One of the highlights of my childhood was watching Power Rangers every saturday morning. Now I know this isn't necessarily a comic book movie, but I just loved the show so much, I thought this would be fun for anyone. Now that Michael Bay's run as director of Transformers is done, maybe it's time for him to bring back another classic childhood tv show, Power Rangers. I've decided to put a more serious tone to this movie, so I took out the stupid Bulk and Skull, and even Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. Without further or due, here's my fan cast for a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie:
Liam Hemsworth as the Red Ranger/Jason
We've already seen Liam's brother Chris dominate the role of Thor, now it's Liam's turn to take the spotlight. Big and strong like his brother, Liam has the perfect look and attitude to play the leader, Jason. He'd be perfect for the role, and I feel he's the only option to lead a Power Rangers franchise to success.
Anton Yelchin as the Blue Ranger/Billy
An instant choice to play Billy, the smart and hesitant ranger, Yelchin brings a fighting look, with a great set of action skills. He can be perfect to sit along side the rest of the rangers as they defend the earth. Definitely a good actor, with a similar look to the original, Anton Yelchin is the perfect choice.
Donald Glover as the Black Ranger/Zack
Come on? When you know Marvel is considering making Spiderman african american, all for this one actor, you know he's one of a kind. Although they did wind up going with Garfield, Glover is an up and coming actor whose look and personality fit identically with Zack. This is probably my best pick outside of Jason, no doubt.
Zoe Kravitz as the Yellow Ranger/Aisha
At first I was considering using Trini, but then I thought about the possible romance between Zack and Aisha, that made me think about the two perfect choices. Daughter of famous rocker Lenny Kravitz, we saw Zoe shine in X-Men: First Class. A perfect fit for a ranger, but not quite identical to the orignal actor, Zoe can really make Aisha a memorable character.
Mekenna Melvin as the Pink Ranger/Kimberley
It's pretty much set in stone, no one can ever replace the original Kimberley. But Mekenna brings the personality match with Tommy, and she's smokin' hot. As an actress, she's a great actress who can easily adapt to the role of the unique, quirky Kimberley, who on the side can kick ass.
Cam Gigadent as the White Ranger/Tommy
An already proven actor, Gigadent is ripped, has a good ego, and has shown he can kick ass. A perfect fit with Mekenna Melvin, the chemistry can easily be there. Gigadent is a hard working actor, who can show leadership, and the perfect fit to overcome all the negatives he may put. He may not look exactly like the original Tommy, but he has the look to be a newer, upgraded one that will help lead the rangers with a similar type actor, Liam Hemsworth. Gigdaent is perfect for my personal favorite ranger, who not to mention, is easily the most popular ranger ever.
Robert Englund as Ivan Ooze
The best Freddy Krueger, Englund's imagination is perfect for the terrifying Ivan Ooze. Enough said, this is a perfect fit
Laurence Fishburn as Zordon
An arguable choice, I can easily see his face guiding the rangers through there struggle to defend the earth. A good voice, face, and attitude for the role, I can defiantly see this working out
Richard Steven Horvitz as Alpha 5 (voice)
The original Alpha 5 can never be replaced. So what do you do to make it better than the original? Get the same voice, and do it again! It's a no brainer
Not only did I choose these actors because they can fit the role, but I can easily see them coming together to form a unique chemistry, making them the Power Rangers. Just as Michael Bay delivered with Transformers, he can deliver with the Power Rangers. This chemistry and looks this group can form, makes them, I believe, the perfect choice for a future Power Rangers movie.
