of the Enterprise (resulting in Picard giving him the nickname of "Number One"). He is something of a ladies' man and is in a relationship with Counselor Deanna Troi.
Reason for Casting: At first, I use to think Evans was a terrible actor (along the lines of Ashton Kutcher and Channing Tatum terrible). However, after seeing him in
Sunshine and
Captain America: The First Avenger, I decided that he's a pretty good actor and would make a wonderful Riker. In this version, Riker will not have a beard, but stubble.
Cillian Murphy as Data: A sentient android who is serves as the second officer and cheif operations officer onboard the Enterprise. He is unable to feel emotion and is inspired to strive for his own humanity.
Reason for Casting: Cillian has this otherworldly look to him, which would be good for the look of Data. Plus, he's a fantastic actor.
Amy Adams as Doctor Beverly Crusher: The chief medical officer on the Enterprise and Picard's love interest.
Reason for Casting: Jenna Fischer has been a fan favorite for the role of Doctor Crusher. But I prefer Adams since she is a flexible actress and gave great performance in
Doubt and
The Fighter.
Morena Baccarin as Counselor Deanna Troi: The ship's half-human, half betazoid counselor who has the psionic ability to sene emotions.
Reason for Casting: I think she's great on
Firefly and
V.
Noel Clarke as Geordi La Forge: The Enterprise's helmsman. He is blind and wears a specially designed visor that creates a visual input for him.
Reason for Casting: Although Clarke annoyed me during the first season of
Doctor Who, I still think he's a good actor (and was surprised to find out that he is also a director and writer). He gave good performances in
Adulthood and
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.
Djimon Hounsou as Worf: The Enterprise's Klingon relief flight control and tactical officer.
Reason for Casting: He gave great performances in
In America and
Blood Diamond.
Yvonne Strahovski as Tasha Yarr: The Enterprise's chief of Security
Reason for Casting:She's pretty good on
Chuck.
Chris Colfer as Wesley Crusher: Dr. Crusger's son who somehow gets onboard the Enterprise. He serves as a nuisance to the rest of the crew (mainly Picard).
Reason for Casting: First off, I'd like to say that Wesley crusher is the biggest Mary Sue character in the history of Mary Sue characters (the second biggest being Bella Swan). However, I think Colfer is a sweet kid and would be pretty good as Wesley, the worst science-fiction character ever made.
This cat as Spot: Data's pet cat who is hostile to everyone on the enterprise except its owner.
Reason for Casting: For the love of God, I am casting a cat. Do I really need to explain this?
Villains:
Michael Emerson as Q: An omnipotent being who lives in the Q Continuum. He has the ability to stop death, create life, travel through time, stop time, create multiple versions of himself, and create entire worlds.
Reason for Casting: If you have seen
Lost, you know that Emerson is a fantastic actor and would be great as Q.
