Nightwing vs Winter Soldier

Even match up this could go either way,I go with Nightwing his agility might give him the edge.

Giantman vs Aquaman

On land Hank in the sea Auther.

Hulk vs Lobo

Since Lobo going up against Hulk I'll go with the version of Lobo who can take on Superman.It will be an epic battle but Hulk will pull off the hard earned victory.

Winter Soldier vs Nightwing -- Winter Soldier, for one reason: automatic weapons.

Giant-Man vs Aquaman -- Gotta disagree with some of these strength levels (no offense intended, Fenix). Giant Man may be able to press roughly fifty tons at 100 feet tall, but he rarely goes that big because it ends up taking most of that strength just to support his own bodyweight. He usually cruises at around 50-60 feet tall, where he's in the 30 ton range. And Arthur's lifting cruise ships in New 52, but up 'til then I can't recall him ever showing anywhere near that kind of strength before. It's always been stated he has the strength of 150 men, which would put him around the 15-ton range (assuming the average man can press 200 lbs, which itsels is a generous estimate, then 150 men x 200 lbs apiece ÷ 2,000 lbs in a ton = 15 tons ). At any rate, even at those lesser strength levels, I'd still give this one to Aquaman. Giant Man's only real advantage in giant form is his reach; Arthur's still going to be much faster than him, and more durable.

Hulk vs Lobo -- Hulk, all day long. Lobo will wish he didn't have a healing factor, because that just means Hulk will be able to enjoy pounding the snot out of him that much longer.

Winter Soldier vs Nightwing- Nightwing
Giant-Man vs Aquaman- Aquaman
Hulk vs Lobo- I refuse to vote on this one because Hulk would easily win, and I hate Hulk. He really shouldn't even be included in these fights, because the only person who MIGHT have a chance at beating him is Superman. Hes kinda a buzzkill in these fights.

Winter Soldier and Night wing equal flipping a coin. It would be fun to watch that fight take place.

With the size and height advantage I could see Giant man pitching Aqua man away. Not saying it would be a defeat but in an open air environment Aqua Man would be ring outed in a second.

Lobo would only make Hulk rage even more. Id like to see someone fight Hulk that could talk him down instead of trading punches.

@relentless

Agreed.The 'angrier Hulk gets the stronger he gets'is pretty lame.
But its easily trumped by the mega lame 'because Superman was born on Krypton and he now exists near a yellow sun he's one of the most powerful beings in the universe'. Now that's just retarded.

@FOOM: Thor does not even have to be next to a yellow sun. He's just Asgradian alien. Isn't that even more - in your words - retared?

^^^ Heh. This is my biggest problem with Superman. Love the character, he's the grand-daddy of all superheroes, but how can an alien -- who aside from his ability to absorb sunlight for strength is otherwise not much different from a human -- be as powerful as a demi-god or a gamma-radiated rage monster?

Originally he was strong because he was born with a body built to withstand the higher gravity of Krypton, which makes him stronger on earth because of its lesser gravity. But from just a strength standpoint, that would mean Kyrpton must have had a gravity a million times stronger than Earth's. Which means every Kryptonian would be built short and thick like Puck from Alpha Flight LOL

It was only in the course of 75 years of ever-escalating storylines and writers tinkering with the character that he's now reached the point where creators have him pressing 200 quintillion tons with one arm (I laughed so very hard the first time I saw that). DC has a lot of characters that I love, but this is why if forced to pick, I choose Marvel; they may have some horrible writing these days but for the most part, with a few exceptions, they don't tend to do a whole lot of tinkering with their characters' power sets. There have always been increases to keep up with the times but you don't see Hulk suddenly developing the ability to fly (like Superman, who originally could only leap really far) or Spider-Man suddenly developing heat vision.

Anyway, point is, I agree with Foom. Supes may historically be the #1 superhero, but the reasoning behind his powers and their constant escalation is beyond ridiculous.

I don't think Superman or Hulk is lame at all, they've both had their inconsistencies but don't blame the character, blame the writers...and blame the fanboys for influencing the writers. I understand your point that Marvel is much more consistent then DC, but how about characters like Worldbreaker Hulk and King Thor, both of which are amped up versions of he original. Can that be considered an inconsistency?

Anyways, I agree and disagree. Yes, Marvel is more consistent...you don't suddenly see Daredevil taking down the whole Avengers, or Thor can't lift a car one day and the next he can stalemate Hulk...things like that don't generally happen in Marvel, but they have had their share of inconsistencies, like original Wolverine took a long time to heal. Now, he heals Instantly. I still like the character both ways, but I blame the writers. Both are guilty of that, Marvel not as much but still.

@LoudLon

And as ridiculous as the reasoning behind Superman's power may it never did stopped me from liking the character or loving Donner's Superman: The Movie which as I've said before is THE most important CBM ever made. And I'll never forget the sound of my jaw dropping in the theater back in 78 when I saw him leaving the Fortress of Solitude for the first time. I really believed a man could fly. Hoping MOS might do the same.

You guys know comic books and there character where never meant to be taken seriously right.That is kind of why it's called fiction cause it can never happen.
They came up with these lame gimmicks to explain away why they lost in one issue then won 10 issue down the line.

Foom -- The whole "reverse time by flying backwards around the planet" thing notwithstanding, I think Donner's Superman: The Movie has the most accurate live-action representation of Supes' to date. It puts him roughly right around engraged-Hulk level in strength, but far from bench-pressing-a-planet level. I was only 7 when that flick came out but I loved it then, and still love it now.

And I do still dig Supes. He's not my favorite comics character but I appreciate and respect his place in comics history, and his place in the DC universe. I just really wish the writers would get on the same page with the guy, pick one version and stick with it, because the more they amp him up, the more of a joke he becomes, IMO.
