Welcome to the next round of the Marvel/DC champions battle poll, last Sunday's results will now be revealed and the victors will take on a new challenger.

Last Sunday's battles:
Captain America beat Ozymandias 26-5, personally I agreed with the outcome but I thought it would've been a lot closer...oh well, this week I've matched him up with someone who is his equal in almost every way. Let's see how the vote turns out.

Thing beat Steel 22-4, Thing took this battle most of us agreed. Hopefully this next challenger will give him a run for his money...

Green Lantern (Jordan) narrowly defeated Nova 15-13, this was a very close match it could've gone either way. I couldn't even vote myself, anyways I've given Hal another powerful opponent to see if he has what it takes to bring her down.

As always vote objectively, put favoritism aside and vote for the one you really think would win.

Captain America vs Bane

The Thing vs Swamp Thing

Ms. Marvel vs Green Lantern (Jordan)

Captain America vs Bane -- Captain America. Bane might be a handful for Batman, but with Cap he's not going to know what hit him. Cap's defeated far more powerful opponents than Bane. I call Cap by knock-out.

Swamp Thing vs Thing -- same as Swamp Thing vs Hulk. ST can't do much to hurt Thing, and Thing can splat ST 'til he's blue in the face and never permanently put him down. Draw.

Ms. Marvel vs Green Lantern -- this fight would only last as long as MM let it. Her ability to absorb, negate and transmute energy makes her a major bane to someone like GL, whose powers are all energy based. She's not as skilled as Silver Surfer at energy absorption/transmutation/negation and she can be overloaded if she's not careful, but she'd need only sap enough to weaken GL's ring-attacks, and GL is nowhere near tough enough physically to take her on, so...MM by power-drain followed by clean knock-out.

Heh. I can hear a certain other poster bitching already...

CAPTAIN AMERICA vs BANE: Captain America wins!
Bane hasnt really shown any extraordinary feats of fighting since his debut.

SWAMP THING vs THING: Draw!
I dont how either guys can gain the upperhand against the other.

MS. MARVEL vs GREEN LANTERN: Ms. Marvel wins!
Green Lantern would obviously have trouble against an energy absorber.

Captain America vs Bane

Steroids vs steroids well hands down Bane is using the stronger steroid but Cap should be faster. Then again Cap never really went up against an opponent like Bane both cunning and strong usaully they're one or the other. This could go either way. After all Cap is just Batman on steroids and Bane broke the Bat before, but Bane despite his greater strength level isn't completely out of Cap's league.

Swampthing vs Thing

Swampthing wins.It will take awhile but Swampthing will eventually KO Ben.

Ms.Marvel vs Green Lantern

Ms.Marvel wins, even if she absorb the ring's energy it would only effect the operational time of the ring not the constructs strength seeing as construct strength is effected by the user willpower.Anywho this comes down to power level.Hal can defeat her but as the battle drags on it goes more in Carol's favor.

Cap isn't just Batman on steroids that's ridiculous,he's a much more efficient fighter his level of skill is beyond Batman's, and he's got loads more combat experience than the entire Batman family combined...

Are you for real unknown? The captain has gone up against dozens like Bane. He eats fanatics like this up for breakfast without breaking a sweat. Honestly, that must be an extremely small universe you get your information from… Like half a mind's worth. Or maybe from super friends repeats

I will only comment on Bane VS Cap.
Cap Wins.
Bane had to weaken Batman, by forcing him to over work, to beat him. If Cap. or Batman meet Bane at arena A. Then there is a understanding they they will trade blows. Bane loses that fight.

Also after being the master of 10 (+) different Martial Arts does it matter how skilled these guys are? It comes down to Challenges met and over come, with over all fitness and state of mind.

@fenix yea cap is just a roided out batman and he may be better than batman in raw physicality but u cant tell me that u think cap beats batman in skill
LoudLon
LoudLon - 2/17/2013, 8:05 PM
^^^ I can tell you that Cap beats Batman in skill. :)

Batman is completely human. Cap is enhanced physically and mentally; he's the ultimate human specimen, has an eidetic memory and his thought processes also operate at peak human efficiency, enabling him to plan fights dozens of moves ahead and manipulate an opponent into leaving themselves open for attack. His memory and thought processes also allow him to to instantly memorize an opponent's fighting style and recall it perfectly later, which in turn enables him to predict their next move before they even make it.

Batman's highly skilled, but being completely unenhanced, he will never be as fast, strong, agile or strategically & tactically capable as Cap is.

Check mate.

@ loud, well it looks as if you, fenix, quad and myself will have to agree to disagree; i am of the opinion that batman wins at least 5/10 in a fight with captain america, if prep is involved bats wins 7/10
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 2/17/2013, 10:04 PM
@unknownfacts
I put them both at enhanced strength, because currently Bane is off of Venom. And can lift around 1200 lbs same as Cap...
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 2/17/2013, 10:08 PM
@unknown
And also because Bane is normally only at the same level as Cap or Deathstroke...only when he uses Venom is he super strong...
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 2/17/2013, 10:11 PM
@relentless
Yes, I can say that Cap would beat Batman in pure skill. Cap has gone head to head with and even defeated people who's skill are roughly equal to Batman...Daredevil is a fine example...And Cap can take out entire armies of well trained and well armed soldier by himself, while Batman usually struggles against 6 or 7 thugs.
GuardianDevil
GuardianDevil - 2/17/2013, 10:27 PM
And Cap's tactical mind is far beyond Batman's...Cap is just like Deathstroke his mind works at a superhuman level, he can instantly come up with 100 different strategies to take out his enemies...not even Batman's mind can reach that level (unless by some magic, batman is superhuman?) And due to his superhuman mind he is capable of mastering fighting styles far faster than any human possibly could, his photographic memory also helps with that. He's had more fighting experience than Batman and only a few people have more exp than Cap..,Fury and Thor are two off the top of my head. But still those guys aren't as good as him in skill because he can master a fighting style relatively quickly, whereas with a human like Batman it'd take a year or two to master what takes little time for Cap...
relentless1
relentless1 - 2/18/2013, 12:23 AM
and by your logic, if bane is on the same level as cap and death stroke, and batman has beaten bane one on one abc logic is that batman can beat the captain
relentless1
relentless1 - 2/18/2013, 12:32 AM
and i know you like to ignore crossovers but jla/avengers, cap and bats squared off had a little skirmish and batman said that its conceiveable that cap could beat him. insinuating that bats has skill on par with cap, probably could finish the fight early on but the longer it went it would favour cap because of the enhanced body from the steroids, which is a very accurate description of a possible fight between the two of them i think, regardless if you buy into crossovers or not
LoudLon
LoudLon - 2/18/2013, 1:16 AM
@relentless -- no offense, but the "Batman wins with prep" thing is a poor argument, because it rests precariously on the fractured logic that his opponent isn't going to take that same time to prep, as well. What, Batman is the only character in comic books to come up with a fight plan before going into action? And with Cap's peak thought processes and ability to formulate numerous strategies in the blink of an eye, he's a whoooooooooooooole lot better at prep than Bats could ever be.

I am a Batman fan. But the plain truth is that Batman is completely human, and is not enhanced in any way. Cap, however, IS enhanced to the peak of human ability. As such, Batman will never be as strong, fast or agile as Cap, his reaction time will never be as great, his reflexes and reaction time will never be as acute, and his unenhanced mind will never be as strategically and tactically proficient as Cap's. Batman is inferior to Cap in every conceivable way, short of maybe business acumen, but since when did Cap ever care about making money?

Batman's cool and all, but c'mon. He'd lose this fight ten times out of ten.

Love how people point out how Captain America has gone up against Batman like opponents yet fail to mention the same can be said about Batman.Bats gone up against Deathstroke who brain power is near super computer level and body is enhance, they have both beaten each other so the superior in every way bit, that he's a human crap...yeah not buying it.Please stop stating your opinions as a fact.

Moral of the story, try to take all the fighters abilities into account when stating your opinions, becuase this whole whom ever possesses more strength bit is getting old people.

I think you guys that are harping on the "steroid" thing should show a little more respect for the character. He's not on steroids. The serum that altered CA was a one time thing.

Let's get real for a minute. If someone actually was trying to be Batman, you think he would be steroid free? One of the main points about taking PED's is how it allows your body to bounce back quicker than normal. It's not so much strength gain as it is the recuperative time that is reduced. A normal taking a beating day in and day out what almost have to rely on PED's otherwise he would be worn down, or force to take time off.

Like I said, why don't you read up on the character instead of hating on him. If you enjoy Batman you probably would like Capt. America just as much. By being childish and only liking one brand you are only hurting yourself and denying yourself the enjoyment.

You guys take a Batman to the heart and personal. Most of us regulars have stated how much we enjoy Batman ourselves, but you allow your admiration to affect the logical outcome of these fights. Something that is cautioned against from the start and is not the point here. Now if you want to have it popularity contest, that's fine, but call it that and people will vote appropriately. All you're doing in this forum is ruining it for those of us who do care. That's childish and selfish. Your disrespect demeans the whole website.

Does Captain America get to be listed as Human Hero or Super Human. If he is listed as Human then a compete ass whooping on Batman is ridiculous. If he is Super Human then sure, I can see victories attributed more often then not.

Captain hits a weird zone where he is the strongest possible person or the weakest possible super. Choose one or the other and let it be settled.

If we are going to be real, nether Batman or Captain nor any other person can bench more then 400 lbs with out looking like a brick. They would have to have muscles modified that are natural stronger then regular humans. Look at Body Builders build like they can take up a whole king size bed.

Also, if you are genius at all things a person can be cable of you are not human any more. Batman, Captain, Green Arrow etc...
LoudLon
LoudLon - 2/18/2013, 9:57 AM
Cap isn't superhuman. He's ultimate human, meaning that he is, among other things, as strong, fast and agile as a human being can be without being considered superhuman. Plainly put, anything any human character can do, Cap can do better. He's one of the few characters in comics considered to be the perfect human physical specimen.

Batman is completely human, unenhanced. He's as strong, fast and agile as a man of his age, height, weight and build can be. There are literally hundreds of comics characters who can say the same. He's in peak conditioning as it pertains to his own body; Cap is the peak of conditioning of the entire human race. If he were a decimal point faster, stronger or more agile, of if his thought processes and synaptic responses were a blink quicker, he'd be superhuman.

Which means -- once again -- that Batman is his inferior in every way. I don't see what's so hard to understand about this that it must be explained seemingly every other day here.

Look I don't care who beats who especailly when it comes to Captain America vs Batman if you ask me I'd say it's 50/50 Bats has gadgets that could possibly take down Cap while Cap's agility and speed could give him the advantage over Bats.I know I sound like a DC fanboy but that's just because these poster seems to know nothing about DC.

Between that and people costantly saying this this was poorly writen comic book plot. Then tell of an impossible feat of another character just as impossible and they'll say well it from the comics.Sorry but if it's from the comics you can't pick and choose what counts it's there in print it counts.

Now on to the steroid aka the super soldier serum.Yes it's a steroid it transformed a frail man into a peak/sub super human. He gain muscle mass that would take normal people months or even a year to biuld in a matter of seconds. He willingly took the serum albeit for entirely good reasons, but a serum is still a drug. That is why the writers had to go back and change it to the serum, vita rays, and healthy living when steroids use became a major concern to the public.

Anyway I'm done arguing this useless point.I see how most of these contender can beat the other but most only see the brand name on these characters.I truly hope one day you guys wake up and realize how pointless a debate is if all you do is shoot down idea's before truly exploring the possiblities until then I have nothing more to say on the matter peace.

SpideyQuad - 2/18/2013, 11:27 AM
You need to look up the definition of a steroid, like most subjects you are generalizing it. That's what gets you into trouble.

Ravenpilot, just to set the record straight. Bodybuilders are Large solely because they work at "ripping" the muscle. As the muscle fiber heals it becomes scar tissue, which is naturally larger than normal tissue. That's why they "bulk out". If you look at pure strength a.k.a. heavy weight lifters or worlds strongest humans, you find most of those guys are large without definition. One thing "bulking out" does is cost a person flexibility. As an example I knew a very good baseball player that got in the bodybuilding. After a few years he could only throw the ball like a girl (in fairness I should say like someone that never through before).
Bodybuilders are able to achieve this by lifting large amounts of weight a minimal amount of distance. They focus on working solely the middle of the muscle. a person looking for strength would work the entire muscle (the full range of motion) with less weight and more repetitions.

Mental and Physical efficiency, Moral Compass, and Trust= Captain America
Polygraphic Genius, Intimidation, Will Power, Resources= Batman
Tacticians, Fighting Training, Respect, Resourcefulness= Tie

Guys Ive always seen Batman vs Captian America as a Tie because Batman has defeated enemies better than Cap in individual stats and all around. The same can be said for Cap beating Batman so it really comes down to who is writing and why its happening.

@Hush -- you give the edge to Bats when it comes to intimidation and will power. But...

Cap's a soldier. He doesn't get intimidated. I know this very well; it's one of the primary things they hammer into your head in basic training. Fear = death, so you're trained to be fearless. I'm former infantry and a combat vet; I know this for a fact. Besides, Cap has gone mano-a-mano against The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Dr. Doom, Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet. A dude in a cape armed with a boomerang and a grabbling gun isn't going to scare him any more than Woody Allen armed with a feather duster and a bottle of Lysol.

And once again, it's being ignored that Cap's brain processes information far more efficiently and enables him to plan and strategize multiple scenarios at the drop of a hat. Bats needs time to do these things; Cap does them without trying in the blink of an eye.

But anyway, yeah, even I'm tired of always having this conversation any time the question of Batman vs Captain America comes up. A fan can rationalize it a hundred different ways for Batman to win, but in doing so they're ignoring what makes Batman Batman in the first place -- that he is human, that he is imperfect, that he is flawed, that he is fallible. Why is it so easy to believe that Bane -- a mid-level villain at best -- could completely destroy Batman, but Cap, who is also Bane's superior, couldn't?

The simple fact is that be it physically, as a fighter, tactically/strategically or in regards to willpower and fighting spirit, Cap is the clear superior in every way that matters when it comes to a fight. Ignoring that doesn't make it untrue.

But, I'm done with this conversation. Nobody's going to change anyone else's mind, so I'll just have to force myself to rest comfortably knowing I'm actually right. :D

LoudLon - 2/18/2013, 2:28 PM
Crap, forgot, Cap's indomitable will also grants him high resistence to all but the most powerful of telepaths, as has been shown routinely over the years.

Not that Bat-devotees wanted or needed another reason Bats is inferior...
