It was recently posted on CBM, that Fox's No. 1 choice to be the voice of their fully CGI version of The Thing in the Fantastic Four reboot is none other than Bruce Willis.
After stewing the idea around for a day and listening to Willis' voice in several YouTube clips, I must say this would be a great pick to be the voice.
BUT (emphasized on purpose), how does that effect whomever will be playing Ben Grimm as a human and prior to him changing into The Thing?
Would there be a discrepancy is the sounding of the voice by using two different actors?
Obviously, one could say that the transformation into The Thing could have distorted Grimm's voice box a bit and therefore his voice sounds different as The Thing.
Or maybe this is a clue as to who Fox wants to play the human version of the character and Willis could actually be in the movie for a short period of time before he changes into The Thing.
Willis as Ben Grimm is kind of exciting if you ask me, but does that mean that Grimm will be more of a "burnout" since that is the role that Willis has been stereotyped with during most of his career.
Regardless, I would have to say that Willis' gritty, I've smoked too many cigarettes sounding voice does seem like a great fit for The Thing and hopefully he will also be considered for playing human Grimm since I think he could play both very well for the franchise reboot.
