Fancast:The Girl Who Played with Fire

Fancast:The Girl Who Played with Fire

This is my Fancast for Stieg Larsson's "The Girl Who Played with Fire", based on the Second installment of the Millennium Trilogy.

First off, I know this is not a Comic Book movie, but I made a fancast for the previous installment, and it wouldn't feel right if I did not finish the trilogy. Plus LEEE777 said he was okay with it.

For the Director, I want David Cronenberg to do it. He's a fantastic director and I've chosen him to direct the previous installment. This movie will have a similar feel to his film "Eastern Promises".

Anyway, on with the cast:

Millennium Staff:

Viggo Mortensen as Mikael Blomkvist: An investigative journalist and the publisher of "Millennium" magazine. He goes on a crusade to prove Lisbeth Salander's innocence after she is accused of triple murder.

Reason for Casting: I always imagined him as Blomkvist when I read the books. He is a fantastic actor and has worked with David Cronenberg on three of his films ("A History of Violence", "Eastern Promises", and "A Dangerous Method").

Cate Blanchett as Erika Berger: Editor of "Millenium" and Blomkvist's on-and-off lover.

Reason for Casting: I was really impressed by her performance in "Hanna" and "The Aviator". Plus she is the only person I think who could pull off the role.

Mila Kunis as Malain Eriksson: The managing editor of "Millenium".

Reason for Casting: I imagined Malin to look like her when I read the books. Plus she is a wonderful actor.

Ewan McGregor as Christer Malm: The homosexual art director and designer of "Millenium" magazine.

Reason for Casting: He is a great actor, Plus he has played a homosexual in "I Love You Phillip Morris".

Elijah Wood as Dag Svensson: A freelance journalist who is writing an exposé on the Swedish sex trade for "Millennium". However, he is found shot dead in his apartment along with his fiancée, Mia Johansson. The murder weapon is left at the crime scene with Lisbeth Salander's fingerprints on it, making her a suspect in the murder.

Reason for Casting: He's my only choice for the role.

Natalie Portman as Mia Johansson: A criminology student and Dag's fiancée, who is pregnant with their child.

Reason for Casting: I always wanted Elijah and Natalie to make a film together, so I decided to take this and use it to cast them together.

Lisbeth Salander and the people in her life:

Kristen Stewart as Lisbeth Salander: A bisexual, antisocial private investigator, computer hacker, and recently accused triple murderer.

Reason for Casting: I'll probably spend a majority of the article defending her. Almost everyone on this site judges her acting ability solely on the "Twilight" movies. I have never seen the "Twilight" films (and never will). However, I have seen her in "Adventureland", "Panic Room", "The Runaways", "The Yellow Handkerchief", and "Welcome to the Rileys". From what I have seen in those films, she can be a pretty damn good actress if she is given the right material.

Katie Leung as Miriam "Mimmi" Wu: A kickboxer, university student, and Salander's on and off girlfriend.

Reason for Casting: She's the only person I want in the role.

Thomas Kretschmann as Dragan Armansky: The CEO of Milton Security and Salander's employer.

Reason for Casting: He was impressive in "Valkyrie".

Ian McKellan as Holger Palmgren: Lisbeth's former guardian who was hospitalized after having a stroke, now undergoing physical therapy. Lisbeth had previously thought he had died.

Reason for Casting: The guy is a superb actor.

Vincent Cassel as Nils Bjurman: Salander's current guardian who brutally raped her. She retaliated by tattooing the words "I am a sadistic pig, a pervert, and a rapist" in large letter across his chest. He is later found shot dead in his own apartment with the same weapon used in the murders of Dag Svesson and Mia Johansson.

Reason for Casting: He was pretty damn good in "Black Swan".

Swedish Security Police:

Liev Schreiber as Prosecutor Richard Ekstrom: The prosecutor of the Salnder case who assigns Jan Bulbanski to head the investigation.

Reason for Casting: He was pretty good in "The Painted Veil".

Phillip Glenister as Officer Jan Bublanski: The head investigator of the Salander case. He is often nicknamed "Officer Bubble".

Reason for Casting: Love his work in "Life on Mars".

Rachel Weisz as Sonja Modig: A detective and a part of Bublanski's investigation team.

Reason for Casting: Loved her in "The Constant Gardener".

Colin Firth as Gunnar Bjorck: A corrupt Swedish Security Police officer and Blomkvist's lead on the mysterious man named Zalachenko, a john that Dag was investigating before his murder.

Reason for Casting: He was really impressive in "The King's Speech".

@SuperDude

Thanks man!! It's a pretty damn good trilogy. I was bummed out when I finished them (I want more, but Stieg Larsson is dead). I'll be making a fancast for the final book in the trilogy "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest".

And here's a nice little treat for you. It's the trailer for David Fincher's adaptation of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". It looks much more grittier than the Swedish version:

pretty good cast, but Cassell and Firth don't really strike me as in their 50's. by the way, who do you think can play Alex Zalachenko? how about Derek Jacobi?

@Nimibro

Actually, Firth is 50 years old now. Jacobi seems like a good choice, but I'd prefer Daniel Olbrychski.
