NOVA'S FUNHOUSE: Checkers
Vision and Machine Man take a break from super-heroing and play a hearty game of checkers. They quickly come to an odd topic of discussion and Vision isn't all too happy with it. Hit the jump to check it out.
VISION and MACHINE MAN sit at opposite ends of a square table which is predominated by a checkers board. VISION ponders his next move. He moves a piece and takes one of MACHINE MAN's pieces. MACHINE MAN throws his arms up in suprise.
MACHINE MAN
I did not see that coming.
VISION
Odd, considering you're a machine with a high power calculator in your brain that should have easily predicted such a move. Perhaps you should have yourself maintenanced.
MACHINE MAN
Maybe in a few weeks. Anyway...
He looks down at the board and takes two of VISION's pieces, reaching the back line.
MACHINE MAN
King me.
VISION kings the piece and continues to look down at the board.
MACHINE MAN
Did it ever occur to you that we are somewhat related?
VISION
I am an android, Aaron, I cannot be related to anything.
MACHINE MAN
Well, Ultron is something of a father to you, he created you. He was created by Hank Pym. So Ultron's your father and Pym is your grandfather.
VISION
I am not seeing how this links me to you, Aaron.
MACHINE MAN
Ultron based my wife's brain patterns off of the Wasp's, so there's one link, you share grandparents. Ultron created her making her your sister. You were based off of Wonder Man and the Human Torch, no real link there. Jocasta was in the West Coast Avengers with you and Wonder Man. I married Jocasta, making you my brother-in-law.
VISION
I think Wonder Man and Human Torch have something of a more substantial role than team affiliations.
MACHINE MAN
Good point...
He ponders for a moment before snapping his fingers and pointing at Vision's face.
MACHINE MAN
They were the gay couple who adpoted you!
VISION stares blankly at MACHINE MAN. He gets up from the table and starts to walk away.
MACHINE MAN
What about the game?
VISION
You really should get maintenacned if you didn't spot me winning during your little story.
MACHINE MAN looks down at the board. All of Vision's pieces are kinged and none of his are left on the table.
MACHINE MAN
And that's why we didn't invite you to the wedding.
