I finally did it!
I decided to cast a (semi) full X-Men reboot. I don't have every single character, but you may find the ones I got acceptable.
Let's get the show on the road!
Professor Charles Xavier: Either Patrick Stewart or as an alternative, Mark Strong.
Scott Summers/Cyclops: Jared Padalecki
Jean Grey/Pheonix: Gemma Arterton. I decided to take a little risk. Casting Jean's a lot harder than it looks.
James Howlett/Logan/Wolverine: Christian Kane. Seems to be quite a favorite for some here, and after seeing him act, I'm pretty convinced he'd rock Wolverine.
Anna Raven/Rogue: Olivia Wilde
Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat: Lucy Hale. She's a young up-and-comer and totally looks like Kitty too.
Piotr Rasputin/Colossus: James Lafferty
Warren Worthington III/Angel: Alex Pettyfer
Hank McCoy/Beast: Jon Hamm
Bobby Drake/Iceman: Chace Crawford
Alison Blair/Dazzler: Ashley Tisdale. Before you start giving me crap for this choice, listen to me on this. Ashley is both a singer and an actress, and can play this kind of part well. And she could use a superhero part to distance herself from the stuck-up "Queen-Bee" image she played before. In a weird way, she kinda grew on me.
Ororo Munroe/Storm: Naomie Harris
Emma Frost: Tricia Helfer. Emma needs an actress that's not too young or old, and can play seductive, harsh, ruthless and oddly likeable at the same time. Just watch Tricia on
Battlestar Galactica as Number Six and you'll see my point.
Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler: Cillian Murphy. Before you start going off on him being "too creepy" for this role, I will first direct you to Cillian's other movies, namely
The Wind That Shakes the Barley,
Intermission,
Sunshine, and
The Edge of Love, where he was the farthest thing from a villain in those. And besides, I would think Nightcrawler can benefit from a great character actor that can portray dark and charming at the same time. As for the whole "But he already played Scarecrow!" argument, Ryan Reynolds is playing both Deadpool and Green Lantern; what's to stop Cillian from doing the same? And besides, Cillian's not playing anymore villains and I'd love to see him expand his wings in a more heroic role.
Jubilation Lee/Jubilee: Kelly Vitz. Youthful, actually is Asian, and already has some superhero experience (in the movie
Sky High). I think she’d be perfect!
Remy LeBeau: Taylor Kitsch. Okay, I'll admit to keeping him around, because I really liked his small but great performance in
Wolverine. A little more screentime ought to be just what he needs to really show what he can do with this role.
Elisabeth Braddock/Psylocke: Lena Headey.
Josh Foley/Elixir: Jackson Rathbone. JSYK, I will not tolerate bashing of actors from the
Twilight movies. Many of them actually are good actors; it's not their faults they're stuck acting with a mediocre at best script. Anyway, Elixir needs a fairly youthful and "cute" kind of actor, and Jackson can totally do both.
Sean Cassidy/Banshee: Sean Bean. Fan favorite, 'nuff said.
Lorna Dane/Polaris: Katie Cassidy. I'm open to other suggestions though.
Jamie Madrox/Multiple Man: Brian Austin Green
Alex Summers/Havok: Garrett Hedlund
Sam Gunthrie/Cannonball: Travis Van Winkle.
James Proudstar/Warpath: Alex Meraz. Another actor from the Twilight saga? Maybe, but Meraz actually is Native American (as Warpath should be), but also has the build for it too.
Max Eisenhardt/Magneto: Clive Owen
Raven Darkholme/Mystique: Christina Hendricks
Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch: Eva Green
Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver: Paul Wesley
Yuriko Oyama/Lady Deathstrike: Keiko Kitagawa
St. John Allerdyce/Pyro: Ryan Kwanten. He's actually Australian and can definitely play a hotheaded jerk.
Victor Creed/Sabretooth: Liev Schrieber. One of the few things that made
Wolverine watchable. I hope they'll bring him back because he was fun to watch.
Mortimer Toynbee/Toad: Patrick Fugit
Nathaniel Essex/Mr. Sinister: James Caviezel. I wanted to try out something left field. So I went to James Caviezel, a great actor who could really do well with a role like this. And he seems the right age for it too.
En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse: Michael Clarke Duncan. I can't think of anyone else with that same kind of intimidating build, and he can act too.
Michael Biehn
Neena Thurman: Katee Sackhoff
Wade Wilson/Deadpool: Ryan Reynolds
Moira MacTaggert: Amanda Peet. I saw this pick on another fan cast here (I forgot whose it was though), and I liked it so much, I had to use it.
Bolivar Trask: Benjamin Bratt
Steven Lang: Matthew Settle
Rev. William Stryker: Eric Roberts
And it's done! Again, I know I didn't get every single character, but I did get as many as I could. Hope you found it satisfactory! ;)
