How Batman vs. Superman should be: story and idea

Everyone talks about this movie. But this movie is coming only in 2016, a long time from now. So, with my time machine, I went to 2016, and here is the story of Batman vs. Superman. this is how this movie needs to be...

So the WB has pushed back Batman vs. Superman all the way to 2016. This sucks. The talk in the street is that WB is planning to shoot Superman vs. Batman and Justice League back-to-back. Now of course it’s still just a rumor, but this gave me few ideas for way this could actually be very good.

I will start with a theory for Man of Steel, and explain to story of the movie, and how it will lead to the JL movie.

Cast:

First of all the cast we know will be in the movie.

Henry Cavill – Superman

Ben Affleck – Batman

Gal Gadot - Wonder Woman

The cast from Man of Steel.

And now, the new guys.

Joaquin Phoenix - Lex Luthor

Sullivan Stapleton - John Corben/ Metallo

Josh Holloway - Steve Trevor

Timothy Dalton - Alfred Pennyworth

In Man of Steel there was the “scout spaceship” that was in the Arctic and then it crashed to downtown Metropolis.

Now here is an idea around how this scout ship could lead to what will happen in Batman vs. Superman and the JL movie.

So the scout spaceship crashes in the Arctic long time ago. Few weeks before the events of “Man of Steel”, few LexCorp’s scientists scan the area, and find some strange signs. They find some Kryptonian Tec in the area. But before they can start digging in the area, the military arrives, and the scientists bail, taking the Tec with them.

Lex Luthor is fascinated by alien stuff, and so his scientists start testing the Tec that they have found.

Then, after the events of Man of Steel, Lex becomes paranoid, and he tells the government that they must have a fail-safe against Superman.

Now, I don’t want Batman to work/help the government to take down Superman. Batman doesn’t work for the authorities, he works for no one.

So, in the Batman vs. Superman movie, Batman starts investigating Superman. He doesn’t know if Superman is here to help or if he is a very big threat. In this universe, Batman was dealing with Gothem’s freaks, but he never thought he will face against an alien.

Going back to Lex, who got his hands on more Kryptonian Tec, like the scout spaceship (that crushed in the city), the world engine, Zod’s armor and few other things. Now Lex has been looking for the unexplained for a very long time. He has a whole safe filed with supernatural and alien Tec and artifacts.

Lex then tells his people to start experimenting on the Tec, trying to find a way to use it against Superman.

While many people see Lex Luthor as the savior of Metropolis, since it was rebuilt by LexCorp, there is one parson who doesn’t think Lex is a saint, and that person is Lois.

Lex is running a campaign against the Man of Steel, saying that humanity can’t trust this Superman. Lex blames Superman for what has happened to Metropolis, and also warns the world about more possible invasions.

Lois believes that there is something shady about Lex, and she also doesn’t like him because he says bad things about her boyfriend.

Superman has become very distant, since he has nightmares about the moment he killed Zod. So Superman spends a lot of time in his new Fortress of Solitude.

One of the first few scenes in the movie, we get a terrorist situation in Gotham city.

A group terrorist has stolen a new powerful bomb that was created by LexCorp. This bomb is small as tennis ball, but has a massive power of distraction.

The terrorists are not Muslims, they are citizens of Metropolis, whose homes were destroyed in the battle of Metropolis in “Man of Steel”, and like many other residents of Metropolis, they lost everything, and they blame Superman for all of this. They are demanding that the government will act against Superman, or they blow this bomb in downtown Gotham.

Batman gets there to stop the terrorists, and he takes some of them down, trying to get to the leader who has the bomb.

The terrorist blind side Batman, and start shooting at him, but suddenly Superman appears and all the bullets are blocked by him. Superman stands in front of them, just irritated by the bullets. The terrorists stop with the shooting, and look at each other with shock. One terrorist grabs an RPG and fires on Superman, who goes into super speed, and punches the rocket in mid-air.

The terrorists are about to start shooting again, but Superman punches the ground, creating a shockwave that throws them in the air. Then Superman uses his heat vision to melt their guns.

Batman uses this to get to the leader, and he knocks him out, but it’s too late, the terrorist pushes the red button, and the bomb is about to blow up.

Batman tries to defuse the bomb, but then Superman appears behind him, and pushes him to the side. Superman grabs the bomb, and put his hands around it. The bomb blows up in Superman’s hands, and all is left is a lot of smoke. Everyone thinks Superman is dead, but he just walks out of the smoke, with no scratch.

Batman is shocked by this. Superman looks at Batman, and tells him to stay out of his way. Batman gets pissed, telling him that Gotham is his city. Batman tries to speak with Superman, but Superman isn’t himself. He is still hunted by what happened with Zod, and so he grabs Batman by the throat, and he uses his X-ray vision to look under the mask.

Superman tells Batman to stand down, calling him “Bruce”. Then Superman flies from there.

In his investigations, Batman learns what Superman weakness is, and it’s Kryptonite. In the movie universe Kryptonite will be a little different. The Kryptonite is what left from the world engine. After Superman destroyed the world engine in “Man of Steel”, something happened to it, and the world’s engine pieces are transformed onto green rocks. Kryptonite won’t make Superman powerless, but it will weaken him, making him much more exposed.

Lex Luthor goes to Gotham, and uses the Bat-Signal to get a meeting with Batman. The two have a talk, and Batman doesn’t really trusts Lex.

Lex offers to help Batman to take down Superman, saying that Superman is out of control and at any point he can turn. Lex says that Supeman can very easily enslave humanity, and they won’t be able to do anything about it. And this is why, they need to attack first. Batman tells Lex to piss off.

Bruce Wayne arrives to Metropolis, for a fundraiser, and there is a scene between Bruce and Lex. Clark and Lois arrive there too, and the second Bruce sees Clark he start to connect the dots.

Lex assigns a special team to take down Superman, and the team is led by John Corben.

Batman uses his satellite to track Superman, and he manages to track him down, real time. Batman tries to speak with Superman, but Superman isn’t in a talking mod. Batman tells Superman that if he thinks he is a hero, he needs to act like a hero. Superman pretty much tells Batman to piss off.

While the two talk, John Corben and his team get ready to attack, thinking they will get two birds with one shot. Corben’s team attack, and Superman and Batman strike back. But they keep getting in each other’s way. Superman gets angry and pushes Batman, accidently throwing in the air.

One thing leads to another, and the two icons get into a fight. A big fight. In some point, Batman flies the Batplane, shooting rockets at Superman. Batman soon understands that all his gadgets won’t help against Superman, and so he uses the Kryptonite to get the advantage.

Corben team fires at them, Superman uses his heat vision against the guns, but because of the Kryptonite effect on him, he loses control, and accidently the heat vision hits Corben.

The fight between Superman and Batman ends with no victor.

However, Lex sees the fight on the news, and understands that he has some Kryptonite too in his safe.

Corben gets really hurt, and most of his body is destroyed. Lex uses this to his advantage and uses the alien Tec on Corben, making him into Metallo.

Batman doesn’t like the fact that Lex sent a team to take him out, so he gets into a LexCorp facility. In the same time, Lois does the same, trying to find proof that Lex is shady.

Batman sneaks around and finds out that Lex is being up to some weird stuff. Batman and Lex confront in the labs, but not fight. Lois gets caught by LexCorp security.

Batman gets into a fight with the guards also. Superman is in his Fortress, and he hears that Lois is in trouble, and he flies to save Lois.

Suprman flies throw the roof, throwing everyone around. Superman takes Lois out of there, and Lois tells him on the way that Batman is in there.

Cut to Batman, fighting LexCorp guards, and Batman is kicking their butts. Superman flies throw again, sending the guards flying (again).

Batman tries to speak some sense to Superman, but Superman gets angry and the two get into another fight, this time in a smaller scale. Superman grabs Batman and start to choke him.

Batman tells Superman that he isn’t a killer, and Superman comes to his senses and lets him go.

Lex unleashes Metallo. In my version Metallo is very similar to the comics, but there are some Cyborg elements in there. The metal in his body is an alien metal. At first, we can still see some of human flash in there, so the face is still Corben’s, but there are a lot of “robot” parts there.

Superman and Metallo get into a fight. Superman is shocked that Metallo can hurt him, and the fight is balanced. A lot of throwing down and explosions in this fight.

Metallo eventually uses Kryptonite against Superman, and even shoots some Kryptonite bullets at Superman, who is shocked to find out that these bullets hurt him.

Superman falls on his knees, and then he passes out. Batman pushes a button on his utility belt, and the Batplane arrives for the rescue. Batman throws few exploding Batarangs at Metallo, and no his face looks like the Terminator.

Now a quick thing before I continue. Since I need to include Wonder Woman in the movie somehow, this is the point that Wonder Woman will shine.

Throughout the film, we see Gal Gadot few times, serving as a Wayne Enterprises employee. But Gal is “Diana”.

While the fight at the LexCorp facility is happing, we see Wonder Woman sneaks inside too, and she uses her superpowers to get to Lex’s safe. Inside there she finds an artifact that belongs to Themyscira. This artifact is very important to the Amazons, and it was stolen from them years ago. The Amazons doesn’t want anyone to know about them, and this artifact can lead others to their island.

Wonder Woman then witnesses the fight. At first she doesn’t to get involve, but then she sees that Metallo is about to kill Batman, and she jump for to help. Wonder Woman saves Batman, and throws Metallo away. Wonder Woman gives a look to Batman, who recognizes her as Diana. But then she flies away. I don’t think she really needs to have the Wonder Woman armor here.

Batman pulls Superman out of there, and they fly away.

Lex just stands there, with a smile on his face, and he says: “The God can bleed”.

Batman takes Superman to the batcave, and he gets the bullets out of Superman’s body (with some help from Alfred). However, Superman doesn’t heal very fast, because Batman doesn’t know that Superman needs some sun to heal him.

Later on, Batman meets with Lois, asking her to help him save Superman.

While this happens, there will be a scene between Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, who will be little angry with her, for not telling him what the plan is. We will get a quick recap from their talk on how they have met, and how did they get to this point (maybe even a quick flashback, to show Themyscira and the Amazons).

Steve asks Wonder Woman if she is ready to go back, but Wonder Woman tells Steve she is staying, because people here need her help.

I won’t write every scene in the movie, but eventually Superman gets well and we go to the climax.

Superman fights and defeats Metallo and Batman and Lex have their own fight, and Batman kicks Lex’s ass. Metallo is defeated by some team work between Batman and Superman.

After that, Superman and Lois share a moment, with Superman telling Lois that he can do so many things, but with all of these powers, he is afraid that he can lose his humanity. Superman tells Lois that she is the one thing that makes him remember what it feels like to be a human, and for this he will always love her. A kiss…

There is a scene with Batman and Wonder Woman (both not in their suits). Batman thanks her for helping him, and Wonder Woman says “You mean saving your life”. Batman tries to understand who she is, but Wonder Woman tells him that she isn’t the enemy. Her people have long distance themselves from the world of men, but they can’t ignore what is happing anymore. Wonder Woman says she is an ambassador. She was sent her to protect her people from the outside world. She adds that her mother warned her about men, but she is a warrior, and she will kill any man who will try to hurt those who she loves. Batman smiles, and says that at list they have this in common.

In the end, Superman and Batman share one final scene. Batman tells Superman that there are other super beings out there, some of them can pose a threat. Batman pulls out few pictures: one of them is Wonder Woman, in another picture shows a green flash in the sky. Superman says that they can face any theft, if they do some team work. Superman and Batman shake hands, and we get a great World's Finest movie ending.

Superman won't be breaking necks anytime soon. And Batman helped Superman to become a superhero. In the same time, Superman helped Batman to understand that the world just got bigger and much more dangerous, but even super-humans can be a good thing to the world.

But the movie doesn’t end with a happy note. We find out that while Lex has been playing with the Kryptonian Tec, he activated a secret beacon. That beacon transmits through the stars, and we end the movie in a very big ship, just flouting in space. We enter the ship, and then there is darkness. Suddenly three red lights turn on, and an alien with a green face opens his eyes. Brainiac is coming. (And he will be played by Cillian Murphy)

It's kind of jumbled and messy, but some parts would work well I think. Keep it up :)

Thanks Interestein . Like I said, this is only a blueprint to what this movie could be.

I liked a lot of these ideas. I also think that even though Batman isn't working with the government or Lex Luthor, he still gains access to some Kryptonian tech. I also think it would be cool or Batman to fight Superman in a Dark Knight Returns Power Armor type of suit (possibly made from Kryptonian armor) and then have the scene where Batman whoops Lex Luthor's ass be a power suit vs power suit battle and Batman defeats him using his superior fighting skills.

But all in all this would be an epic movie and set up for the future of the DC Cinematic Universe

I haven't read all of it but I like it so far with a few suggestions:

-The terrorists in Metropolis with the tennis sized explosive... why not make them Intergang? Tie it into Apokolips and the wider storyline?

-Superman being a straight off dick to Batman and grabbing his throat is something I am not too fond of.

-Although I like the idea of the World Engine tying into Kryptonite, wouldn't it make more sense is the small sections of Earth (in the Indian Ocean and Metropolis) that the World Engine and Black Zero did terraform (into Krypton-like soil/ground) were Kryptonite instead, as a side effect of a damaged/flawed World Engine? That means Luthor can literally have Krypton is abundance (like coral under the ocean)

Still I do like what I've read so far. Keep it up!

@MartianAbominationClone
Shit MartianAbominationClone you got me with the Kryptonite idea. Never thought about it, great idea.

as far as Superman chocking Batman, I wanted to show that Superman is struggling with his human side. After all after you kill one man, it's easier to keep doing it. And so Superman needs to learn (with some help from Batman) to be more human and how to be a superhero, and not to kill.

Klone - 1/24/2014, 10:48 AM
Okay, I do like it. I do have a few issues with it in regards to WW, Superman's character, Batman teaching Superman to be a hero, and several things like that but I overall think it is decent. Would make for a pretty cool film.
Klone
Klone - 1/24/2014, 10:48 AM
Also, shouldn't Superman be showing heavy guilt and stress over what he did Corben? He wasn't exactly evil.

@dc

I can understand Superman fearing the notion of losing himself and being corrupted by his powers, but Superman being taught and having to learn humanity is a bit off to me. I still like your overall story/ideas.

I agree with MAC, if anything killing Zod should be the thing that makes him take the no killing rule, and besides Clark didn't seem too depressed and sulky at the end of MOS, it was also confirmed by Zack Snyder that he helps rebuild. If anything it should be Clark who helps Bruce rediscover his humanity. The Superman that you have written is literally everything Lex Luthor has been warning about
OptionFour
OptionFour - 1/24/2014, 12:26 PM
Overall, I like it.

But I do agree with MAC. There was such a huge uproar about Man of Steel, and how violent Superman was in it. I think the last thing we need is a Superman whose first reaction to other people is to choke a bitch, or to pry into their most personal secrets (Batman's identity).
Killing Zod, and the public/media backlash from the destruction in Metropolis should be what taught Superman his lesson; when you have as much power as he does, no matter how impossible the situation, you -have- to find another way.

As it is, if Superman is portrayed in the light demonstrated here, I think I'd be on Lex Luthor's side in this film!

I like how Batman and Superman build off of each other. It's a pretty cool idea having them teach each other what they're supposed to be. Also, big fan of the lack of a Batman origin story. I don't think you mentioned his past once, which is great, we don't need that. You worked Wonder Woman into it pretty well, my only question is where is she during the final battle? You can have a buildup scene before the climax where everyone reflects and suits up and bam there's our first look at her armor.

@BlueLanternKnight
Thank BlueLanternKnight .
About your question. No Wonder Woman isn't in the climax. I'm saving that for my Justice League movie (which I'm writing as we speak). This is a Superman and Batman movie, and I don't want to do all "Iron Man 2" here (Black Widow). Don't worry, Wonder Woman will kick some ass in my JL movie. It's coming in the next few days.

it should be superman who hunts batman in the movie
since superman said himself he is here to help but on my terms
batman is a vigilante/mature/cops know bout it etc...so maybe they ask superman to just go check him out/stop them
thats what i wud do batman shudnt work for gov't or anything of that nature i agree with u on that..

I like the overall story, but I doubt Batkan would tell Clark that he's not a killer. Bruce has no idea of that. If anything, he thinks that Superman is a killer. I think while Superman was choking Batman, he should have had flashbacks of Zod and him breaking his neck. Then he should have let go of Batman.

All I'm gonna say is that a JLA movie would be too early to come right after this. They need to at least do something similar to Marvel and build a few other characters first. Honestly Man of Steel 2 already sounds bad. I really don't want it anymore. Your theory/idea is really good and you made these characters fit way better than DC will probably do.
